- In this Silver Pros Collab we talk what silver to avoid for stacking. We were joined by the founder and president of Hero Bullion and he was able to tell us what the worst types of silver are. Silver Pros is a live stream with Silver Dragons and Yankee Stacking and is sponsored by Hero Bullion. There are many different types of silver that could be stacking, but some are worse than others. Jake gave us his expert opinion on what types of silver you should avoid if you are silver stacking or investing in silver.

All I care about is the silver content. Bars and rounds. Anything from a mint is just wasted overhead IMHO.
I got a Great score at an estate sale last year. Went to a local sale on the 1st day and saw they had some US mint pre-64 halves, quarters, and dimes, the price was appropriate, but I waited until an hour before closing of the sale on Sat. afternoon. They still had a good amount of "Junk" left so I made an offer which they accepted. Walked out of there with 9+ pounds of 90% silver US mint coins for.......wait for it.......$300 cash, worth over $3k today.
Are constitutional coins as easy to liquidate as 99.99% silver? How much is their value per gram?
@@Someone-hs5yb yes. Constitutional is easy to sell. And sometimes you can get it at a low enough premium where it’s a no brainer.
@@codycast how much is its actual value considering it's only 90%
@@Someone-hs5yb it’s sold based on that. The # is not a factor as the price is adjusted for that fact

Silver Shot is the 1 thing I noticed was overlooked. People buy it because it's the lowest premium, but I've heard that it's hard to sell because the dealer has to verify that each little grain is real. Don't buy silver shot unless you are pouring your own silver.
we didn’t explicitly say it but we did talk about unmarked silver and that definitely applies 👍🏽🔥🐉
I can see silver shot being used in a barter trade situation, just weigh it out and trade it for whatever that person is willing to trade for, however, that silver shot would need to be tested, that goes for coins and bars as well. How will the black market establish itself if things go bad?
I do like silver shot for casting 🤔

WTF is with the bullion dealers charging so much over spot these days? Used to be you could buy for $2-$5 over spot..I'm seeing almost double that now.

The paper market does not/ is not consistent with supply and demand. Premiums are.

Agreed!
Great video. I ordered some Britannias from Hero Bullion today. Way better than buying form ebay. Thanks.
I stack Constitutional silver because it's going to be easy to barter with because it's the true currency. I save gold because it's a great store of wealth for future generations; and I occasionally buy collectible coins for personal enjoyment, not as an investment.
true that! 🔥🐉
The average population doesnt know anything about junk silver value. You'd try to barter and they'll say "no way am I going to give you X for a quarter". At least 1 oz bullion will have stamped on it, its silver content.

The real and main value of any precious metal,is it easy of conversion. When you need to convert your metal in 10min you can find a buyer,if you present any coin for immediate conversion, you get metal value,or wait for a buyer. If time and urgency is no problem, coins is a good Hobie.

yeah those altered coins are terrible for stacking 🔥🐉
Same here w/ the RCM 10's.

24 DEC 2021 At the moment the HB website is in dire need of 10 oz silver bars. Picked up a RCM bar a week or so ago, but none are available at the moment. Is it because of surging sales during the holidays, or what?

I just ordered silver from RBC in Canada, does anyone have an idea on their delivery time? The teller had no idea.
Mintage is a scam, there are hundreds of different kinds of silver coins that have a limited mintage, that shouldn't be an excuse to pay two or three times premium. For instance the 2020 Mexican silver libertad, that coin is going for about 65 to $70 on the average, why would you pay that much money for 1 oz of silver?
I love my Libertad PROOFS and I honestly don't mind the premiums on them with the low mintage of 6-9k compared to 6 million!! But PROOFS ONLY the Reg Libertad bullion is not as limited as the proofs so I would not pay the high premiums for them.. Like the 2020 you speak of for $65-$70 is the plain bullion I paid just over that for the 2020 Proof that only has a mintage of 5850. It's 1 oz of silver yeah but it's also numismatic and highly sought after... At the end of the day I love premium slabs and Tads but also like to stack cheap.. Do what puts a smile on your face and you are a winner!! Cheers
@@TitleTownStacker I'm with you there, when it comes to the beautiful Mexican Libertads, that's a different story, they don't release that many coins so I always make a point to get a 2 oz proof for every year that comes out and sometimes the reverse proof if I can get to it before everyone else buys them out. I got lucky in 2018 I scored three 5 oz reverse proofs off Apmex. I sold three and got the two for free, so yes low mintage does apply to our beautiful shiny Mexican libertads, but low mintage is for so many coins it really just gives an excuse to up the premium
people buy those for collecting not stacking 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 yes
I agree with you Hugo. but for collectors the price is up. For stackers it's a rip off for them
I'm late to the show on this one. Great show guys.
At 4:02, the silver bar becomes invisible. Top things to avoid when stacking: #1, silver or gold foiled certificates, and #2: silver shot.
So new silver guy question,
In a barter trade situation wouldn't most people who don't stack silver just think the 90% silver was just crap token fiat currency? I didn't know there was a difference until I learned about silver.
Oh yeah I’m about to go get some Britannia’s right now they are beautiful
great option for stacking and they are beautiful for sure! 🔥🐉
for security, Britannias are the coin of the year, also my favorite coin that doesn't have wildlife on it.
Gold Britannias, if you can afford it 😉
Very enlightening!

This Bullion dealer is great - more of him please :D
Thanks for the info
I had a 1921 peace dollar in really good condition. I'm not a collector, I'm a stacker. I have no interest in wheeling and dealing over a niche item. I did some research and found out the coin books for about $300. Ebay prices confirmed this. I took it to my coin dealer, who gave me book value, AU, $290. Now I can stack and not have to dance around with a dealer when I'm desperate for cash.
Great video!
Great info

Received my GAW win today, thx again Silver Pros and Hero
awesome you are welcome! 🔥🐉
Thanks for the education
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” although I believe the best kinds of silver to stack are coins because it’s practical in a state of currency, bars to me are still a good investment but they aren’t as “aesthetically pleasing” to the average person compared to how convenient and attractive a coin is. In the end, you want it to be worth more to the other person. Just my opinion but a true collector would see worth in either one.
I would like to thank him hero bullion is the only place I will buy from. When you play fair with your customers you get loyalty. Just got a one kilo bare from him. You are a hero to the silver guys. My income is a joke so getting a silver dealer like hero is key for me.
Should I focus on gold or silver in July 2021? What is the better buy between the two?
Watch the Gold/Silver ratio (GSR). It's currently around 72 and the rule of thumb is to buy silver when it hits 75+ and then swap your silver for gold when it drops under 50.
New stacker here, and I got the Brittania coin. I love it
Just checked out their site. Wow. Amazing prices!
What about the 100×1g combibars? I get then for 138 right now & they sell for 240 on APMEX.

Can You Stack And Collect At The Same Time ?
Now that was worth watching.
I would have liked to hear his opinion on "mint direct" type sealed tubes, obviously provided the seal, or packaging has not been broken.
are American pre 1964 quarters, dimes, nickles considered marked silver?
Good interview
thanks so much! 🔥🐉
Lol I just started stacking a bit ago. And my first purchase was fractional silver rounds and a few 1 gram fold bars.
Didn't take me to long to figure out hay your doing it wrong lol.
im confused. Which ones are stackable?
Whats everyone's opinion on the Sunshine Minting 1 ounce coins? I just bought 10 of them.
I just purchased 20 at spot. No nothing of them myself.
If someone only has a small amount of money for investing in Silver, don't forget about Pre-'64 Dimes ($1.82 Melt Value currently) or "War" Nickels @ $1.42 Melt.
I know the premium is up on them too, but if you just can't wait for that bigger bar, I'd much rather have the Nickel or Dime instead of the 1/2 or 1 Gram bars.
If you buy a few at a time like I did when I first started out, there's nothing more satisfying than getting that last coin you need to finish the roll.
Not to mention the fact that "Junk Silver" is INSTANTLY RECOGNIZABLE EVERYWHERE versus tiny bars of unknown origin come sales time.
Just my .02c of course, your mileage may vary...
I agree. The Britannias are the best buy out there right now. Just ordered a tube on this dip.
nice buy the dip!!! 🔥🐉
Scored two tubes of Maples. Had the brits in the cart but went North American to stick will my regional sovereign theme.
@@roberts.1430 I normally would do the same. I love maples and ASE but I went with the Britannias because of the price was around 3 dollars cheaper than the maples.
Me too, think their a beautiful coin and for $30 per coin you definitely can’t beat the price.
I have Britannias. In my opinion, the quality is garbage.
That was definitely interesting 🤔

Solid Advice.
thanks for watching! 🔥🐉
Great video
The largest bar I've bought is a kilo. Don't think I really need 100oz bar, but it would be RCM for sure if I decide to buy any. As far as fractional, constitutional coins are worth buying. I know stackers don't care for war nickels (I don't own any) but for people that are on SS, those nickels and 40% HDs are very doable. Getting harder to find as well.
I like the RCM 10's
yeah i’m always down for some RCM 🔥🐉
Are APMEX bars and rounds good for stacking?
Been buying from them for about a year now.
Yes, absolutely. Stack with confidence.
If the price is good , buy em. Price drops really low , they'll say they're out of silver tho.
The Britannia is a beautiful coin. I just paid $30.25 per coin from a dealer near me. The Maple Leafs are still $34 and the Eagles still $37 so I couldn’t help but buy all 9 that he had
yeah that is a much better deal to stay away from the maples and eagles 🔥🐉
What about Canadian Maple leafs and African Krugerrands? How would they be for stacking?
What is your point of view for "lunk silver" ? Dimes, quartes and half dollars from 1964 and earlier ???
Hero is spot on! Recommend!
absolutely! 🔥🐉
Thanks
you are welcome thanks for watching! 🔥🐉
isnt 1 ounce of silver 1 ounce of silver?
I started stacking because of silver dragons, and just found Yankee the other day.
What about home melted bars? Maybe from jewelry maker or such area?
I process scrap silver and gold to .999 fine. I don't make any bars until it goes through either a silver or gold cell. I mark all the bars I process correctly (maker, weight, purity, country of origin, serial number), I also get them assayed, so the paperwork matches up.
I also purchase large qualities and process them to smaller sizes. I like 1, 2, 5 and 10 troy ounce bars, nothing bigger. Gold is harder to get, but I do process it. I like going on vacations to the great lakes in the summer, I manage to always end up getting about 4 to 5 ounces of flour gold during the vacation.
Thanks this man was very honest. But as for you ,you melt silver to make objects. Don’t pay someone to refine your silver. Learn to do it yourself. There are many programmes on utube to do it. If you want to be the ultimate stacker. Go out and find your own silver and mine it and refine it. If you do that you will be an ultimate stacker. Just be careful of the high quantities of arsenic in some mines.
Have fun, Robby Au.
I would love to get into mining someday 🔥🐉
I'm also very bullish on lead rounds encased in brass brass casings...🤠
Even high net worth people should avoid 1,000 oz bars if they are going to take delivery. The savings on those things only makes sense if you buy them in the futures market and leave them in the comex vaults. Otherwise, you will have to have them assayed at your expense to make them "good delivery" bars again and therefore allowed back into the comex vaults to be sold (and that IS the best place to sell since you are unlikely to find a liquid market for such bars any other way.
If you want to sale high end or high premium silver you need to invest some time and sale online (eBay). Or through a private sale. Definitely don't sale to Bullion dealer or coin shop! It is all about how much work you are willing to do in selling you you're silver.
100% agree… always sell your silver on eBay or Facebook.
Dealers will only give you up to 95% for spot.
Example spot is $22.
Dealers final offer would be something like $20-20.90
He’ll turnaround and sell it for $29-29.90.
New to this, so here's a dumb question. What do you mean by stacking, just someone who buys silver and keeps it?
Ok, I'll bite. It's the physical act of stacking....literally. Stack one piece on top of the other.
How about silver shot, is it good for stacking?
No. Terrible
I love silver eagles but I’d have to say my favorite design is the brittania.
100oz 9999 RCM silver bars are my fav right now...10oz and kilo a close second. No coins and no rounds anymore. I like seeing my stack and not a bunch of mint tubes
lol fair enough stack em up! 🔥🐉
If a barter needs to happen it will be really hard to get change for a 100oz bar. Also fakes are more prevalent in the big bars and some will shy away from those. For all the inconvinence of a 100oz bar. No thanks been stacking 7 years and no way I want one
@@Userhfdryjjgddf in my opinion its best to have a little bit of both. Some coin tubes ( in case things get real bad, and people resort to barter ), and some bars ( 10oz, 1kg but no bigger then 1kg ) for the convenience of storage and its still light enough to transport ( in batches if it gets too big ).
@@dmitryk2058 My stack is slowing moving to kilo bars. If things really got that bad that you needed to barter, ammo will be worth much more and a better commodity. Look at the early stages of covid (March 2020) in America. When things get sh!ty people buy guns and ammo for protection.
