Thank you Dr. Snipes. I am recently becoming aware of my inner child. Sometimes it scares me. I look forward to seeing your other videos on healing the inner child.
@@DocSnipes That someone has addressed the need for service is saving in my world. I was ONLY the one to serve and was never "served" in any, any way by my parents for the child in me except for bare survival needs. And my church was the same way, only survival needs were addressed, never quality of life. So you can imagine how welcome this information is to ME!
This has been a very informative video, thanks a lot... May you please do a detailed video on how to integrate and reparent the IC that would help even further

For years I just worked nonstop to not deal with my wounded inner child but you just can't ignore these wounds or they will come out in all kinds of weird ways. My parents left me alone for very long periods of time while they traveled for work. We are talking about weeks since I was around 12. On the plus side it made me very resourceful. Although I had some scary moments and I am honestly surprised I didn't burn their house down by accident. Now people wonder why I such a fan of timers and alarms ;)
I have a problem with people aways thinking im lying. Damn near everyone. I am one of the most honest people you will meet. I have looked on RUclips to try to understand, but I’m not finding anything to help. I do have PTSD, childhood trauma, and anxiety. Probably ADHD as well. Is there any info I could research about what I do that makes people think I am a lier? I am very self aware in many aspects, but not so much on how I come off to others. I am 45 male veteran. This has been a lifelong issue for me. Thank you.
My mother would always accuse me of lying. But she is herself quite deceptive. Look at who accuses you; they are likely projecting their own behaviors onto you.
I stand up straighter than most, that usually gets translated into them claiming I think I’m better than them, that I think I’m a tough guy, or a number of other things, none of which are true. I do have a low tolerance for BS, butt kissing, or workplace politics. I just want to do my job, get paid and go home. Employers, and managers don’t like it if you don’t suck up, I flat refuse to. I am pretty flat, not very animated in those settings. If it gets heated I basically become an idiot who can’t think of what I need to say in the moment. Childhood and military there was no talking back period. Doing so only made my life worse. I am blunt, I don’t say much but if you ask be prepared for an honest answer/opinion. People generally don’t like honest opinions, especially if it doesn’t match theirs. That being said I still have issues even when none of these are really in play. Doctors, cops, pretty much everyone all the time think I’m lying. Even if they don’t say anything I can see it in their face. It doesn’t have to be anyone in any position of authority.
Thank you so much for your videos. I had cptsd and I was using your videos as a supplementary help along with my sessions with my therapist. Now I am healed from my cptsd. Again referring to your videos in my journey of rebuilding my confidence and feeling more connected to myself. I live in Nashville. Is there anyway I can take therapy from you?
How can I help my inner child to deal with romantic relationships after sexual abuse? Although I am 50 years old, this has been a problem I still struggle to deal with even after therapy...
But what if i still live in my family's toxic household yet i crave to start working on myself? I can barely take it and i absolutely hate living there, my parents, everything in there. But right now i cant move away from that. How to cope with that? And how can i even recognise my inner child if i dont have a sense of self. I feel like a shell, not real, like a ghost.
Hi @desrainis123 I saw your comment while I'm listening to this video. I know what you're going through. I'm in my 40's and I live on my own but the energy around me is toxic. It is essential at these times to create your own safe haven to talk to your Inner Child. I've learned what I need by listening to what my Inner Child likes and needs for comfort and happiness and peace! So, my safety kit is filled with watching Disney shows and movies, especially ones that make me laugh! Or any comedy movies are good too. Laughter is essential for staying sane and it has so many emotional and healing qualities. It changes how you see things, and it's a great stress-relief. I also watch a lot of videos to do with Angels, spirituality and miracles - like Matt Fraser's videos, he's amazing! Anything that gives a positive message and reaffirms that our Angels and God are always helping us even through - and especially through - the darkest times! It's important to find things that allow your mind to wander in a natural way without being on high alert or worrying all the time. This could be as simple yet effective as colouring in a mandala book which I did recently on a train and it helped me to stay present and calm. I also find going outside for long walks helps me to achieve this. It puts me in touch with the Natural world of trees, fresh air, plants, the fresh air, and even seeing animals like dogs and cats. I notice I feel like myself again and I can think clearly and I get a lot of good ideas that way. The Oxygen we get from the trees is invaluable for helping to change the mental state from depression to happiness. And in turn the trees take our carbon-dioxide, how great is that! And it doesn't have to be any formal garden - though they are awesome to walk around if you get the chance! Any street in your neighbouhood or your town or city can provide a glimpse of other worlds. Try going to different places also on buses and trains. You get to see new places and it's like a mini-vacation! You can even get some groceries or a coffee and your favourite snack and look around and pretend you're on a vacation! Your'e helping to feed your Inner Child's love of treats and adventure! And it helps to see that other things are going on as well and thriving - it gives hope. And while you're out, you're also getting the healthy workout of walking! So that's more endorphins like serotonin and oxytocin to help you feel good. Also, I find music is a life-saver and enhancer whenever I go out. I listen to different music radio stations, sometimes classical music, sometimes rock music, sometimes pop music from the 80's, sometimes a talk programme, whatever I need at that moment. It's a horrible feeling when things feels hopeless! So please don't give up. It's all about building yourself a strong retreat in your mind that you can go to at any time you need to. You can use the pain to make you stronger and become more resilient. I also watch a lot of Joel Osteen videos on youtube and he has very inspiring messages. Another thing that helps and I'll finish with this, is try saying a prayer for your situation, for your parents, that it will improve. The energy of prayer - which is just positive intention - can work wonders. Louise Hay has lots to say about this too. In your prayer, ask your Angels to help you get through it. You might need to ask them several times in a day! I know I ask my Angels for help alot! Archangel Michael helps with protecting and feeling safe. There are so many Angels you can ask to help you. And you have your very own Guardian Angel you can ask. and talk with each day. Mother Mary and Kuan Yin are also very calming ascended beings to ask for help. And you can ask God for help, whatever religion you might have. I hope you find something here that helps you. Don't worry, you haven't lost your Inner Child. They might have shut down for a while or gone quiet but your Inner Child is still with you! Now go and have fun and do something goofy with and for your Inner Child! And look for the magic in everything, whether it's Harry Potter stories/movies, Nature, find characters who have gone through similar difficult situations to help you find your powers! Angel blessings from Precious.❤
Thank you for watching the video. The inner child and ego defense mechanisms are two distinct concepts in psychology, but they can interact and influence each other in various ways. Inner Child The inner child refers to the memories and schemas from our younger selves that are stored in our subconscious. These schemas are mental shortcuts that our brain forms based on past experiences, allowing us to anticipate how we should react in similar situations. The inner child can manifest in different ways, such as the unidentified and wounded inner child, the identified but ignored inner child, and the identified healthy and well-integrated inner child. Ego Defense Mechanisms Ego defense mechanisms, on the other hand, are strategies used by the ego to protect the individual from anxiety or discomfort. These can include denial, sublimation, and displacement, among others. These mechanisms can be seen as tools the mind uses to cope with conflict or stress. Interaction The inner child and ego defense mechanisms can interact in the sense that the inner child's experiences and schemas can influence the development and use of ego defense mechanisms. For example, a person who experienced trauma as a child may use denial as a defense mechanism to avoid confronting painful memories. Similarly, a person with a wounded inner child may use displacement to manage feelings of anger or frustration. In conclusion, while the inner child and ego defense mechanisms are distinct concepts, they can interact and influence each other in significant ways. Understanding this interaction can be crucial in therapeutic settings, as it can provide insights into a person's behaviors and emotional responses.
