  • Starting in 1990, deaths from suicide, drug overdoses, and alcoholism started to rise. And
the upswing in these so-called “Deaths of Despair” continues to this day. This video
    explains why.
Assistant Professor of Economics, Tyler Giles, discusses his research showing there is a
causal link between the number of people leaving organized religion and the increase in
    Deaths of Despair.
Watch this important conversation between host, Spencer Demetros, and Dr. Giles on
how getting people back to church may actually save lives and strategies for making that
    happen.
This video is taken from the show Hear Me Out, with Spencer Demetros that airs on
    ActonTV.

Thank God someone is addressing this issue head on and has no dog in the hunt or some miracle cure to sell

Thanks so much! I very much appreciate your positive feedback and also applaud Dr. Giles and his colleagues, Drs. Hungerman and Oostrom, for doing this work. We live it tough times but what helps us to, not only get through, but thrive is being part of a supportive community devoted to life's higher purpose -- and particularly the connection to our creator. I hope to host more of these sorts of shows that inspire us all to be our best.

Community, not necessary church. People are less social, that is the underline problem as we are social beings.
