Hue Yang yes he did the fuck are you talking about ? He’s one of the very few vocalists that can sing as high as Brian especially at his age.. he struggles with his lower notes. The issue comes and goes. Some performances are amazing almost perfect and others he struggles through but he never lost his higher octave abilities and voice.. and that’s what he’s most known for. So yes he has overcome it, he adopted and found a way to make it work, making the best out of it. Best thing of all is the fact that he still has that child like, youthful voice when he hits those higher notes and he blows the crowd away every time. You need to watch more of his recent performances.. he is amazing.

Look at how everyone immediately tenses up when that reporter asks about Brian's vocal issues. Nick looks really pissed. You can tell this is still an incredibly touchy subject in the band, it's so sad..

I don’t know any of these guys. But after watching the BSB movie (BSB: Show ‘em What You’re Made Of), it occurred to me that Nick expresses his fear and grief related to Brian’s voice with anger. The other guys are much more relaxed during the discussion.
They are just serious and sad - no wonder since it's a serious issue. Maybe Nick was more nervous than the others at some points, maybe there was some residual tension for him in this regard - but still it's a huge stretch to call him ''pissed''.

Brian's voice is so beautiful and so sweet, I'll never forget how many joys he has give to me, his voice made me sigh, laugh, cry, feel even the deepest of myself, and that for a singer is very difficult to achieve. Brian please never give up, you don't have to prove anything. We all know it, you're the best and that's written in the history of music and of course in our hearts, we love you and will always love you.

His therapy has definitely been working. He sounds so much better on this past tour!
It's sad. He has such a Beautiful voice, and for this to happen to him. It's such a shame when bad thing happen to good people!

we all know it was there.. I am really happy that he has acknowledged it... He had the sweetest voice.. Praying or it to come back.. I know he has worked on it and in a way in the new album.. he has sung songs keeping these issues in mind.. But it is still tough on the old songs..
Nick looks so uncomfortable and upset while they are talking about it. And seeing Kevin just intently watch Brian like he's ready to jump in at any moment is so sweet too. I hate Brian is going through this, but he sounds SOOOO much better! This time off before the residency in Vegas will hopefully be added time for him to continue his recovery.

Shania Twain overcame it. I think Brian needs a break tho. Like a real break. A year without doing anything strenuous with his voice except working on controlling it again. The problems arose around the time of the NKOTBSB tour, progressively got worse, then he started getting therapy for it and it's gotten better, but since then they made an album and had a 2-year tour. Shania took real time off to work on it. I think Brian needs that too. I understand that being the "de facto leader" puts a lot of pressure on him and he doesn't wanna let them down, but he can't be there if he can't sing. And they want him to get better. Especially Nick. The part in the movie where they're talking about it (after all the screaming is done) is really touching.

I totally AGREE with you!! I was just thinking the same thing. I just watched a "preview" of their Vegas show, and it's actually gotten worse. He's always singing, so he's never giving his voice a chance to rest and "heal". Like anything type of therapy, you do it, but you don't over do it. I keep praying he gets it back.
Brian won't have time to recover w Vegas & album promo &world tour after that. Shania had to take off for years before she even tried to again.
But there is no cure for his issue. Sadly rest won't cure it.
Brian's voice in 2017 and 2018 is soo amazing and I think he's getting way better recently even though he seems like lost some weights. I'm so proud of him.
but why does Brian always have to suffer from serious diseases... heart defect and had a open heart surgery, swine flu, then dystonia and dysphonia. Although he has lots of struggles, he never gives up and smiles all time. That's beyond amazing. We're always with you Brian.
Just to clarify - don't portray losing weight as something ''bad''. It's bodyshaming in a way. I agree with you about Brian though, these were wise words/sentiments.

@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849I agree, as an Ectomorph I always get called out about my weight even more so now I borderlined Diabetes, loss a ton of weight and varicoceles ain’t helping neither, but with careful and disciplined workout I am recovering but slowly.
Gosh his voice was special..loved songs he sang like the perfect fan and safest place to hide...always had goosbumps...his voice made me teary...hope he recovers..wishing him well

I don't think Brian's situation bothered Nick in a negative way so much as it's scared him, and he probably hates seeing Brian go through this and not being able to do something to fix it, I think it's all come out of a place of love from Nick there brothers and they care for one another.

Agreed. But if u watch their documentary, nick actually blows up on Brian about his voice. It’s not a nice moment at all…. But u can see how much it affects them all. Nick was very rough w him though. It’s kinda hard to watch.

Brian was born with heart defect and then dystonia and dysfonia. So probably his immune system is not strong compare to others since he was born. He's been through a lot and I'm so proud of him fighting all of the illnesses. He's strong enough.
the vocal problems are mostly neurological/psychological...they are not smth you get infected with.
He will get better. I know he will. He is Brian! Praying for him to have the strength to get better. He will always be my favorite!

First heard of this disorder from Audio Adrenaline's original singer, Mark Stuart losing his voice and the band calling it quits. Felt bad to hear Mark struggle. It's devastating for musicians, really praying for Brian's recovery.

I have listened to several videos of Brian singing in 2016, and it does seem like he has improved, particularly with his speaking voice. But there have been good moments and bad. I noticed he sings a lot more in falsetto now which doesn't always sound the greatest. I hope he improves. The next album needs more Brian lead vocals

+LuLu Oregon Agreed. The difference is the rest of the guys are trying to ignore the issue whereas Nick is trying to address it with Brian. Everyone has their own idea of helping and dealing. Nick did bring up the group confonted him while he had his issues... and its not just a "they did it with me so why not him" thing. Nick got better... loads better because his brothers came in and helped. He sees it as a way of helping. He wants the same for Brian.
+Maha yeah what Nick said in the movie about him being the Michael Jordan of the group and missing his voice was really touching. He was taking it very hard. And while I don't agree with HOW he went about confronting Brian on it (because there was definitely a better way to approach it than by screaming at one another) he was right in tackling the issue. The others were walking on eggshells and Nick was tired of it. Friends shouldn't always tell you what you want to hear. They should tell you what you need to hear, and Brian needed to hear what Nick said.
Gosh that's my best voice in BSB, and Nick's is second best for me.
I know how painful it is to lose a voice. It's like loosing your best of best trusted friend.

its like the subject is pretty sensitive because everyone just got silent and looking kinda tense.. anyways, even there is a problem with brian's vocals now, it doesn't really matter because we remember him having the most soulful and handsome voice ever..

I wonder if there was any discussion between Brian and the Doctorin regards of possibly performing surgery or maybe a workout that focus the muscles in his neck or something. The main thing that shines a light in all this is Brian keeping his cool when asked a sensitive question and being honest. The most part of all the crew is aware of it and still have him there everyone working as a team and Brian still going on stage talk about bravery mad respect.
This is not smth you can operate on or fix through technique. It is a neurological and psychological problem and not easy to treat.

In addition to the description given here, Brian was supposedly struck with the swine flu around the time of the NKOTBSB tour. So, that may have been the catalyst for everything happening now.
Brian got the swine flu around 09. The NKOTBSB TOUR wasn't until 2011 so, I doubt if it was.

Moviefan2k4 It's all good, no problem. I rather for you to know than to mistakenly say the wrong thing. That's how stuff get spreaded wrong when the info isn't correct. Example being the swine flu, which we now know it is not cause and that is something else.
I believe this same thing happened to Shania Twain and she recovered. I believe there is a strong psychological component.
She's not overcome it. It has gotten better but you can still clearly hear the issue sometimes. I'm a singer and vocal coach and have the same condition.

Dysphonia seems to be almost cured now because he sounds really good these days. But I doubt he's still fighting with Dystonia which is more serious disease than voice issue. Sometimes he's pale. I hope he will get better.
What's being ''pale'' have to do with ''dystonia''??? I think you're overstepping the boundaries and over analysing. Sometimes people are pale naturally, sometimes they are just tired or in need of rest - paleness does NOT always indicate serious issue.

Unfortunately, he's not better, it's worse. Seeing the DNA tour last year, he was struggling so much, especially as the concert continued. But the end, his voice was just gone.
1:05 made me wanna cry. Poor Brian, irrelevant to THIS video, but I'm sick of hearing Nick bitch to Brian about how the group needs to get better and how Nick wants to replace Brian with the lead and when he was going and making fun of Brian's voice. That just makes me mad. Brian has gone through so much with what his heart surgery, his sickness that CAUSED the VCTD, and then getting the VCTD and having to hear the outcome and how it thoroughly messed up his beautiful voice. Going to therapy probably only reminds him of that but it was something he HAD to do, which sucks. That is tragic to me. And then I hear of the group asking Brian "Is it a life or death situation? Cuz we have to keep going." That is terrible. Brian has really been through it and still is just so positive and hard working. He has to work the hardest and I feel like Nick and Kevin are just being so hard and passive about it. I don't know, that's just my thoughts. But these are facts. Brian has an amazing voice, (in my opinion it's the best voice in the group) has gone through crazy stuff, and he is working harder than anyone else in the group.
Funny because Brian constantly talks shit about Nick's voice in interviews where Nick isn't present, says things like "I can't do your job for you anymore" implying that nick can't sing and so on.. y'all get angry at Nick bc he wants to talk about the issue meanwhile for a long time Brian was hiding his condition. Idk why you all love to make Nick the bad guy when it's Brian talking shit about Nick behind his back but 🤷♀️

It's a shame for Brian ..but this condition is really common and it is caused mainly by stress ..Although with the added swine flu he contracted that would not have helped matters , But a lot of this condition is stress related ...Hopefully he can eventually overcome this but 5 , 6 years down the road and still not back 100% its getting doubtful for him for a full vocal recovery
Can someone confirm what I read somewhere that it was Brian to insisting to record the new album and make the tour?
I think that they were planning to take a very long rest after the Las Vegas shows but it was Brian who said that it was okay? I admire his love for music but they should rest after the tour, we'll wait for it. And its heartbreaking when he talks about it on the documentary.

I don't think it's since NKOTBSB tour, it's way before that. When they were promoting Straigtht through My Heart, his voice had been in a bad shape. I hope he can recover, it's been too long and sometimes he sounds like he's much better but some times later seems to get worse again.
I would have to agree new with you. I think it was long before that too. I wouldn't say it was awful during Black & Blue but it definitely had started changing around that time and 2002 as well. I just think he was able to work with and around it. Glad I'm not the only one who pick up on that.

Yes he is indeed still hot and doesn't look like he's aged, just got a beard. I think it's his jawline. He has a bone structure ppl pay money to get. It must be a Littrell thing because Kevin has a nice jawline too (his mother is Brian's father's sister).

Oh it’s because in the documentary, and very critical part of the doc was when Nick and Brian had that fight. Nick was far too mean about it tbh. It was getting talked about a lot at the time. It didn’t reflect well on Nick.
