I am going through all these old songs (probably like a lot of folks right now), saying goodbye to Toby in my way.... realizing as I do, that I had forgotten how ingrained his music was in my life.... man.....

What a beautiful song. It really hits home for me. I was married to a guy who rarely say I love you. One night in the pub I asked him to put a record on for me as I wanted him to show how/if he did actually love me. And he put on Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins, Richard Marx, Right Here Waiting and The Troggs, A Girl Like you. All songs that were about love. I was shocked. But the moral I'm getting at is because somebody your with doesn't say those 3 little words, doesn't mean they don't. Look at their actions, the things they do for you, all the little things that amount to love. Anybody can say I love you and bugger off and sleep with somebody else. Talk is cheap, they are just words it's their actions that show a person cares about you. I never asked him again, I just knew. My husband passed away last year, I lay on the bed with him at the end and whispered 'I love you, I always have' he was in and out of consciousness, and he squeezed my hand. He was saying 'I love you too.' The kindest, most genuine man I ever met. Damn Toby, you've got me in tears now!

This song came out two years before I reconciled with my bio father. I never as a child thought we would. But my relationship with my stepdad and his family has not always been wine and roses either and I longed for my dad. I am glad I forgave him for the issues he had and got to know him before he died in 2007.
I hear ya. I can't stand the crap they play now a days. I'm either playing cassettes, records, or having to find those old stations on the radio. But if you look, you can find some newer artists that are playing real country. Cody jinks, Jamey Johnson are some of the best in my opinion.
