Well yeah, the workers capture requires them to make direct contact with the target ship in order to override their control systems, and since at this point they haven't figured out how to isolate the beast cells yet, direct contact is very fatal. Resource in this game is never an issue, but even if it were I would never be desperate enough to capture a ramming frigate of all thing. Speaking of which, the same thing will happen to the ramming frigate if you attempt to ram an infected carrier or cruiser, however nothing really happens if it ram anything else (except cruise missiles)

It's called Infection Vaccine, but that's only in multiplayer, and it's developed post-game so it doesn't have any use in the main game.
