In the late seventies I drove for a man that owned two trucks I drove one he drove the other. In 1977 he ordered a new Transtar 2 we received it in febuary of 1978 it was a 1978 model he let me have it, it had a 3406 cat with a 13 speed it was silver with black stripes he let me order the paint scheme. It had Dayton drives, aluminum buds on stirring first truck I ever had with tubeless tires.
In late 1978 he bought another 78 Transtar 2 it was an eagle.
I had $285,000 Mi on mine when he sold it and went to one truck.
I retired from driving after 43 years, May 1st 2017 I never drove another International.

My Uncle had a day cab version with a gravel box on the back. 8V92 powered. I loved riding in that truck back when I was a kid.

Looks like a old Snyder truck, glad it fired up for you, it's worth restoring this old corn binder. Heck of a work truck.

I thought it looked like a old snider truck to live that model 4070

    • @georgerenton965

Snyder trucks came new with the cropped bumper. Back in the 70’s you’d pull into the Green Shingle Truck Stop on I-90 in NW Pa, exit 5 and the
fuel islands would be full of Snyder trucks like this one. Truck stop is long closed. It became a Dixie something or other. That sign is till evident
from the interstate. The Shingle had excellent food. All home made, and good people running it. That was the golden era of cabovers.
PA was still 55 feet max length. The Iron Curtain states on either side of the Mississippi River where 73,280 lbs gross weight in those days.
Look closely at the doors inside near where the mirror bracket mounts on the outside. The steel where it is rounded will probably be cracked.
Common to that model of cab. I always found the steering to feel a bit light. Spent lots of miles in Louisvilles …. Too many running long haul
with no sleeper. 2250 mile rounders in Canada.

Looks like a pretty decent truck. With a bit of TLC it could go back to work which makes sense with the price of new trucks and the unreliability of modern electronics.

Just found your channel. I love the L Series Fords with a Cummins. My daily driver at work was a 96 L7000 with a 2,500 gallon 5 compartment tank double pumper fuel truck. Sadly it was retired in 2017. We still have a 94 L8000 fuel truck with a 2,800 gallon 3 compartment single pumper with the 8.3 Cummins and 6 speed manual as a spare truck and i drive it as much as I possibly can. Was on it every day a couple weeks ago and took it out a few times last week.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Cabovers Rule!🥰 I know you already had something in mind for the truck, but it would be a great backup truck. It seems to have extra hitches on it already & that’s a big PLUS in my book. Do this…Check it out by driving it & going over what it may need to get it on the road & then see if you want to take the motor out of it. Again, it may be dirty, in need of seats & some good TLC, but it could be a great yard truck for you. Going over it would give you more time to really think about it & that may be what you need. You seem to like older trucks & those that are a bit more unusual. The old corn binders are out there, but may not be in as good of shape. Someone would want it even with our a motor probably. I’m glad that it started & moved with our much of a problem. Keep us posted. I think the truck is cool. Blessings my friend.💥🥰✌️
