The April 10, 2019, presentation was introduced by Stanford University President Marc Tessier-Lavigne, whose office co-sponsored the event with the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society, as part of the Tanner Lectures on Human Values. The format for this annual event at Stanford consists of two public lectures and a discussion seminar where all are invited to share their thoughts or reactions.
