I'm similar, my wife had an affair 18 years ago. She begged and pleaded and being young and dumb I agreed under the rules that I know everything. Found a ut recently she's been misleading what happened and trickle truthed me. About a month ago I found out that she took my 1 year old son (at the time, he's 19 now) to meet him, whilst my son was there she had seggs with him for the first time whilst my son was sat watching TV. I feel lost, I pieced together everything and she's fallen apart, I feel I was denied that information and told her I know why you didn't tell me, as that's a whole new level of betrayal and we wouldn't have had our three more kids. I'm just lost, I can't see her the same way. But I've invested 24 years of my life with her, been with her since I was 18. She has fought through to keep me, and back then afterwards she was diagnosed with Bi-polar and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. So I'm back into therapy now. Seriously, f*** this life.
Your problem is you think you lose those previous years when in reality she tossed those years. Also, it's never just a on time thing. The only decision that you need to make is if you want to toss away your later years. Out her and divorce or make her into a side chick if you don't want to deal with the financial consequences. Let people know what she did and enjoy dating. On top of all of that you need to fix whatever inside you that can't be happy without her and also grow up. Feel joy for whatever you enjoyed with her and disgusted by her actions. You were genuine so those interactions where good for you but not her. But if your priorities is how she felt about you then that's not healthy. That's something you need to work on. Your self worth is based on your image inside your head not how other people feel about you. Focus on your child and family and end it. That's my advice. Because after all these years she still put her self first. Her own guilt was too much for her to handle. You neither got the option to stay and forgive or to live another life. Hit the gym or get healthy and reach out to families and friends that will support or create new relationships.
When "trying to be the bigger person" goes wrong. The worse thing you can ever do is "tolerate" a cheater. People who do that will only enable them to keep doing what they do without any remorse.
S1. Yeah your mom is on team cheaters aren't scum because she has to be. Her well is poisoned when it comes to this type of situation. She obviously doesn't care about how cheating makes their relationship partner feels as she cheated on your Dad.

He feels guilty for hurting her, but she didn't feel guilty for hurting him until she was caught. She says she loves him and always has, but did she love him while she was banging another guy? OP is a doormat and his hopefully ex is a liar. Sometimes I hope the story is fake since the OP is such a simp that lets the cheater walk all over them and then apologizes to them after being stepped on.
Story 1: Look I get it, finding out being cheated sucks but OP was way too dramatic and vindictive for a short term relationship. He should of just spent the energy into therapy or healing rather making getting revenge. A failed relationship should doesn't give you the right to interfere with someone's professional life.
