This is the best version I've seen of Vanity Fair, I actually wrote a song after seeing it called Vanity Fair. If you have a chance to see this version, do it. Becky Sharp makes the cast of Seinfeld look like unselfish people.
same! the zoom-ins were really jarring and cheesy to me at first, but eventually they just became funny and endearing. You could make it a drinking game and take a shot every time they zoom in lol
The Redcoats have the wrong weapons. They are supposed to be India Pattern Brown Bess muskets without the iron bands around the barrells. Pity to see such excellent attention paid to the uniforms only to have the British soldiers carrying an obviously incorrect weapom.
They tried to combine a modernised drama style with classic BBC period drama, which proved to be such a distaster my mind, heart and eyes are just in pain, worse with every minute of it. I'm such a massive fan of the book, which is smart, witty, wise, funny and enjoyable. Substantive and light. Serious and frivolous at the same time. This adaptation doesn't catch any of these features. Such a pity the great potential of these actors, especially the one playing Becky, was wasted by terrible screenwriters and others.
I disagree. Obviously, it's not perfect. The script and directing waver at times, certainly, but overall, I think it's a beautiful production that definitely brought something new to the story.
I think its a very good adaptation. I cant get on board with the pop music they choose at the end of each episode though. It made some sort of sense in Sophia Coppolas Marie Antoinette, but with this its just tagged onto the end in the most bizarre way. Apart from that brain fart they chose to run with, I think its a good series.
The only thing that really made me go "Huh?" was the pop music used to end each episode like "Material Girl" or Kate Bush. Otherwise...I think this was a good show.
Claudia literally looks like a cross between Anne from the 1985 Anne of Green Gables and Carey Mulligan

Claudiaaaaaaa🥰🥰🥰
God, this show was so good. Truly human!
A refreshing take on the novel - l enjoyed it more than the 1998 BBC version. As for the movie version - well...
Great series. Really felt for the characters but the CGI could have been a bit better or maybe just use real locations (i.e. the Belgium scenes)?
Love behind the scenes 📷🎬🌍💥❤❤
I loved the show
Charlie Rowe he so HOT !!
Love this tv serie 📷🎥❤❤❤
Was it as good as the 1998 BBC version?
the the acting and the original score I liked but i'm not so keen about the direction - especially those zoom-ins which felt so soap-opera-ish

Stylish production, generally strong acting, but it's insipid and entirely fails to capture the flavour of this very dark, sardonic novel.

Ken Matthews no one gives a fuck
Check out Johnny Flynn ‘s music
@@genevievedillon8277 I actually found the show on accident because i was looking for Johnny Flynn's vinyl on Amazon haha
Battle scenes with exploding cannonballs, again.A little military research would do wonders.ITV should stick to shitty soaps.
How unpleasant
fine actors but garbage and ridiculous music... Thackeray deserves better... english composers
The Acting is good only. The rest.... Oh give me a break. Thank God it's over finally
This was so awful and cheap looking show
