I think RGB can be too sharp. S-video is the perfect amount of sharpness and clarity while still having a subtle blur that kind of acts like a form of "natural anti aliasing and texture filtering", especially on the PS2.

I love the sharp look personally and remember, the PS2 uses a different resolution (480i or 576i for PAL users, sometimes 480p is available too) so having a bit of blur could be sometimes helpful but, it is ultimately up to the user how they want the picture to look :)

The Retro Scaler is a good product however I'm so used to my OSSC & what it can do :) It is my favourite upscaler until I get the Retrotink 5x or 4K!

@@AffrosCuriositiesOfficial since this video I've upgraded to GBS-C + SCART for my 55" LCD , and I also went out and got a 26" S video CRT for my bedroom (2 separate PS1s)
I'm living the video quality dream now baby, I wish I could justify a RetroTink 5x I just don't have enough systems to spend that much but the motion adaptive deinterlacing is top notch. GBS-C is a close second if you ask me. OSSC is also very good but I personally felt like the GBS-C had more to offer for my setup.
Your videos are still the best comparisons and I stand by what I said. Thanks for the great content

Wow that is defiantly a great upgrade outside of the Tink 5x & I'm glad your setup makes you happy :)
I'm happy with the OSSC even if it is a bit lacking with its way of dealing with interlaced content but, I will use it until I can get a Tink 5x :) Also thank you for the kind words :)

Hello there my friend could you please help me with something very important to me? I recently bought Silent Hill and a PS1 and a CRT tv. What is the best video quality option for PS1 to CRT TV. Please help. Tia

Unfortunately this channel does not do CRT's, only HDMI solutions :)
The best advice I can give is it depends on what you want :)
If you want a sharp, clear picture go with S-Video or RGB SCART cables :)
If you want a nostalgic look or you simply don't mind a less sharp look, go with Composite :)

@@AffrosCuriositiesOfficial did they make CRT TVs that had the scart connection?

    • @AffrosCuriositiesOfficial

Yes, definitely but they will cost more :)
Always worth checking prices of them on eBay :)
