@@iago07 Sure but that does not mean it was not a huge rivalry. Look at their overall head to head. It is nothing like Serena vs Sharapova, LOL! And they only played in 3 slam finals anyway, so not a ton, and Lindsay had match point in one of them, which was one of the all time best matches.
TWO GREAT PLAYERS FROM SAME COUNTRY AND PLAYING FOR THE TITLE AT DIFFERENT PLACE OR TOURNAMENT IS AWESOME AND FANTASTIC.... VERY RARE TO BE AT THAT LEVEL OR TO WATCH...... GREAT ONE...
Watching this level of tennis on grass, and i just can't figure out how halep won wimbledon in 2019, if she had play in the 2000s she would have lose in the first round over and over again.
Pathetic. She totally outplayed Serena that day. Had the match of her life. And I'm the biggest Venus and Serena fan you can get....stop being so stupid and bitter.
@@rolandgreen7484 Don’t think that’s true. Nadal is almost useless on quick courts. 0 Miami, 0 Shanghai, 0 ATP finals, 0 Paris indoors. Djokovic has 6 Miami, 4 Shanghai, 7 ATP finals, and 7 Paris indoors. That’s a combined 24. If anything, the stats show that slowing the courts would pretty much exclusively help Nadal. Nadal has shown almost zero ability to win on semi fast to fast courts because he needs the ball to bounce high for his forehand to be useful. Djokovic does even better on medium fast/fast courts than slow courts. Novak is fantastic at taking low, skidded balls and redirecting them with pace. He also had a good serve and elite footwork, with an adept net game. At the ATP finals 2023, the courts were playing extremely quick (CPI of 45) which of course Novak dominated. I really don’t think Djokovic would ever struggle at Wimbledon, regardless of speed. Great serve, elite return of serve, elite footwork and compact, deep strokes is a recipe for success on any quick court. He would destroy any net player with passing shots over and over. Also, the slowing of Wimbledon is exaggerated. Even here before they slowed the courts down in 2001, baseline tennis was the norm for women and for some men too.
Halep played perfect tennis in her own style during the 2019 Wimbledon final against Serena Williams, only 3 unforced errors the whole match, she was unplayable that day. I am a great admirer of Venus but I think 2019 Halep would have beaten both 2000 Davenport and Venus Williams
It's like one on one with good power from both sides.... At last one has to win.... Is it right?.... That's what happened.... KUDOS to both talented and great players.....
Venus Williams: One of the all-time great Wimbledon grass court players… 5 Wins from 9 Finals, 1 SF, 3 QF… spanning 20 Championships, 1998-2017. 🎾 🙌🏾💪🏾
Exactly. She’s just a joy to watch! & Also a Lovely & Kind Person.
I remembered that day😍 that day I felt in love in Venus and tennis❤️
Wow this match was 21 years ago. The game has played the same. Venus and Serena changed the game.
Two of the all time heavy hitters
Venus Williams the maestro of tennis at Wimbledon.
Venus 6 foot 1 1/2 and Lindsay 6 foot 2 1/2. One tall Wimbledon final.
What a great rivalry these two had. A pretty even score card as well.
Lindsay never beat Venus in a major final
It was a very entertaining match , great players both of them. Excellent instincts , good shots

So sweet seeing Serena so joyously cheering for her at the end @12:53

Wimbledon is no longer the as it once was. Slowing down the courts has ruined the fast, slippery surface that Wimbledon was and should be.
@@princesofthepower3690 Nadal and Djokovic have really benefited from this, particularly Djokovic.

Venus simply overpowered Lindsay here.

Nope. But she had better court coverage, great drop shots and good angles.
Yeah Chris..and they all hit harder than you

Well...couldn't complain about the beads this day.
Congrats...Venus.
Sometimes i dont understand how lindsay had the career she did having been so slow.
Lindsay was painfully slow.
Not a great deal of racket head speed either - you can hear how loosely strung her racket is in a bid to keep up with the power hitting of Venus.
I want the full match + ceremony, dammit

Serena trying to look like she is happy for her...
IMBECILE
Like venus did when her sister won her fist grand slam a year before

Wow! Linsey!
The William Sisters always grunted their loudest vs Sharapova.
And this is important, why?

Lindsay was so gracious...and probably grateful that Venus didn't spit on her hand before shaking it, as was her custom.
Are you alright?
Evert please stop talking God she's an awful commentator
