Thank you very much Derek for this video. Now that I have seen it and that you have said what to do then I feel confident enough to do it myself. Much appreciated.
Thanks no I don’t lacquer any movement parts , front & back plates I polish and just wax and internal parts are cleaned and treated with Renaissance wax.
@@johnbottomley373 I have tried normal lacquer but was never very happy with is but I also use this in a airbrush priorypolishes.co.uk/product/silver-brass-lacquer-100ml/

Very informative for a challenging topic. Thanks for posting this video!
thanks Dell
Interesting video Derek. Do you lacquer the wheels? If so do you protect the teeth? I guess that would introduce extra friction.

So putting coats of lacquer stop from tarnish and don't need to polish.
Yes Mark that’s correct but not the movement I just polish that and protect with Renaissance wax.
Brass lacquer is expensive. Has anyone tried a more generic lacquer on brass?

@@torsiondell What about the lacquer for musical instruments, brass and otherwise?
@@johnbottomley373 never tried it but can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be okay.
