Just fixed this issue in a 2016 Jeep patriot. It’s a blend door actuator. There’s 2 behind the glove box. The one on the left controls direction of air, and the one on controls heat and a/c. Auto zone has in stock for $30-$41. Just remove glove box, and have a flashlight handy. Not the easiest job, screws are a pain. But very easy fix.

OK. Found out what was causing the Clicking noise. The Air Conditioning filter was not re-installed properly back into the tray inside the glove box. Whenever I take my car to get an oil change, or an inspection, they always try to upsell you on stuff. That Air conditioning filter is one of them. They just put it back in incorrectly causing a jam that causes it to catch internally making a clicking noise. UGH. Glad I watched this video, and almost bought a new actuator, but that was not the issue. Just going to buy a new filter online, instead of the 4X markup they do at those service stations. Also changing my own oil again from here on out.

I watched another video and jt seems to be assiciated with self check at the start caused by actuator getting stuck between open to outside air or closed. For cheaper free solution just unplug the actuator [on the right for grand caravan] when the position is on closed. Who needs fresh air from outside nowadays with covid and all greek letters variants😂

bigpaulbunyan63 My 2012 Patriot is making the same tapping noise. There is another youube video on how to fix a similar noise on a Chrysler 200. The noise was due to a "heater actuator" that was removed and replaced. On the Patriot it is very different behind the glovebox as shown here. I'd like to know how to fix it myself because it costs quite a bit to have it fixed by an auto service.
