Gap is not a big issue. My Note 2 has gap between the glass and the chrome trim and it's not a big issue neither affects the usage nor the performance of the device.
Materials expand at different rates when at different temperatures. If this wasn't done there would be crackgate. I would rather have gapgate than crackgate, or worse yet bendgate [on the iFlaccid].
K Pierre hi there buddy how is your note 2 does it lags or stutters.i had the note 1 it lagged a lot and i got so annoyed that i swore never to get back at samsung again. this note 4 though might return me back to the note i am not sure.
Yafeth Koletkar well for my note to be rooted and running s5 and note 3 features it's still pretty damn fast but of course it lags a bit sometimes... It's old now lol, but I say go for it. The note is an awesome phone.
K Pierre thanks buddy. will wait for the note 4 to arrive in my country and maybe i go back to the note line. lets see i want to see a comparison between note 4 and the xperia 3
Bendgate for iPhone 6+..gapgate for Galaxy Note 4..why do industries with their biggest flagship phones do this, I can't understand. Well, at least Samsung mentioned it before people started to see it by themselves
It's not a problem. I have a Note 3 and have that same gap. It's a feature that comes when you have a frame that surrounds the front of the phone. It's completely normal, I don't see the fuss about it! Every phone with a frame surrounding the front has that gap. I won't even call it a gap actually, it seems so normal to me.
Materials expand at different rates when at different temperatures. If this wasn't done there would be crackgate. I would rather have gapgate than crackgate, or worse yet bendgate [on the iflaccid].
I have the Note 2 and have never had a problem with the gap. Have never had an issue of lent or dust or anything else in the 'gap'. I don't even notice it.
Everyone who says bendgate are dumb. You really think the phone just bends in your pocket? Or do you guys buy phones to bend them. But yea all 9 bendgates are a huge chunk of the population of iPhone users.
It isn't a flaw. The tiny gap is for the thermal expansion. Materials expands in different temperatures so they make a tiny gap to help the materials expand without causing any cracks in the future. You can find some gaps on bridges every 100m. The same reason applied here.
I can imagine an Apple employee somewhere in Cupertino getting hold a Note 4 somehow and suddenly come up with...''Gap, there's a gap! Houston, are you listening? Gap found!''. The hell with the gap. Speaker grills have gaps. The headphone jack..guess what, is a GAP! Nice try Apple. Stop being so defensive. Naughty little children they are. The S-Pen slot is a gap. There are gaps in every single piece of electrical equipment that you could slide a piece of paper into. Ridiculous really.
Christos5120 I think users should choose the colour that suits them best. That's what I think. Cos if you choose the wrong colour, you will regret. Lol.
Why all aroud are so crazy about metal in devices? Metal is very simple material. You need just some rocks and fire. You drop rocks into the fire and have some metal melted! Try to mine some plastic with analogic ease. Plastic is more technological material. So what is the problem? It is not so shiny???
Because Apple tricked them into thinking metal is the numero uno material to go with phones when they cranked out the iPhone 5, even though plastic is the more optimal one. If I want a nice feel in the hand I'd choose *leather* instead of _cold, hard _*_metal_*_._
It's funny because metal is objectively a shitty build material for a phone, especially aluminum. Everyone talks about "muh premium metal build quality" of the iPhone and M8, but those were the two weakest phones in the CR bend test.
BandNerdcp Exactly, if I were to choose a metal as a material for a phone, it'd be down low on my list, up top is probably some alloy that has magnesium. If I were to choose _any_ material however, plastic or kevlar would be a much better choice than ductile metal.
That Gap is to protect the screen from drops, look at the phone and u see the edges is slightly rounded with more space not design flaw or manufacturer default is there for a reason is a large screen ,Glass don't work with metal because metal transfer all impact energy and glass don't bend it cracks .why do u think htc one, M8 and iPhone are kings of broken screens ? That gap will save your money , only idiots think its a flaw people that design it already dropped that phone more than u will in your life They see the damages from the past and slowly bring solution u cant have metal with glass . it will not resist kinetic energy and for those idiots that think HTC M8 is good because is metal the need to see how may broken screens I think it passes iPhone lol
Here comes iSheep trying to make this as big as deal as #bendgate. I can see it already. Beautiful phone by the way. Almost tempted to sale my G3 and get this. And knowing myself it'll happen sooner then later.
Nice I have a Note 2 and ever since i got it the performance on it has not failed me. Luckily for me i can get my upgrade already and was thinking real hard on the note 4. i dont even know what to expect from the Note 4.
Thank you josh for your review.. You are probably the first person to review #note 4 n release unboxing video of it on youtube( among the channels i ve subscribed..) and that #gapgate was funny...
I'm so happy this review was posted. I needed to know whether the Mali-5433 Int . version chipset could work with US carries & obviously it worked with T-Mobile. Hopefully it can run LTE speeds as well. As far as the bendgate is concern I'll just buy a dope case to prevent that. When Samsung releases the Note5 I pray they put the speakers on the front & make a hardware fingerprint sensor on the rectangle home button instead of the inaccurate on-screen sensor
I had a fun time using the Galaxy Note 4 at Best Buy Mobile in Flint, Michigan, as it was 1 of only 2 in the whole state of Michigan! It is a big improvement actually. I still wish it had an 5.9 or 6 inch screen though. I liked the feature where you could grab an app and make it smaller to move around the screen.
Yes, I tried putting paper on side on my note 3 screen and it went in but not far..so now I am sure it is safe and will be same in note 4 as I am using NOTE 3 from past one year.
The shutter function on the back is genius. Such a beautiful design too. Im still rocking the GT-N700 (overclocked with a custom rom because i dislike touchwiz) but i actually like the look of touchwiz on this.
After watching this video I took my Note 3 and tried this with a thin paper. I put it on the frame and yes, you can put it inside. I never noticed there was a gap, no issues never, and I've not even seen it till now. So, no drama :) Note 4, my next device :)
The most beautiful phone released in 2014 followed by the LG G3. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is also the top dog currently around. There's no other handset that rivals it, not until the Galaxy S6 and LG G4 are released.
Thanks for addressing the stupid gapgate concern! I don't see any issue with the miniscule space between the metal edges and the glass panel of the phone. If the metal edge were flush with the glass the glass would rub against it and cause eventual wear after some time.
Hey Josh. I liked the dim bg. Awesome. Probably some field depth would also be great. Try it out. (Zoom in and focus in the foreground and you'll have a blurred bg aka field depth)
There's no denying that Samsung Note line is always top notch despite Touchwiz and the Note 4 in my opinion is a beastly device, despite Touchwiz.😏 Hey ***** take it easy with the neck rolling.
Solid video Josh, keep up the good work! Clearly 'Gap gate' is nitpicking, the Samsung Galaxy note 4 is a worthy offering. One important question Josh, does it bend?
Thank you for clearing up #Gapgate I have just looked at my Galaxy S 4 and it also has this "gap" but you wouldn't know to look at it, a little over 2 week until I get the note 4, however Samsung, we're not happy you've kept us waiting over a month since announcing it !!!
I'm pretty certain my S3 has a gap along the edge of the screen and I just assumed all phones have that. Yes it can be a bit of a pain when some dirt gets trapped in it but I'm pretty sure its probably saved it from drops a lot of times as well!

Other than that, this Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is going to be CHOICE!! (Will it rock the industry? We'll see.)

That wait for my new phone is KILLING me! #FirstWorldProblems
Can't wait yay
As always great job *****
Three phones in one day. Great job as always.
Jose Martinez I know, 2 more weeks!!
Can't wait to get this beast
Note for me! YESSSSS!!!!!
Ugh, Finally the iPhone noise is over, time to hear about a Smartphone that deserves "Smart" to be in its name.
CreativeType wow this was lame 😂😂
Gap is not a big issue. My Note 2 has gap between the glass and the chrome trim and it's not a big issue neither affects the usage nor the performance of the device.
My also have a gap, dont see the problem. Did not know about the gap before now.
not a big issue? dust and shit will collect there all the time
F Carv dust and that shit you mention can be cleaned but how bout the bending?
Materials expand at different rates when at different temperatures. If this wasn't done there would be crackgate. I would rather have gapgate than crackgate, or worse yet bendgate [on the iFlaccid].
Ahmad Fazli you can try not to bend like a moron your 900 dollar 7,1 mm electronic device
Love the note line, I have the note 2 and I'm thinking about getting this.. Would you recommend the upgrade Joshua???
Yes
***** I was definitely leaning towards that tho lol.. I definitely need a hands on with this phone ASAP
K Pierre hi there buddy how is your note 2 does it lags or stutters.i had the note 1 it lagged a lot and i got so annoyed that i swore never to get back at samsung again. this note 4 though might return me back to the note i am not sure.

Not an issue at all. Pre-ordered already and looking forward to getting the note 4.
Ill wait for the note 5
Why!?
Mohsen khalid maybe he has a note 3? I dont see a reason to update if you have a note 3 unless you just want a faster phone
Mohsen khalid I got the note 3 and I really dont see nothing incredibly special about the 4, unless im nissing something here
mike white Good analogy, or your stuck on a two year contract..... lol
Johnathan St. Louis
Just went to go and get it today can't wait till Christmas
Bendgate for iPhone 6+..gapgate for Galaxy Note 4..why do industries with their biggest flagship phones do this, I can't understand. Well, at least Samsung mentioned it before people started to see it by themselves

*****: Samsung is the fucking same. Their TV firmwares are shit, laggy and you can take a piss on them.
I have the Note 2 and have never had a problem with the gap. Have never had an issue of lent or dust or anything else in the 'gap'. I don't even notice it.
Always a pleasure to watch. Keep it up Joshua!
Premium phones should not have any flaw in build quality.. Samsung..Learn from apple..
*cough cough* bend gate *cough cough*
#bendgate
Everyone who says bendgate are dumb. You really think the phone just bends in your pocket? Or do you guys buy phones to bend them. But yea all 9 bendgates are a huge chunk of the population of iPhone users.

More videos ASAP please , can't wait to get my note 4.
Interesting how curved glass displays are catching on. First Nokia, now Apple, Motorola, and Samsung.
Don't really see a benefit of that
Well, the galaxy s3 had a curved 2.5 D glass before all those phones. Sooo yeah your point totally makes sense -.-
Ashish Patel ammm do you even know the galaxy s3?? Hahah It was the first one three years ago
HTC had a curved glass display as well on the One X, S, and V before Apple.
My 4 years old Lg optimus 2x got it already , no big deal.
Awesome review man. Just what I needed. Good stuff..hopefully it comes out sooner than the 17th..
I can imagine an Apple employee somewhere in Cupertino getting hold a Note 4 somehow and suddenly come up with...''Gap, there's a gap! Houston, are you listening? Gap found!''. The hell with the gap. Galaxy Note 4 Unboxing. This Phone display is amazing!
Was leaning toward the black, but after seeing this video of it up close I might get the white one.
Christos5120 I think users should choose the colour that suits them best. That's what I think. Cos if you choose the wrong colour, you will regret. Lol.
Don't go for white phones. The white becomes brownish over the time. Black remains black.
Khalifa Khoori I had the white note 2 and it didn't discolor.
Khalifa Khoori you bought a fake one from china
asspss rashes so if your mexican get the brown one or asian which color to get?
This is a present to myself. I feel like a kid who can't wait to open his Christmas present.
But.... Will it bend? XD
nope
***** the amount of idiots who takes his comment serious is too damn high.
Bending is very last week. #GapGate
***** and gapegate was there since note 2 . nobody noticed until apple fanboys were butthurt because apple sold them a tin can :D just saying
***** I was just joking, I know :]
my note 2's contract's gonna end this january! I'm gonna get this beast right away! :D
That slight micro lag though lol
I get mine tomorrow can't wait! !
lag lag lag..touchwiz is bad lg is much better but the note is still great as a device
WTH!
Idiot go and suck your rotten apple iPhone.
I don't see a single lag. And LG is much better? The G3 lags from time to time as much as the S5.
Touchwiz isn't my favorite UI either, but the lag and stutter complaints are over-exaggerated and blown way out of proportion.
LG is not any better I have the g3 and the phone freezes all the time and lags. I'm taking it back actually.
Yoooo finally *****! Looking forward to the full review!
looks nice, but I went for the note edge.
How's the edge of the Edge?
RusticKey I haven't got it as yet. Just pre-orderd it unlocked. Will be here at my door Friday hopefully.
Avinash Singh i hoping 4 that too...feeling very excited about it
Let me know how it is, I'm highly thinking of getting a Note Edge as I really like the idea of it.
Aoredon will do.
I Hope to see your review for this device, Joshua! Great job

The Note 4 is a really beautiful phone! I like the texture/pattern under the glass on the front! :) ...That gap certainly wouldn't bother me.
Here comes iSheep trying to make this as big as deal as #bendgate. I can see it already. Beautiful phone by the way. Almost tempted to sale my G3 and get this. And knowing myself it'll happen sooner then later.

That gap is another feature they added to hold documents.
great video. your presentation is always very informative and professional
Yes, I tried putting paper on side on my note 3 screen and it went in but not far..so now I am sure it is safe and will be same in note 4 as I am using NOTE 3 from past one year.
Unboxing and peeling any new phone feels and looks awesome!
You amazing thanks for the unboxing you got my like and my subcribe ;) well done cant wait to get my hands on note 4
Can't wait for the review.

Best unboxing of the galaxy note 4

Hands down the worlds best smart phone at this moment in time!
Nice unboxing and review... Loving the background music used here... Whats the title? Thanks.
Hey Josh. I liked the dim bg. Awesome. Probably some field depth would also be great. Try it out. (Zoom in and focus in the foreground and you'll have a blurred bg aka field depth)
Ready for the upgrade from my note 2!
I love his reviews.
I usually don't like Samsung phones but I can honestly say that I like how they designed this Note 4.
Getting it in white cant wait!
I love it it's perfect the best smartphone out !!!! Nothing else compares
Can't wait for the review
Ill give it to samsung they're making their phones pretty beautiful over the years and improving their performance speed and features.
Whenever it's ***** who's doing a review or whatever video, it's gonna be a very good video ;-) idol talaga oh woohoo! :-D
Buying this...Samsung has never done me wrong in years...and it's time for me to get an upgrade
I have the note 3 and I love it.... the note 4 looks amazing.... in turmoil
Oh yes . Finally Note 4 unboxing.
Great Review! how do you compare the black and white note 4 in person?
good unboxing..thank you and i want to say that no problem with the gap all the previous note have it.
There's no denying that Samsung Note line is always top notch despite Touchwiz and the Note 4 in my opinion is a beastly device, despite Touchwiz.😏
Hey ***** take it easy with the neck rolling.
Damn, a Samsung phone that I actually like design wise. That's a first.
For me this is The Phone. I hope I will get it soon and btw I don't understand why are people so upset with that gap. Many phones have that gap, especially the ones with metal+plastic build.
Wow... This phone looks beautiful 😍
I have the Note 1, Note 2 and have pre-ordered this Note 4. Just felt that there wasn't enough change to upgrade to Note 3. But this one is a beast! Just a little miffed that AT&T didn't offer 64GB. Other than that, this Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is going to be CHOICE!! (Will it rock the industry? We'll see.)
Sucks that usb 3.0 is gone. Was annoying af at first but now I feel it is a lot more sturdy. Doesn't fall out as easy or anything.
Great unboxing, can u pls post full detailed review
cant wait , this is my next phone .
Hey friend. IEM Stands for In Ear Monitor. They're a separate class of headphones all together geared for Audio Engineers, Musicians and Performers. Ear buds don't come close in terms of quality.
Glad to see Samsung actually listening to their customer and redesigning the device! Seems like apple just kinda puts out a phone with out even improving important stuff aka NFC capability, only 1gb of ram, low resolution screen, and specs from 2012 androids. But hey its apple so it must be good!
Watched a few reviews and surprised no one mentioned it... but the first thing I noticed that bothered me about Note 4 is the protruding rear camera! The lens is going to get beat up with scratches! Sure, I could get a case but it'll add bulk and cover up the premium looking phone. Also read that many cases actually scratch the metal sides.. It's on the verge of being a deal breaker for me..
nice feature samsung..now i can stick my business card on my phone too..
Finally a decent tech channel to receive the note 4. SAMSUNG WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG? NEVER HEARD ABOUT A BUZZ?
That gap is on my Samsung S4 but dosent bother me some tiny bits of dust gets in, but that's why I bought a case for my phone, tough choice though this one or the iPhone 6 plus gold, I will more then likely choose Samsung because they have been improving ever since the first note!!! I look forward To buying this device thank u for ur review.
This metal makes me excited for the build of the Galaxy S6! :D
I can't wait to upgrade from my iphone 4! Super excited
I wish they'd make a 4.7 or 5 inch note 4 mini. With all the same hardware and specs, with the only difference being the screen size.
gphillimo you mean the s4?
The gap serves a purpose. If you drop the phone, the gap is not in contact with the screen so some energy is dissipated through the frame and not so much through the glass/screen.
No one reads the manual lol. I think the gap is for the thermal expansion of the material used. Especially when it get heated up making the materials expand so its not a design flaw. Source : read some physics books.
My upgrade isn't due until December 2015, and I was wondering what phones might be coming out by then. FEEDBACK PLEASE!
Good review by the way 👍
900k! GG android authority!
Its a breathing space for the screen to not heat to much like the LG G3 keep that in mind.
My next phone!
i was thinking about getting iphone 6...but this just looks so good O.O
Where did you get the phone? I want to but that now! ! Subscribed as well!!
the Note line as always out shined the galaxy s line..........think about it?
I can't wait. But my tempered glass and spigen case won't come til November 7th. It will suck leaving those plastic covers on in the meantime!
This will be my next phone, right now I have the Galaxy S 2
Not sure why videos fly through the setup, do not show insertion of battery, sim, memory, etc. Sure would be helpful to beginners.
