Looks like the perfect caravanning day for me, that paella looks fabulous, I love just tinkering if there are no actual repairs to do, just perfect. Dulverton looks like our sort of site, thanks.
Thanks Andrew - You will see that the lens was filthy in this video. One thing the G7X hates is dust. In fact this camera has gone back to be cleaned as some dust got in the inside of the lens. BUT - in Canons defence, this camera literally goes everywhere with me, so its something i was expecting at some point. If possible, go for the G7X Mk2. They've made significant updates and changes to all the little annoying things with this camera, and when you do purchase it - pop a small velcro wind muff on it. it makes a huge difference.
Hi Dan, started enjoying some of your videos, mainly because I am attempting to do one of my own re caravanning abroad. I have loads of footage fro june when we went to france, its getting the time and media together. You may have already said, but what software do you use and do you generally use a separate mic or for simplicity in editing do you use camera sound? it is very consistent I have to say. Lastley your awning table, the corner unit, is it issabella?
Hi Steve, I use Final Cut Pro and use a Rode Pro Mic. or lapel Mic depending on the surroundings. If it is a separate (detached) Mic, I use a Zoom H1 to record the audio and sync it up in post production. All of the footage since May of this year has been recorded on either a Canon 80d or Canon G7x - and since May i havent used a detached mic, although i do carry it with me just in case. I hope that helps, feel free to ask any other questions - happy to help. Dan
F1 and star-gazing....perfect time away in the "tin-tent" :-) this is our aim... Always been a williams fan myself, mclaren are my "second team" above everyone else...i know you understand lol....
Thank you for taking the time to film and upload your adventures and tips. I'm loving watching all of your videos. We have just bought a used van and can't wait to go away. I'm not confident with the cooking side at all though so do you think in future you may do one or two (or more!) on your cooking and recipes?
Hi. Thank you for your kind comments. Well absolutely. Does your confidence in cooking relate to using the caravan equipment ? Cooking inside or outside etc ? Pop me a message on our Website - and I will see what we can do. This would make a great topic - as I'm sure you are not alone. Kind regards Dan
I've started recording my audio on a separate recorder ( an old mobile phone) with a lav mic and syncing it up in windows movie maker 2012 a better audio recording solution is the Zoom H1 handy recorder with a lav mic. Great vid Dan
Morning, Yes - I use the H1 when away from the main camera. but i now find the Rode mic on the DSLR is a superb boom mic, and the audio rejection is excellent so its incredibly directional. Thanks for watching.
I did think about a boom/shootgun mike, but the audio circuit on my Nikon's is not that good, I think the zoom H1 will be on my xmas list. Thanks for the reply
Sorry to stay on the subject of Audio, and apologies if you already use these programs but i use Audacity & Levelaltor 2 to clean up the audio both are free downloads. regards jon
Dan , hope you can help, watched this vid some time ago but we have just bought the paella pan for our cadaver Carrie chef 2, there is no info on cadac website but does this sit directly in the pan on the lugs inside or do you need to use the pan stand and sit it on top on that. Does not seem to be any info anywhere to confirm this. Thanks very much
Hi, yes sorry for delay, the Paella pan works in exactly the same way as the chefs pan, just higher sides and with handles, so you won't need the pot stand under it. Hope that helps. Dan
The Trudgians Thanks Dan, I am still confused as it does not fit between the three aluminium lugs in the oil pan, it just moves around and become unlevel, unlike chef pan which is a perfect fit.
The Trudgians Hi Dan , you are a star as always for taking the time to respond. We purchased the 47" pan. I have seen on one website it suggests using the pan stand but nothing on the Cadac Site. I have emailed them direct. Not sure if I will get a response. My main reason for asking is if it is supposed to just sit on the pot stand it seems pretty pointless for the price as we could use any paella pan of a similar size. Sorry to bother you with first world problems with all that is going on. Cheers and hope all is well with you and the family. Where are you going next ? We are off to the New. Forest agin at the weekend. Had several trips away and got lots of footage just need to get it processed and edited but struggling with my current computer power.
yeah we are off to Camping in the Forest site soon, so quite looking forward to that. I will check ours and get back to you etc - are you on Twitter ? i can tag you in a pic so its easy to see etc. Take care Dan

Hi Dan, yes on twitter and follow you guys, Steven richards @bosavisteve
Binge watching caravan videos , my wife laughs at your pronunciation of Paella 🥘. Typical English she says
