Long version! Awesome, thanks so much for uploading this. Love that I'm still catching unseen clips of Mullen. All we had back in the day were his short parts in the Bones Brigade videos. If I knew then how many other impressive tricks he had on lock, I'd have been even more floored. I would have watched something like this five times a day.
He was so far ahead of his time. Not a single young pro even today in the 2020s could have beat him in a contest even with their skills today, when comparing technicality, speed, consistency and the amount of tricks. His choreography in his routines were spot on, a lost art form most freestylers don't practice much today, mostly throwing out trick after trick. Hands down, Rodney is and always will be the all time reigning champion of Freestyle.
@@worldround-up2983 Well aware of all the new generation freestyle skaters. No one compares to the King/innovator of most flatland tricks and for all the reasons already mentioned. No one replaces anyone, everyone has their own skills, abilities and limitations.
Well in freestyle you likely would only need knee pads. But since the board is rock solid you should be fine when u land. And considering he’s likely a pro even though he’s in his teens he knows what he’s doing.
Greatest innovator. Period....

This is what the world actually looked like in 1984 - it's nice that we have more colors now

I' d look up Isamu Yamamoto. Rodney has met him and thinks he's the next prodigy.

The best
04:17 Damn that was stylish
Entertaining af
The fact that this could probably get him world champion of freestyle today is saying something.
Guess he‘s using one of this magic boards.
Call me simple... the spacewalk is the smoothest trick ever.
Imagine how many kids picked up a board because of this guy.
Imagine if he went back there with his modern arsenal of street skating tricks.
前半は、清瀬?
He’s not wearing his pads and helmet!

In the second part it looks like he installed copers on his trucks!?
not sure, but could be to have a better grip doing pogo /stationary tricks .
