Brother i used a 4ft propane torch when I was scrapping back 10 years ago. You can get a big propane tank that will last weeks if not months. You will love it. New sub here👊

Pretty cool job to get. Glad you answered my question because I was wondering what the acetylene cost would be for a big job like that. But there was something missing from this video, I just cant put my finger on it...lol
Did that work for about 8 years in Germany. Worked at a scrap yard in between jobs cutting steel. Dismantling factory machinery and large tanks mostly. You should buy a scrapper cutting torch, the start at about a meter long, have a 45 angled head. Makes life easier. Propane is better that acetylene for this work in my opinion.
What did your prices do for September? Here in Eastern Iowa they sank to $40/ton for shred, including car bodies. #1 iron prepped is $80/ton. Not looking good for next month either. I've officially switched from paying for scrap to charging for the service.
We just took a big hit. Luckily this new yard still pays me contractor pricing after 2 years of not coming lol but tin is $95 a ton and prepared #1 is $165
man where u scrapping at i know every state prices are differnt but right now here in louisiana the prices is the lowest its ever been an im getting 12 a 100lbs an im mad about......use to get 15 a 100 yr an a half ago......
I love working with steel! whether I'm cutting it, welding it and making old steel that had a former life as one thing and making it into something totally different giving it a new lease on life, I would love a scrap job cutting stuff up like this with a torch! it's like getting paid twice!

This was a great video and that's a lot of steel to cut , looked like you could of used a welders shirt ( the leather long sleeve) . I saw the hot metal get your shirt . Also was wondering where is your sidekick ?
To anyone with a doubt about propane VS acetylene (other gases in a minute!) consider this! Propane is about 900 degrees less than Acetylene which means almost NOTHING in a scrapyard sense! A few seconds more to pre-heat is all. Once you go lever, you are JUST AS FAST! Acetylene is for SHOPS because of clean slag-less edges, accurate kerfs with little melt-over, etc. I taught many scrap burners and I tell them "THIS TORCH IS AN AXE NOT A SAW!!" in showing lead-in and the "forest fire effect". This is the key as some of you may know!................Propane torch tips can take abuse, the "roar" of a burn-back into the head is a constant problem with immersion of the torch into or too close (necessary at times" to the work with acetylene. The tanks are massive, expensive, and actually dangerous to have in an abusive environment. Chemically speaking acetylene molecules use a huge amount of oxygen for the actual flame to burn correctly compared to propane. AS TO THE GASES LIKE PROPYLENE, MAPP, OR OTHERS i THINK THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE EXPENSE. I NEVER encountered them in my work!!! The tips are not inset much and they get beat up pretty fast. The edge of these gases and especially of acetylene is the RAPID flame front THEY HAVE. THIS ALLOWS YOU TO DELIVER AN INTENSE HEAT IN A TINY AREA, WHICH IS WHERE ACETYLENE IS KING!!!

What Carlos said is a good way. I had a friend that was strictly in resale of storage unit items etc. And he rigged up a washing machine motor to a metal 5 gallon bucket and put used motor oil in it then 3/4 wash gravel then tools and it worked surprisingly well. It's an overkill for homeowner but at the rate he was finding mistreated tools it was perfect. Thank you for watching and
Nice Clean Scrap I Always Used Propane With oxygen Cutting Scrap metal Last longer and works out cheaper keep those Bucks Rolling that hopper if concrete inside we used to light fire in them it will free it off Great Video thanks have a good one
I've been tempted to switch to propane, used it a couple times very briefly. The concrete is fly ash powder inside that tank I just cut it in half today. Very dusty nasty stuff. Had concrete boogers in my nose all day from it hahahaha
I'm about 75% done now and I've used 4 oxygen and 2 acetylene but I use the torch more than just on this job so not sure what actual usage for just this job is
@@1320LUV save yourself time and money and use Oxy-Propane. I used a 100lb propane tank for an entire year of scrapping. That's about $60 give or take to fill. It also cuts much better once you figure out how to do it.

One of your best videos, Looks like you’ve got oxyacetylene but I recently got a oxypropane cutting torch. At the bottom it’s got some debris in the filter is it safe to use? ( really don’t know much about oxypropane cutting but am trying to learn)
I've used a friends oxy propane a couple times and didnt really like it due to doesnt seem as hot as acetylene but maybe his wasnt set up right. I wish I could give you some info but I know very little about oxypropane. Thank you for watching and commenting

I have cut for 40 years! Super-heavy industrial jobs for scrap-yards. Mill rolls. Locomotives. Hammer bases 8 feet thick. Enormous bridge built-up girders. Railroad cars. Barges. I have been around the world on this shit! There are a million hazardous moves a high-burner can make! (a lay-down burner is one who cuts in a burn field. The high burner dismantles like you do. NOT necessarily "up high" in the air- it's just a generic term!). I saw you make what is a potential dangerous move. You might have known that and considered what I am about to say, but for a novice watching your videos it is a point to make. At about 15:52 there is a hazard there. IF THERE WAS NOTHING TO CATCH THE END OF THE BEAM LIKE THE DECK BELOW, to cut the top first, web second, and then finish with the base pulling the torch towards you, will set up a potential tragedy! The beam will eventually POSSIBLY RAPIDLY SWING DOWN and a pendulum effect will swing it back further than 90 degrees down, it can break off, and since your last metal bit hanging on is closest to you, that beam section will rotate counter-clockwise on its way down and IF that beam breaks loose it will somersault TOWARDS you and land on your legs, hit your body, or knock you down!!! What I would do is this. MAKING SURE A SUDDEN DROP FROM HORIZONTAL is what I want and is actually safe and clear to do, is cut the bottom first, down or up the web next, and then the top from one side to a spot close to the middle, finish the cut from the other side to meet in the middle. At some point the beam section will break loose and shoot STRAIGHT DOWN! NOW I AGREE CUTTING THAT SECTION THE WAY YOU DID WAS CORRECT, but you have high skills I am sure, and you can turn your videos into "tricks of the trade" like a safety lesson, for the novices out there!!! How about the time I knew a guy cutting a cement mixer with a far-forward engine over the front axle and the rear with a large over-hang! He cut the frame in the middle, reaching OVER the frame to cut the LAST cut on the other side, figuring the frame would drop, and INSTEAD EACH SECTION FLEW UP IN THE AIR AND SERIOUSLY INJURED HIM WHEN HE WAS FLUNG IN THE AIR AFTER A BODY-SLAM! He should have considered this possibility!!!
suggestion : get a bigger torch or a plasma cutter it will help cut stuff faster. only a suggestion not trying to tell you what to do. also are you wearing cutting glasses or goggles? and last suggestion have someone there when climbing it helps having someone that doesn't have the wind knocked out of him to call 911.
All is good bud 👍thank you for advice..... I have a #3 tip in that small torch but keep the oxy and acetylene low so it doesnt use as much.... it takes a little more time to heat up metal but the bottles last longer from my experience. I'm very cheap as well that's why I haven't bought a 4 or 5 foot demo torch lol there like $500 and I would only use it 2 or 3 times a year. Yes steel is free as long as I remove..... the company rents a dumpster and I'm responsible to clean up any trash after the job is done. Gopro is good except for extreme heat over 100°

Yes I started off wearing leathers but it was just too hot on that concrete lot plus heat of torch. Theres nothing for badger to do while I'm torching

Yes, I marked out all the cuts first then cut them to avoid having to turn torch on and off unnecessarily.
You need an aftermarket lift pump. The Vp pumps on the 24 valves like the extra fuel pressure.
That's what I've heard, or maybe the suction tube in tank is cracked and sucks a little air when tank gets below half

NOW I AGREE CUTTING THAT SECTION THE WAY YOU DID WAS CORRECT, but you have high skills I am sure, and you can turn your videos into "tricks of the trade" like a safety lesson, for the novices out there!!! How about the time I knew a guy cutting a cement mixer with a far-forward engine over the front axle and the rear with a large over-hang! He cut the frame in the middle, reaching OVER the frame to cut the LAST cut on the other side, figuring the frame would drop, and INSTEAD EACH SECTION FLEW UP IN THE AIR AND SERIOUSLY INJURED HIM WHEN HE WAS FLUNG IN THE AIR AFTER A BODY-SLAM! He should have considered this possibility!!!

suggestion : get a bigger torch or a plasma cutter it will help cut stuff faster. only a suggestion not trying to tell you what to do. also are you wearing cutting glasses or goggles? and last suggestion have someone there when climbing it helps having someone that doesn't have the wind knocked out of him to call 911.

I have a #3 tip in that small torch but keep the oxy and acetylene low so it doesnt use as much.... it takes a little more time to heat up metal but the bottles last longer from my experience. I'm very cheap as well that's why I haven't bought a 4 or 5 foot demo torch lol there like $500 and I would only use it 2 or 3 times a year. Just like buying a winch for my deck over trailer im too cheap so i keep using come-a-long lol. I'm glad you're enjoying the show thank you for watching and commenting

Yes steel is free as long as I remove..... the company rents a dumpster and I'm responsible to clean up any trash after the job is done. Gopro is good except for extreme heat over 100°
