Of course they're standing....They're rocking out!!!! I was leery when heard they were going to have the string section, but it just added so much more. Loved it
That song is so darn fun live! The string section really gave the songs a much richer and fuller sound, it was a great idea to have them! They even kept them onstage for a couple of older songs (For the show I went to, I think it was "Dreamline" and "Red Sector A"). The strings were a really great addition to those two songs, they felt right at home in them.
I saw this tour and loved this section of the show, there was so much excitement and the anticipation it was through the roof, I can feel it again just in watching it through this medium. From 9:35 till the end of song some of the coolest time signatures and tempo and rhythm changes. I feel like they were really proud and felt challenged. Love this song and I’m a 40yr Rush fanatic. R.I.P Neil and all hail the mighty Rush. Thank you Boys! Great reaction and review 👊🏻
This definitely is a special concert. The strings, the lighting, the pyrotechnics, and, of course, the great Setlist. To me, caravan, harkens back to their prog days. Just modernized. Dig it!
I'll be honest, I was not jazzed when I first heard that Rush was going to tour with a string section but I ended up liking it. They did a good job of making it work well.
Maybe watched this whole show once or twice since 2015...enjoy going through it again...Geddy is sounding pretty good...the band fed off the energy of the strings. I'm glad they stood and rocked out...the 2nd set was really special...I remember in Charlotte it was a step up even after the killer 80s first set🤘
Canadian actor Jay Baruchel is featured in the opening skit, it's okay just sets the mood. Good song though, love the string ensemble they really fill out the sound. Awesome concert, wish I could have seen it in person.
At the time, I had no idea they were touring with the string section. I found out when I was sitting in the arena and the second set started! An interesting side note, if you haven't been told already, one of the violin players is named Johnathan Dinklage. His brother is Peter Dinklage, from "Game of Thrones". Johnathan toured with Rush on the R40 tour to play electric violin on "Losing It". Ben Mink filled the role on a couple of dates.
@@richierich398 That never occurred to me. Good point. I supposed there are no hard feelings, considering Peter's participation in the "Roll the Bones" rap.
Justin, this was one of Rush's tours that I only went to 1 show because of the strings! I was so glad when they finally went off stage. As far as that tongue, don't have a problem with it! Some of those Women playing were hot as hell!!!
Jay was PERFECT for the role! 😄 The strings added so much, in my opinion. Glad the boys decided to bring ‘em along. Seeing this live was indescribable.
I think & wish Rush had done a one off show with a full orchestra at some point. I think some of their older material would have sounded great with orchestral arrangements. They could have had it at somewhere like the Royal Albert Hall in London.
There’s a doc about the strings and the boys didn’t want them just sitting. They wanted them to get up and rock out since its a rock show. And also the strings personalities are not your normal string section. The gal with the tongue has a punk rocker vibe. I was a long haired big beard wearing metal head in the 80s while I was in music school and was in the string section of the symphony orchestra so we do exist. Of course thats back when I had all my hair.😁
Totally Epic!! I’m pretty sure we got a string section that are rockers! Just wait..! One of the violinist is Jonathan Dinklage! (That’s Peter Dinklage’s brother) he plays a couple shows with them during R-40 to do “Losing It”! Loved it!! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
Apparently I haven't heard some of the later stuff, I didn't really dig it that much until it got going later in the song. Nice, jazzy music. These guys are totally into giving it all on stage. Stevie Ray Vaughn and others are known for it and you have to have it. I dig that cello player too... Like a female Gene Simmons.
No Cello Lady, they're not that kind of rock band... 😂 About the string section standing up, Alex said in an interview that they're not "formal" classical players, they're all into rock music. I found it a lot easier to accept their presence because they look like they're having a great time (even if they're not, they do a very good job of pretending). Only downside to the live performance of this song is I really miss the lovely melodic guitar line in the chorus, my favourite part of the song. 😭
@@demonicadog actually now I've listened again with the volume up a bit I can hear it - they _have_ triggered it, but it's so low in the mix it's barely audible
On the subject of sitting/standing/moving, I was, and still am, of two minds. Part of me had a Mr. Miyagi reaction: "I tink you dance around too much!" Another part of me thought it was cool that they were so apparently into it. I do feel that it would have added to the cinema of it all had they been seated and dressed in clothing to match the period/setting of the story or whatever, but I get what they were going for here, and it worked.
Only Rush and The Foo Fighters were willing to make fun of themselves. Could you imagine Metallica or Kiss daring to poke holes in their public persona just to give their fans a chuckle?
I loved that the strings behaved as though they were aware they were in a rock band. Their animated performance reminded me of early ELO.
Rush made sure that the string section felt like a part of the band which was a totally class thing to do...and the audience loved it.
Alex literally swaggers toward the stage during the opening skit like he knows he’s about to kick ass!!! King Lerxst!
The music and the performance of Caravan on this tour were just epic. Alex was super exciting and the strings were great background. Loved this.

I totally love this song! ❤❤❤ and I like the strings.

The energy was amazing. The strings were amazing and I love what they did with them later on...

the live strings add the extra, just so great!

They are a rock and roll strings group, getting into the music. Can't blame them.
"I want to learn to play the violin."
"Why violin?"
"So i can tour with RUSH!"
"Yeah....good luck with that." 😊😊😊
That just flat smoked. Awesome performance.
Gary says: RUSH now a karaoke Irish pub band…here come the emojis😝😝😝🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥
Gary says: Let’s get to the tunes..let’s get to it…Bam 💥
I was in the 4th and 7th row for two of these shows, and man, I really felt the heat from those flashpots. I can only imagine what they felt.

Sounds great. Seeing them play this live as a treat especially Neil and Geddy
I love the attitude on the red headed cellist!!!😂🤘🏻

I wonder how Peter felt about the dwarf skit? Just saying.

Love love this energy. Sounds so good.
Can’t believe those full-sized people took those acting roles away from dwarfs.
But if they gave the roles to dwarfs the gnomes and trolls would complain. It's a no-win situation 🤷♀
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but Jonathan Dinklage, (Peter's brother) is in the string section!

yeah I get it. I've worked with a lot of strings players in LA, many are able to go from all black type looks to edgy looks.
I like the strings on this one. Sounds great live.
Jay Baruchel is in this Intermission Intro

They could’ve triggered it

Forgot how long that intro is!
Say what you will, I dig the tongue. LOL

😎😎🧡🧡
How can you rock out while sitting down? 😂
It almost looks like Electric light orchestra (ELO) lol
Have troubles with the main chord progression, but that might just be me. Liked some parts of the song though.
Canadian humor
Said it before the strings didn't work for me.
