My cork yoga mat! I couldn't do poses/downward dog the same way without the grip that cork has, and found it super frustrating. Makes me actually do yoga which is essential to me not getting injured from my other sports. Investing in good sporting equipment *can* make it more enjoyable, keep you healthy and make it safer.

My best purchases: menstrual cup because duh, barefoot running shoes which really got me moving, ergonomic baby carrier which gave me back some independence, satin pothos because for ten dollars I have a beautiful plant I can't kill that is transforming my house into a jungle, basic hypoallergenic stud earrings I can wear 24/7 so I feel pretty more often, a dotted notebook so I can organize and create however I want that day, a good digging fork for the garden, a crockpot because good food doesn't have to be labor intensive, and a ChuckIt for our dog because boarder collies need to run way more miles than I do. There are always more but that's off the top of my head...

The best purchase I ever made was a flight to London, for similar reasons for your flight, just in reverse. BUT as far as a tangible physical thing that was my best purchase, it was a pair of matching duvets & quilts. No longer do my spouse and I fight over how warm of a quilt to use, no more do I wake up freezing cold because someone has stolen all the duvet. Two duvets is the answer, I love my spouse, but I also love sleep and having a warm bum.

I love my Kindle! (I did buy a refurbished version of what I think was the latest model at the time, which cost less and was literally exactly the same.) For a few months last spring, the library was completely closed, bookstores were closed, and shipping was very all over the place, so there was nowhere to get physical books. I bought and borrowed a lot of books on Kindle and it was a lifesaver. (I still like physical books, but my Kindle is the waterproof version, so I can read it in the bath and that's HUGE)

First of all: bought my first journal more than 5 years ago and honestly, it is a life-changing practice. And writting it by hand is absolutely a must for me - could never switch to an electronic version so this "disposable" object will still be a part of my life ;P
Secondly: I am now doing my exchange semester and my boyfriend borrowed me a Kindle...I was always opponent because I love the feel of a real book by my lord, I has never been more grateful for anything anyone gifted me (even temporarily). This is just THE BEST thing that happened to me - I can read wherever, it is light and actually it made me read more too! A fantastic tool ;D

    Hello, Immy!
First of all, thank you so much for all of your content. I discovered your channel about 6 months ago and it has become my favourite. It never fails to make me feel joy, inspiration and gentle encouragement to better myself.
Your mention of habits in this video triggered a question in me, not sure why I didn't think of this before: do you know of Gretchen Rubin?
She writes about habits, productivity and happiness, and also has a podcast that she co-hosts together with her sister. I've only read one of her books but I do listen to the podcast quite often and it's such a rich source of micro-tips and general information that has slowly permeated my way of thinking about these topics.
I don't agree with everything she says, but I do feel like there's a lot to be learned from her content. If you have a chance to give it a try, I hope you find it useful and enjoyable. Thank you!

I have never listened to Gretchen Rubin’s podcast, but I have read both of her ‘happiness books’ and i got a lot out of them. They are light reading and very enjoyable. I have to admit that I love the title “Outer Order, Inner Calm”... I just love those 4 words strung together so elegantly. I enjoyed that book a lot too. Have a great weekend.

I can so much relate about the noise problem! I'm a HSP (hyghly sensitive person) and i can not filter out sounds - at all. This makes concentrating extremely difficult without noise canceling items. Often i need to use earplugs and headphones to really cancel out all the noises. Yes, i can hear that good ... it's a curse most of the time.

Similarly to your Fitbit, I am going to delete my GoodReads account, I actually do get value from the website but since signing up, reading has become more about goals, such as how many books I can read in a year or per month and I want to move back onto the focus of reading for enjoyment, unmeasured.

Thanks again, Immy-this made me think through my purchases and my habits. I have Tiny Habits on my book shelf and plan to read it aloud with my teen boys too. I agree that my e-reader, reusable coffee mug, and good earphones are on my top 10 list. A great crossbody bag that goes with me everywhere is also on my list. Travel is a top 10 item too. I’m intrigued by the sunrise alarm clock. What brand do you have? There are so many on the market now!

This is lovely! And reminds me I have a beautiful refillable pen that I bought as biros are horrible, and its been trapped in my drawer at work for nearly a year! Must go on a rescue mission soon.

Oh, the coffee cup. 😂 The same thing happened to me when I switched to a pour over coffee set up. It saves counter space and is so much simpler to use/clean compared to the old electric drip machine. I also made the mistake of starting with the beautiful (but fragile) glass version though. I broke it, and its replacement, before getting smart and switching to a ceramic version that I now love and can use with breaking.

Loving this video! selecting the 10 more relevant things you've bought, AWESOME! I will be thinking about this in my life and I suspect it will increase the value -for me- of what I own. Thanks Immy! And BTW, the light alarm.... LIFE changer!!!! I used to LOVE mine, it made SUCH a big difference to my mornings!

I still remember summer 2014 when my sunrise alarm clock broke. I went to a shop in the town where I worked and begged them to help me fix it because I couldn’t bear the change to my phone alarm 😂 still going strong (ish, minus one broken button...) 6.5 years on! It’s about 8 years old overall 😁

    Great video!
I am trying to live more minimalistic, which tends to be quite difficult for me.
To me it‘s very interesting you like the sunrise alarmclock so much. I tried one once, but it didn‘t work at all for me! When the small light turned on to then get lighter gradually I woke up instantly and it wasn‘t very comfortable, so I stoped using it pretty much immediately.

I haven't been able to afford the physical clock, but I found an iPad app (Light Alarm) that has been really good! It's free and uses tweeting bird sounds and has been the only app so far that has been good.
Looking forward to being able to afford the physical thing though

Some of my personal best purchases are:
    1. My pencil case (and pen collection). These were important because they have made me more inclined to be productive, and have streamlined my productivity system as a student.
    2. My iPad. My iPad has completely changed my life. It has fueled my love of reading via my local library’s digital collection and the kindle app. I had began to get into a reading rut, and this was able to get me out of it.
    3. My headphones (and a Spotify account). This has literally saved my life, and I know that this sounds a bit over dramatic, but it’s true. I have struggled with depression ever since I can remember, and my very depressing music library somehow made me feel better. My headphones have allowed me to listen to my music without the fear of judgement.

My best purchases?....well, my iPad which I use to read books online and listen to audiobooks, watch RUclips videos and that includes yours; another is my twin size bed with an adjustable base, that was bought to help medical conditions. But I’m still not finished, planning to get a recliner also with medical conditions in mind. And the bed and future recliner is helping to start up more....a decluttering need. That helped to create more space and nothing of value to me comes in until an item no longer useful is removed. I also do journaling and have done so for the past 8 to 10 yrs. From time to time I read the entries and see the changes happen me and anything else I do.

I had a Fitbit too, it drove me crazy! I loved to see what i had done but the App to Watch connection was the worst. Sometimes i could not connect the watch to the App for weeks and it took an hour of mind blowing failiures to connect. So i got rid of it. I now use google fit.

I have an alarm clock like this, but honestly, I'm just going to sell it... See when I keep a regular sleeping rhythm, I just wake up a few minutes before I need to get up anyway. So I just set a "backup" alarm on my phone, but usually I can just switch it off right before it would go off ;)

I would love the sunrise alarm clock except for two things- the clock looks too small and without my glasses, it wouldn’t be very useful. And my boyfriend doesn’t have to wake up as early, so I’d have to put the the light somewhere sneaky where only I can sense it...

Great video! It's super boring, but my honest to god best purchase would have to be an electric blanket. No idea how I used to survive winters without one ❄😬 climbing into a pre-warmed bed feels like your soul is being hugged 🥰 Also I bought a bread maker during the pandemic and now I have hot fresh bread nearly every day 😁

For me, the best purchase is a menstrual cup, reusable cotton bud, good quality water proof shoes (I live in England), and good quality long waterproof coat of my favourite colour. Btw, Immy, do you mind sharing what kind of headphones do you have and are they good quality? On the lookout for wireless and with a mute button.

I'd love to buy a sunrise alarm clock but my partner and I are waking up at different times, so this type of gradual long waking up will wake us both. For this reason, sadly, I have to use a good old phone alarm that I can turn off quickly before it wakes him up and jump out of bed to get ready. I did switch to gentler alarm sounds though :)

My body somehow doesn't care if it's light, it just sleeps😆 I was far North once, other members of the group couldn't sleep because of full on sunshine, but I slept like a well fed baby😁 But I like the idea of a sun alarm clock, especially the birds. Noises always wake me up, so having chirping birds in the morning might be a good idea!
