I was in the greengrocers the other day. I thought they were playing the Bee Gees as background music. It was my mistake. It was just the chives talking
This week I bought 400 gms of 5 % fat beef mince. Two tins of chopped tomato's, a pack of mushrooms and a red bell pepper. I added a couple of garlic cloves and some Italian seasoning. Cooked it on low for 40 minutes. I ended up with 4 good portions of spag bol. The cost was under a fiver. If you buy ' ready made ' it's going to cost over £2.50 a portion and will have no taste like a real spag bol. Chilli Con Carne works out even better by the time you add in the red beans. Mince and onions with mash is even better price wise. Chicken curries are also better tasting and a lot cheaper. I teach " cooking on a budget " lessons to my community. I'm not a chef but I do know how to cook on a budget. When you buy cheap microwave meals ? That's what you get. Low meat content and high fat content. If you want to give your family a healthy meal ? Cook it from scratch. The extra 30 minutes or so are well wirth it.
We know that, but that's not what this channel is about really. Why don't you start your own youtube channel, I'm sure it will be a hit. If you do see if Gareth will plug it for you. I'll watch it.
You had me worried in your last video gazza! I thought you was saying goodbye for good! Glad it was for a milestone mate, much deserved! Hopefully more well deserved subscribers join us! 👍🏻🤘🏻
For saving money I have been eating road kills,,, out side Waitrose they are tasty, but a little scorched with tyre tracks of a jaguar,, Aldi road kill has been over tenderised by lorries.but spread enough to feed a lot more. Petrol station road kill is already prepared for BBQ - and flames well. Just saying.
Thank you Gareth for your honest and amusing reviews. I watch them as a type 2 diabetic who cannot sample any of your delicious food, and am always salivating ! Great channel, please keep posting.
Not true that you cannot sample any of his food because of type 2 diabetes you can eat anything as long as it's in moderation and check your glucose on a daily basis so please don't play that one😏
Put posh words n cheese on the packaging and hike the price up! They're all at it! There's no escape us all being had over a barrel in supermarkets! Honest review though 👍
Hi Gareth being watching your channel for a while first comment I have sent you are a honest and genuine guy like your reviews keep up the good work ...take care two you and your family ....
For emergency onion shortage get a bag of frozen chopped onions. Most supermarkets stock them for about £1 a bag. Then you will always have some onions! They're good, too. You can fry them from frozen. Always good in a burger.
I'm an old geezer and an ex squaddie. My income now comes from my pensions and disability payments. I'm not pleading poverty, but I do have to watch the pennies. That's why I love Gareth's channel. He reviews food based on price, taste and overall value from different stores. But I do see that consumer trends are changing from when I was younger. My mum would buy the basics and create a family meal. Today ? I think that people are getting lazy and paying too much for their food. I buy fresh ingredients and make my own. I can make Chilli Con Carne, Spaghetti Bolognese or a curry from scratch for a fraction of the price of the price of today's single meal prices. Maybe it's convenience, maybe it's because it's because of laziness or because of the gimmicky advertising. Who really wants to spend time preparing a meal for 40 minutes, when you can microwave a meal in 10 minutes ? I look at it from a health view. Buy better raw meat with less fat and fresh veg and spend an extra 20 minutes in the kitchen. I teach " cooking on a budget " to my community, and it goes down really what's the point of having a well equipped kitchen if you only use the microwave ?
It's personal preference, but I like to squash these kind of fresh burgers down so they aren't so thick and spread out to fill the bun better. Will also cook quicker.
I would normally agree with the not messing, however, I did try the new melt in the middle burgers in Sainsbury's last week and they were surprisingly good! Recommended. (It's not fancy cheese, more of the American cheese sauce style gooey stuff, but it's tasty)
Love when you make your little jokes … those are my favourite kind of giggles…the escape’pea gets me every time🤭😂 Another brilliant review. Have a good one 🥂cheers x
Loss of sleep now with seal peel test Gareth. What i do when watching i do guess of price i guessed 3.79 so I was not far off . Did you do a comparison on frozen roast potatoes just a question
You always look like you’ve gone to Heaven when you enjoy the taste. As a cheese and burger hater, I wouldn’t buy or taste these, but I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
Got a pack.of them off the reduced section in our asda today, look forward to seeing what they're like in a bun with some lettuce and onions sometime this week hopefully. And funnily enough got the same baps and also the Hughes bakery is just down the road from us. Very nice baps
Saw some of them in my local Asda last week on the reduced shelf. Still a bit pricey for me at £2.80 for 2 burgers. Might give them a try if I see them reduced again just because of your comments about them being nice and beefy. I'd make sure I had some onion and mature cheddar to add though. :)
Tasted the plain variety a little while back. It's good to know that these are tasty and good. Husband would like them. Asda used to do a fab burger relish but no more.... Burgers look nice and fat, not much shrinkage in those. When you cut thru the burger (and that fantastic roll) it reminded me of the first 'burger joint' opened in Glasgow (pub/restaurant was always there just revamped it's menu). The burgers came as 2 to a bun, cheese slices, lettuce tomato cucumber (not a dill pickle in sight) scatter of fried onions and a bit of sauce.... It was fab... But the etiquette of eating burgers hadn't followed the food and to a man everyone sat and dissected their bun in half and half again using knife and fork. Each quarter was cut as bite size pieces with knife and fork and we all ate it with knife and fork. It came with coleslaw and of course a Glasgow salad (ie fab hot chips) mustard was in one of those squeeze bottles on the table and of course extra tomato sauce. It took a while for people to eat it with fingers, (because in UK we must have table manners and use a knife and fork......) . That first bite of the burger looked great... Your facial expressions cannot tell a lie. Thank you for doing all that hard work....
I was in Asda earlier on today and I asked the checkout girl if the burgers were gluten free and she said 'no, you have got to pay for them like everyone else '!😂
Hi Gareth, Lovely Review. I will Make my own Burgers anymore as i have more Control of the Quality of Meat in them. A lot of burgers are made of very poor Beef and a little Horse through it with spice too.
We've been getting the Asda Flavourful Smash burgers, 8 for £4.75 (680g) We think they're really nice. Kids throw all sorts on them. I stick to a nice mature or vintage cheddar with Ketchup(no onion), The wife prefers Red Leicester with onions. Couple of them each = Nice! We used to buy the Birdseye beefburgers, they were huge, sadly can't get them these days....... :(
Hi, Gareth. I would have had to slap a couple of Dairylea slices onto that with some fairground onions. Baby Gem IS better than iceberg on a burger; you CAN tell the difference, tho' personally I wouldn't add lettuce or tomato to one in the 1st place. Top post, yoof 👍.
I get fresh burgers at my specialty market north of me in New York State (north of Albany, NY) I love their portebello gouda burgers as well as bacon cheddar, made from fresh ground meat. I wonder if the local butcher would make fresh burgers? I love mustard and ketchup together; I put both together, top and bottom. And I like my burgers rare as you can taste the flavour of the meat. Great review Kind sir Gareth!
Snap !! Gareth, I having Cheese burger for tea, double burger with cheese and onion with McCain chips washed down with a full fat coke, it's my weekly blow out, Enjoy mate Take care
You're a brave soul buying pre-made burgers. For the price you could buy fresh mince and make your own and add whatever you like for a whole lot cheaper. You just never know what the manufacturer puts in there products. Best to make your own. Good video, thanks for sharing.
My sister worked in Harrods. She was in charge of the ground floor. Oh the stories she has to tell of some of the celebrities who visited. She knew Dodi Fayed and Princess Di and said what lovely people they were. Not so Fergie’s Dad whose visit was full of incident!!
I wonder if you could do a video on ALDI's essentials grated Cheddar & grated Mozzarella, blue & green bags respectively. I like to make my own cheese sauce for Cauliflower cheese. However I gave these a try & the sauce was a mess. It says it's Cheese, Milk & potato starch. Now, from how it melted down & mixed in with the milk, I'm thinking it was 15% milk, 5% cheese & 80% potato starch. It in my view isn't cheese in the slightest, tastes like cheese, but that's all it is. So I'd love to see you do a review on them first by cheese eaten as is, then trying to melt it on something as it doesn't act like cheese.
Showing your age with the Del Monte man, gave me some good memories of shouting that school😂 Nice looking burgers to be fair and I do like a bit of chives, but didn’t seem many in there
Interesting, I thought I might have been having a trip to Asda but no. If I have burgers I always put my own extra mature or Vintage cheddar on or sometimes blue stilton. So called burger cheese is tasteless to me especialy the American cheeses. P.S. two things I’m never without, onions and beer.
4 100% quarter pounder beef burgers from Iceland (£3.50), cheesy singles (£1) plus some onion, so for around £5 or less, 4 quarter pound burgers as opposed to £7 for 4 and you get 100% beef not 80%
Hi gareth love a burger i would add some red onionsfinely chopped on the top of the burger and grated cheese then put under grill just to melt When the burger is cooked then put the toppings on the burger and melt under grill. Hmm delicous. Keep up the good reviews. Ann in Cumbria. 😊😊😊.

You should do a comparison between Tesco's Stockwell's steak in gravy tin, with other supermarket's steak in tins. Because I think the Stockwell's is very good for under £2.00!
Bernard Mathews used to sell British turkeys but it turns out, they were reared abroad, transported over to here & then killed here which allowed him to call them British birds. Those burgers are well thick. Good video mate !!
The ingredients are 👍in UK,but that bones may be in there statement, no can do! I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it. Bones for God’s sakes‼️ Luv your channel 🍀. The burger looked really good 😋 We have that same lettuce, comes in 4 pack, same mustard, & a new ketchup hopefully we’ll get at that price
I don't know about any Mafia involvement 😂.... but I've tried both cheap and expensive ones and there is definitely a difference, I only use the expensive ones now as the flavour difference is very obvious to me.
Hi all. These Burgers were in date when I reviewed them. Last week I think I filmed this. All the best 👍 😋
Del monte.... hahaha I thought they did tinned pineapples😂
No problem Gareth I never look at dates only in shops though
I was in the greengrocers the other day. I thought they were playing the Bee Gees as background music. It was my mistake. It was just the chives talking

Yeah. Beats having an awkward cricket ball of beef that destablises the whole thing.
Hi Gaz, the quality of "dad jokes" in your reviews and in your comment section just keeps getting better and better....I'm luvin it, thank you.😊

Thanks 👍
Great review Gareth. They look a good size and never tried those before so will give them ago
Always lovely to see Dave's scales . Those burgers looked nice, i was expecting a higher score.
No cheese unfortunately
It was the lack of cheese that pushed the score down.

Good one I've not yet. Thanks
better off getting ya standard 4 burgers for 2.99 and adding cheese and onion yourself by the sounds
Ah, but these are steak burgers, a slightly better quality than standard burgers.
😂😂 loving turning the leaf
Haha cheers

The gourmet ones with brisket and Chuck meat are really nice
Looks lovely mate, looks a lot better than what you would get from burger king or McDonald's!
I miss cheese and chives crisps lol
Hi, Seabrook still do cream cheese and chives crisps or Tyrrells do mature cheddar and chive crisps.
@@martinwebb1681 oh ok I'll look out for them 👍

Great video again Mr G,can you do a review on a Beef Stroganoff meal please 👍🇬🇧

They are good burgers Gareth. When I had mine cut it into 4 could not eat it all. Learnt from the best 😅😅😅

Made in uk? Parmesan cheese Italy?
The Man from del Monte he say yes
Hi Gareth from Spain. That is not a hamburger, it is what is commonly called a **&^&*((&^&*. A proper Hamburg Steak is nothing like that - I know, i used to make them with a German looking over my shoulder.
Sainsbury's do a pack of four beefburgers with cheese for about the same price. They are really nice.

I love a burger. If i buy them i use my George Foreman grill to drain the fat off.
'The man from del monte' bit cracked me up, I had to watch again. 😂

Thin ones every time mate. Fat ones always bow up in the middle
I went in Harrod's once I asked what you can get for £5 and they said a carrier bag 😄😄
Haha 👍
Think you're right about the chives!
😂David's coming to your house ,you never thanked him for the scales?🤣🤣🤣good review I still prefer butchers burgers?

Will have a look cheers
Turning over a new leaf classic 🤣🤣🤣
The red onion version from ASDA is banging Gareth.

hi Gaz from down south, our Tesco does not sell that Del Monte sauce.burgers look good.but i think tesco's own are best
Try the Red Leicester cheese and caramelised onion Burgers from aldi m8.
Cheers Warren
Bung some onions on and a slab of cheese and they be mint! 🤗
They looked well nice, fat and juicy. I usually get my Burgers from the CO-OP but I'll certainly give those a try next time I'm near an ASDA. Some extra cheese, onions (raw), tomatoes and some French's mustard and ketchup and they'll go down a treat. Thanks. 👍
Cheers
Big thumbs up m8
Cheers
You should do a comparison between Tesco's Stockwell's steak in gravy tin, with other supermarket's steak in tins. Because I think the Stockwell's is very good for under £2.00!
Think I've done one in past, my comparisons are all out of date now.
Seal peal test gone wrong (stuck to fingers) 😂
Great review Gaz if you’re going to put cheese in a burger at least put a decent amount in and keep up with the great tasting 👍👍

thats funny , i've just sat down and eaten these for my lunch lol
Did you rate them, worth the price?
@@ferrumignis thought they were delicious
In fact Birds Eye thin burgers are very tender and nice.
That was your best joke yet Gaz lol
