I wish this wasn't 2 years ago!! But put some new clear coat over that carbon fiber mirror! It's just faded cause the old clear was probably shit product to begin with , or re-expoxy it , wet sand , and clear coat it to give it more depth
I bought my WRX last year in California for $1500. It needed EVERYTHING haha. When I bought it didn't even drive. Now it's become an STI. I've done about everything. It's almost ready for paint now.
Please for the love of god, change those mirrors back lol. Aside from that? Suspension and brakes. Go all out. Check the diffs and transmission for shavings. The typical things. When i do a build i always make sure that the brakes and suspension are up to par for the end result of my build before i start any other mods. There is nothing more frustrating than completing your build and tune and then being limited by your stopping and cornering abilities while you wait for covid delayed parts to arrive and install. My newest 08 dirt car project started off stock with a 2.5i, didnt touch the motor until i got the wilwood brake kit and the full suspension replacement done. It also gave me more time to decide if i wanted to go with a standard ej22 swap or if i wanted a raptor driven ej25 sc. I went with the supercharged 2.5i build lol. The torque is excellent for the local dirt track and the stock gearing just fits the build perfectly. Highway is a bit annoying. 5k rpm at 120 mph gets annoying but i built it for dirt and im happy with the results so far. Congrats on your purchase. Enjoy your healthy addiction bud.
No AC Belt either, check the oil EJ motors like to consume it and do a compression test. Mirrors look plastic ! Not bad for 2 grand looking forward for the build. If the brakes are to bad 2006 wrx 4 pots are good upgrade not expensive.
So I too just got a 2002 WRX it drives well has a few problems that I’m working on and needs some body work attention. Really excited to see what you do with this! I know I have a vision of what mine will look like after it’s finished. Definitely going for a budget build as well, looking forward to seeing updates on this.
Great find! I recently found a similar deal on an 04 WRX wagon. I’m almost done working on it and I’m not sure if I can bring myself to sell it or not! It was a sketchy deal and I drove a 6 hour round trip for it, but I’m glad I did.
You got a deal of a lifetime on this car, I’d love to see you sand it down and get her a new coat of paint. If you’re going to replace anything stick with closest to oem that you can. Check the undercarriage too. Axels, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. I may think about keeping this one. It’s a rarity and for the price, you have a clean slate. Used good condition ejs aren’t that hard to find and boxer engines are one of the most unique by far sitting below a rotary for me. One thing I noticed right off the bat, the fitment was booty. Some spacers & raise the coils a tiny bit would do good. Think clean slate. Anywhere would be a good start w this car. The interior is mint too. 👌
Honestly a good tune up and some body work and that thing would be worth 3x what you paid! These blobeye's are very sought after, I had to settle for a non turbo 04 wagon myself as the wrx/sti's are just at an insane price right now. Good luck with the build! You got yourself a sub from me!
I see STIs from that generation going for 10-18k and WRXs going for maybe 6-11k if you shop around. They are probably the cheapest they are ever going to be. When I got mine most were still in the 20-25k range - I paid 18k for it with 112k miles. At the time it was a steal, but I see similar mileages going for less now. My recommendation is to get one soon or pay a lot more later.
@@AutomotiveMoney thanks i mean it was in pretty bad shape but it was worth it. If you want to check it it out and see my progress here is my insta @mau_wrx_project

That's awesome, giving it all to the build!
Just bought a 2004 WRX for $2500 with 170000kms on the clock, largely unmodified but definitely needs a paint job. Great vid bro
Great video bro! I would say fix the rust and panels and clean up that engine bay and maybe wrap it, paint might be too much!
Thanks. That's just about what I ended up doing
Wrap it black that would be sick

Thank you!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for
Glad to hear!
This popped up in my recommended, and not even a minute in my thoughts are "That's one clapped ass blob" lmao
Very true.

Sounds like a good video series!!! I’ll be joining in on your build my guy +1
I’m actually looking into getting a wrx also definitely subbed so I can follow this build lol
Awesome!

I know I'm so stoked! Thanks for all the input!
Best deal can’t wait!!
Thanks!
Ohhh the cracked ej alternator 🙄🤣
i scored one in miami for 5k had only 125k stage 2 hawkeye only thing it was a rebuilt title solid car though but i think you got a steal for 2k
I love hawkeyes. They're a blast!
Get some wide rims and wide body fenders 😆
someone didnt take care of that very well and its probably been vandalized
surely there you, you can find them at a low price, but here in Italy, they make you pay dearly, and you are not even sure to find them in good shape
良い音。音良い。錆止めを頑張ってあげてください。
Oh boy this find was a little iffy hope it was worth the fun
most definitely
@@AutomotiveMoney awesome id do the same but everyone in California thinks their run down subies are worth 8k!
I think I got you beat on the budget wrx. Stay tuned on my channel Saturday morning!
How many miles were on this?
Great deal

You said you wanna flip the car, any chance I can purchase it when it’s done
It's already done and sold, but thanks for the comment!
Where you finding used cars advertisement
Facebook Marketplace
I can hear a bit of turbo flutter
For sure
I bought my bugeye wrx wagon for only $1200 and drove it home.
I'm going to buy a 05 wrx but I'm not sure if the Honda civic 8th gen is more better ?
I am a huge fan of the 8th gen civic... or 9th gen.. There will be videos soon
more reliable sure , but not better than a subie
@@juice4798 so basically the subaru is not reliable?
lol i just sold my bug eye for 460 with all oem parts
Don’t know the market for them…… 5 or 6. Complete restore it and get 20-28k
That check engine light ON though should scare any buyer away specially if the light is on a Subaru.
if the engine runs fine its likely nothing serious probably just an o2 sensor or because its catless
@@williepie ditto, and if unsure just have em meet you at a oriellys or something to check the code.
A lot of work tho.
yes for sure.
👍🏻
Thanks!
$1500 wouldve been a better price
Let’s just call it a development. It’s a trailer park bro
I got mine for 1,200
That's awesome!
