Nice job Vic, that colour is bloody nice and a piece your daughter will cherish for many years to come. Your craftsmanship is second to none. Beats talking about tools and jigs and putting your skills to the test aye. Very enjoyable.
Great dresser build, Vic. I thought pink on wood might be overkill, but this looks like just the right shade. And love that dowelling jig and its accuracy!
The materials used initially seemed like the piece was going to be ho-hum, but far from ho-hum, this is perfect. I wish I could reach your level of precision.
@@DownUnderWoodWorks Yeah, that is precisely my problem, jack of all trades, master of none and I love it all. Still, I have some draws to build for the back of the station wagon, so maybe I just take extra care with my measurements and techniques and see if everything fits well and looks acceptable.
Another beautiful project Vic. I always learn some new technique or idea when watching. That simple chamfer on the the side panels is a stroke of genius and something I struggled with. I have to borrow that idea for next time!
Thanks very much Anthony. I’m glad to hear that. It’s always good to hear from viewers that they picked up a tip or trick or learnt a new technique from my videos, helps keep up the motivation to keep posting. See you at the meetup?
Lovely classic dresser, in a classic color for a girl's room! The gold on the drawer pulls adds a princess touch. Beautiful work. Using melamine for the drawers makes them easy to clean, very practical. Your dresser will become a family heirloom.
You're so meticulous and precise Vic, love to watch you work. Came up a treat. Now, I've been delaying a paint gun purchase for a while for smaller/furniture projects, looks like bunnies sells a 690 kit with two guns, thoughts? Finally, yes to icecream thanks, we don't get a truck coming past anymore out my way so you'll have to bring it down with you sorry 😉
Thanks Mario. I think the meticulous nature of my work stems from the fact that I'm never in a rush, always happy to just plod along enjoying maximum time in the workshop (and also that im a perfectionist, can be good, can be bad). Yeah, that ice cream truck comes past my place every Sunday.
Great work Sir Victor, artistry & precision all the way & I’m grateful to view making content like yours as always without having to sell out by putting prices & lying thumbnails out to gain views & subscribers. Keep up doing the honest work & content you have done since you began DownUnder Woodworks 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks Joe. To be honest, I think Bunnings must have got the message with all the jokes about their wood because if you look at those 2x4s in the video, they’re some of the best I’ve seen.
Yes mate, it gives a better finish but a lot of us have had it drummed into our heads to always keep the blade as low as possible and that's correct but there's always exceptions to every rule. Be safe though.
Hey hey, the ol'K4 still getting a run :D One part is definitely better, YT has been tending towards longer vids lately and this makes a much better story as one. Beautiful work from average wood mate, shame the Chopper has been relegated back into the workshop 😅😅
The K4 is perfect for the amount of pocket holes I use so thanks again for that James. It has been a nice change lately seeing a lot more long form videos in my feed and from my the channels I follow. I knew this build was going to be a long one on video but I'm glad I kept it as one. The increase in longer videos and the fact that second or third videos in a series never do as well as the first gave me the confidence to keep it as one long video.
A great piece Victor. I'm sure she will love it. I want to know which Bunnings you went to, to find straight 2 X 4's, and with a low moisture content 😉🤪. I don't think I have come across an Ozzie creator that does not use the sauce bottles for glue. I'm a cheep scape. I cruse the streets looking for old verge collection furniture, which I then break down and re purpose. And as to the drum sander, Why didn't you ask me earlier, I could also have told you from experience ( and cost) not to do it .
Thanks mate. I was just as surprised as you when I saw the quality of the 2x4s at my local Bunnings. they must have changed suppliers. I've been using the sauce bottle since before I started RUclips. Nothing wrong with kerbside timber mate, i do it too. Good for the environment. Sometimes the best lessons are learnt the hard way.
Thank you very much mate. Sorry about the ending but at that stage I was so over the editing process which took me an eternity. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
I don’t think it is but I’ll check now that you mention it. The reason why I don’t think it is, is because they sell treated pine 2x4s that are labelled as that and are in a different section.
@@DownUnderWoodWorks I just looked it up and it is H2 treated pine, it took over the section that used have untreated structural pine, I would be very interested if Your Bunnings have done away with untreated structural pine and even nonstructural pine (they do sell some of that really crappy 70x35 non structural pine). It's a really weird thing that I would love to get to the bottom of.
looks great mate, ever used the gifkins dovetail jig by any chance? i ordered one today, shipping was steep to ireland but im keen to try it out, cheers.
Nicely done! I always find it funny when people dump on 2x4's. They are perfectly fine in things like this!
Thanks John. if you look at those 2x4s that were in my local Bunnings, I've never seen straighter.
@@DownUnderWoodWorks That's true, a lot of the time they aren't. I guess grain of salt, if they are in good condition, they are perfectly fine, haha.
What a fantastic job and the colour looks great thanks for sharing your time and skill and sharing this fantastic video thanks again Vic 🍺🍺👍👍🇬🇧
No problem Brian, my pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you.

Thanks very much mate, she’s pretty happy with it as am I. 👍
Knocked it out the park on this build. Inspirational, thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Alonzo. Thank you
Great work Vic. Shows what patience and skill can do with what some people would bin.
Thanks very much Glyn. Yes, some people unnecessarily think these types of materials are not for furniture making
She must love it and it is surely going to stand the test of time!
She does Juliet and I hope it does.
Beautiful piece. Love the use of available materials as well. Cheers.
Thanks mate, that was my goal for this project. Glad you liked it.
as usual a fantyastic result from a master craftsman with an eye for detail. thank you for sharing
Thank you very much mate. Glad you liked it and thanks for watching 👍🏼
Well done mate.👍👍 I expect the young lady this was built for thinks the same. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Great dresser build, Vic. I thought pink on wood might be overkill, but this looks like just the right shade. And love that dowelling jig and its accuracy!
Thanks Suj. Yeah the colour was perfect because its not a bright pink. The Dowelmax is so good mate.
Great vid!!! Great angles and love the look at that Wagner sprayer. Might need to upgrade mine!! Great build Vic and top result!
Thank you very much Ainslee. I was always happy with my original sprayer and never thought id have to upgrade but the new one is even better.
Great build mate! Love watching your videos I always pick up a trick or two from them! Cheers!
Thanks mate, its good to know that.
REally fine job there Vic. Shows you can do grade A work with what's at hand :)
True. Thank you very much Rob

great video victor , i like your dowel jig , it is on my wish list very nice build came up very nice

About the sprayer Mario, I would definitely recommend. I always thought my older one was great but the new one is even better.

Nice tip about the blade height on Melamine Vic, I didn't know that

That blue structural timber is treated pine right? I am wondering is, like mine, your local Bunnings has stopped stocking untreated structural pine?
