I've had the quad lock for over 4 years. And 100% agree with the vibration issue the dampener "solves" if they know it's a problem it should come in the box 🤷🏻♂️
(Not to sound really old or nothin', but...) I still have a magnetic tank map holder. You fold up a paper state map to show the area you're in. I only use my phone as a music player on the bike.
I've been using the same Ram mount on multiple bikes for years. It has a plate with 6 adjustable prongs that holds your phone very securely. I was hit by an F350 and the phone stayed in the mount with no damage.
I got my wife the Quadlock with the charger base and vibration damper for Christmas. It replaced a Ram Mount X-grip that I moved over to my bike. So far she likes the Quadlock over the X-grip.
the Nelson Rig seems the best for me. or quadlok, but they dont have my case so i would have to use the sticky one which unnerves me lol. the Nelson you could come home and pop it on the fridge if you wanted or like you said on your tool box. good vid man
very informative, Flip. I've used the Rokform and Quadlock mounts. It's hard to pick between them because of the case requirements. Rokform has (IMO) very few models that they make cases for which is a huge downside. I have tried to use their 'universal' mount, and have had mixed results with them. The first one I used worked great, then I got a new phone/case and the 2nd one would not stay stuck to the case and fell off before I made it out of the driveway. I currently am rocking the quadlock mount. Like you, I don't like the single pivot point on the mount or the fact that the case won't sit flat.
I still have my tank bag that has magnets in it. Has a clear face for maps and well my phone. The angle though... It kind of sucks but it works to keep the phone in place and if I need to charge it while rolling I can.
I’ve used all of those but the Quadlock… I have found a super awesome set up…. The Rolform ball mount connected to a Ram Ball. When it comes to RamMount unite I prefer the huge squareish one they used to call the ATV mount. It’s ugly but works…
A good informative video, I recently went through the phone mount saga when i put new bars on. I have been using the standard quadlock mount for years, but the new bars are fat and the mount no longer fit, I went for the RAM ball mount on the clutch switch cluster with a friction mount. It looks ugly when the phone isn't on it, but its a means to an end. The down side is, I also have a bunch of old cases for phones I no longer have. Also I have a leather magnetic pouch I used to use on my tank, and I can attest to be careful of the magnets, I went through a dusty area and scratched my tank, it was my fault for not cleaning the mounting area first.
your body language says it all. my gripe is that we all have phone cases, and they expect everyone to throw away what they paid for and buy more crap. i don’t see them “giving” us the phone case, so don’t expect us to just throw ours away. at the end of the day it seems like mounting an expensive cell phone is NOT a good idea, unless you don’t care about the expensive camera.
I’ve got the Freakmount and Iphone promax 13….and yes the buttons are in the way so I have to put the phone unevenly in the bracket…..good for town driving but not Highways
Personally, i NEVER worry about scratches and stuff on my Harley, because unlike a car, on a bike EVERY SCRATCH should tell a story. I feel that a bike SHOULD start to look worn and ridden, it SHOULD tell a story of the owner who rode it. lol.
I would love the 1/4 turn locks but the phone cases block being able to do wireless charging & I live by those things. :D I love the CHIRO one I have on my StreetGlide, and I got a FreakMount magenet-style one for my LR-S but not had the weather lately to go test it.
I don't see getting a new case when you upgrade your phone as a con because I'm getting a new case when I get a new phone. These phones are too fragile and slippery without a case. I love my quad lock with dampener and wireless charging.
Tried the quadlock once, literally once, on my dual sport bike. Had a slight fall and it broke the quadlock. Over $100 bucks down the drain. I’ve been using the TackForm mount for about 2 years and I love it. No plastic parts to break either, it’s all aluminum.
Flip good to see you, looking forward to seeing you doing more episodes on your motorbikes. The different phone holders look a great idea, but some people have had problems with mounts snapping off, especially when riding over rough terrain over long distances. Do you still have your Triumph Bonnie, if so you could give Weems some advice about that T100 he is thinking of swapping his brother's Harley for.
Looking forward to the giveaway! Thank you to all who have watched the video to the 20:47 mark... and who have come over to our channel to participate. Your comments have been great. And... EXTRA thanks to those who have participated in the Bonus Entry. Love learning what you ride! Be safe out there... and keep your comments coming!
None is right for me. I keep it in my motojacket breast pocket. Why? Because what happens if you crash or someone hits you and you're alone and injured. You better hope you can get to that bike and get the phone. Hit and Run, running of the road because of gravel, friends didnt see you crash ect? Better have your phone on you. I have never had a problem with punching in a destination into google maps and just using earbuds for audio nav directions. Dont put your phone on your bars.

The phone in the Nelson Rig case will over heat if riding in hot weather with the sun beating down on the clear plastic. Mine got very hot.
Been wanting to know the major difference and details with these mounts. Thanks !
Blue loctite for threads, all worries are gone

Smart!
Food to see ya back man, I try to leave my phone in my pocket to so I'm not bothered lol peace ✌
The ODIN Mfg ad has me cracking up!
Quadlock does well for me. I did the cheapos before the rubber band pieces break especially if kept out in the sun
I’ve been using the Rokform for over 2 years. The cost of a new case and vibration damper suck, but overall I trust it to do the job.

Sportbike chic has a nice tank purse I like using all the time that holds your phone

Your cat looks just like my cat. I thought he was on my desk for a second.

Quad-lock cases now have magnets in too

I chose FreakMount, and I am good with it.
Good info! Thanks Flip
My pocket, and the greatest thing it came free with my jacket. Good to see you again.
How about something that’s compatible with a leather tank bib? Pretty sure leather ain’t magnetic…..
even on my silky smooth k1600 i use a quadlock with a dampener
I really really like your review content.
Have you heard of the GUB Phone mount?
Don’t mount a new iPhone to your handlebars. Now when I zoom in to take a pic my camera shakes like looking at my mirrors.
Where did flip Na go?
