They are so used to this behavior it’s normal for them that they take for granted others and women can see very clearly the way women are treated. I feel sorry for the poor Brother who has to make the schedules for microphone duty, I was a Baptised brother in the late 1980's and was running the sound box and writing the schedule's for these duties, on a circuit overseer visit to my congregation the CO informed the Elders that he wished the younger unbaptised 'Brothers' to do Mic duty, they informed the congregation of this and next thing I knew I was nearly besieged by sisters ( Elders wives too) with young unbaptised brothers insisting that their child was on the duty list, and why wasn't he being used,? now I tried to get a balance here between baptised brothers and boys, but kept getting pushed by said wives, "why is my son not doing the microphones this week"?. no explanation was acceptable, in the end I looked the subject up in the organised book which clearly stated that baptised sisters (with head covering)should be used for these duties when no other baptised brothers are available, ( ref the older orgainised book circa 1980, it has been altered since to read the opposite ! ), I tried to make my point to the Elder overseeing these matters and all I got in reply to my question was " Do you want that privalege Brother? " no attempt to explain why my question was void. I politely declined the privilege on that basis, and after changing congregations twice and having 'Elder' problems my wife and I are now away from this organisation, but unfortunately our son is still in, we dont see much of him, i wonder why?

I suspect that the Governing Body of the Watchtower is afraid; that if women are used to handle the mics, and video tasks of the sorts, the women might speak up and say that they are qualified to do more important things; to teach, give talks, preside in some form in the ministry, etc, especially, since many of the males are leaving this organization. The leaders want to make sure that the women in this organization do not stir up ideas of leadership further down the road, to include them as well.
Good observation brother Wilson. We always took it for granted that for some reason, sisters could not be used for so many different congregation assignments. Perhaps it was an improper carry over from the scriptural direction for appointing elders and ministerial servants who were to be men or from the Apostle Paul's admonition to not permit women to teach the congregation directly. But back to the dear sisters; I agree that there's no scriptural reasons they couldn't be used to handle sound, accounts, carrying microphones, overseeing supplies and cleaning; or any number of assignments! I don't see many teen brothers reaching out to handle assignments. In my opinion, as an ex-elder, Bethelite, ministerial servant for 30 years; it's because the organization is being DUMBED DOWN; TAUGHT SPIRITUAL BABY FOOD AT EVERY MEETING; instead of really teaching their members to build strong faith in God and his word the Bible! My congregation was a big one aver 120 publishers at some point. And I just found out that since it shrunk, they are merging with another congregation. I was shocked because I'd have to be there early to get parking and seat. So, the organization is definitely not growing. I'm so grateful for you, Eric. You are my spiritual father. I very much remember an occasion once in the 80's at a district convention in Aus being held in a large public sporting venue. The venue managers generally provided their own assistants and security people and so for the convention, such was provided by both the venue and JW. During break times at the conventions , announcements are broadcast over loud speaker. Well at one break, a representative of the venue management - a woman- made some announcements relating to some directions about a security aspect. At the end of the 3 day convention when the chairman (a very prominent bethelite no less)sums ups the program, he made some flippant remark about "that announcement" to the effect that the crowd of JWs may have been shocked to have heard a woman giving such directions in that forum. That a woman made some announcement to the JWs was so" shocking" that it may have disturbed the minds of the JWs at the convention ( as Im sure it did) and that it warranted a specific mention by the chairman was to me, a stunning example of how the JW society views women. The incident has stuck with me for the past 35 yrs or so and will never forget it - such was its impact on me. Its a fact actually in JW world that a women cannot be placed in ANY position of authority or supervision above any available male in ANY role. They say this is the headship principle spelled out in the bible where males are always prioritised over females in roles of authority and teaching. A "sister" therefore would NEVER be allowed to make a public announcement to a JW gathering unless there were literally NO brothers present- even male children it now seems.
What an interesting an very telling experience that was. Yes, I can totally understand the reaction and the compulsion the speaker would’ve felt to explain everyone why a woman- horrors!- would be allowed to use public address system at a convention.

This has been happening at my hall long before this announcement, women have never been allowed to do anything, but over the years unbaptised publishers who are men or boys have been given training with microphones then video conferencing and sound and zoom…. What makes me wonder is this. The JW's are shrinking and you would think they would be happy to have women picking up the slack. For example they did have women caring the microphones in the past and in light of shrinking congregations it would only make sense to keep them doing his job. What happens when they shrink to the point that they have not enough men and boys to do those jobs. Well they might have to look to the women or have even more overworked men do those jobs.

At Bethel I knew a few sisters who had advanced degrees in medicine, engineering and law. But they all had immediate supervisors that were "brothers" checking their work even if the brother had no formal training in the field. And if there was no work to do in their field (because really they were just being used for their licenses in their particular field) guess where they went: housekeeping! So basically untrained brothers would do most of the work, then they'd go retrieve the sister from housekeeping to sign off on it using their state license. One scary example was Frank Lewis who had medical training in the 1950s in the military, but held no medical licenses. We had a sister at the Farm that was a real RN and could prescribe medicine. Frank would literally write out the prescriptions, then the sister would have to transcribe the prescription onto a legal prescription pad to make it legit. I think they sent him to school to be an LPN st some point, but nevertheless, he was the boss of all the nurses, physical therapists, radiologists etc. There was one Gynecologist and one surgeon that came in as needed but Frank was the one you saw 90% of the time.
There are many fine Jehovah's Witnesses just as there are many fine people in other religions. But Christ didn't descend from heaven to teach us to be nice to one another. That's just a natural offshoot of what he brought. He came to provide us with salvation from death. That is what religions made by men are robbing from their collective flocks.

I suspect that the Governing Body of the Watchtower is afraid; that if women are used to handle the mics, and video tasks of the sorts, the women might speak up and say that they are qualified to do more important things; to teach, give talks, preside in some form in the ministry, etc, especially, since many of the males are leaving this organization. The leaders want to make sure that the women in this organization do not stir up ideas of leadership further down the road, to include them as well.
Good observation brother Wilson. We always took it for granted that for some reason, sisters could not be used for so many different congregation assignments. Perhaps it was an improper carry over from the scriptural direction for appointing elders and ministerial servants who were to be men or from the Apostle Paul's admonition to not permit women to teach the congregation directly.
But this deception and LYING that the Watchtower HQ keeps carrying on about "the growing organization" is sickening! We all know just from the thousands of reports, videos and comments from ex-JW's with internal points of observation, THAT THE ORGANIZATION IS LOSING MEMBERS BY THE THOUSANDS EVERY YEAR! When I occasionally stop in to visit old nearby congregations, I see that the in-person attendance has shrunk tremendously. Which is why they sold off Kingdom Halls and/or combined 2 congregations into one. This makes it look like their attendance is full! It's just now because they crammed 2 congregations into one in the urban areas! So no wonder 40 to 60 or more publishers just stay home and watch the meeting on Zoom teleconference! IT'S TOO DARN CROWDED!
But back to the dear sisters; I agree that there's no scriptural reasons they couldn't be used to handle sound, accounts, carrying microphones, overseeing supplies and cleaning; or any number of assignments! I don't see many teen brothers reaching out to handle assignments. In my opinion, as an ex-elder, Bethelite, ministerial servant for 30 years; it's because the organization is being DUMBED DOWN; TAUGHT SPIRITUAL BABY FOOD AT EVERY MEETING; instead of really teaching their members to build strong faith in God and his word the Bible! My wife is an active JW, and I see this at every meeting!
If you don't teach the young men and women how to prove the existence of God, how to expose the fallacious reasoning of evolution; how to prove that the Bible is a book of supernatural origin, how to use the SCRIPTURES to defend doctrines, and not MAN-MADE OPINIONS AND INTERPRETATIONS; then you're going to reap what you've sown! My congregation was a big one aver 120 publishers at some point. And I just found out that since it shrunk, they are merging with another congregation. I was shocked because I'd have to be there early to get parking and seat. So, the organization is definitely not growing.

I very much remember an occasion once in the 80's at a district convention in Aus being held in a large public sporting venue. The venue managers generally provided their own assistants and security people and so for the convention, such was provided by both the venue and JW. During break times at the conventions , announcements are broadcast over loud speaker. Well at one break, a representative of the venue management - a woman- made some announcements relating to some directions about a security aspect. At the end of the 3 day convention when the chairman (a very prominent bethelite no less)sums ups the program, he made some flippant remark about
"that announcement" to the effect that the crowd of JWs may have been shocked to have heard a woman giving such directions in that forum. That a woman made some announcement to the JWs was so" shocking" that it may have disturbed the minds of the JWs at the convention ( as Im sure it did) and that it warranted a specific mention by the chairman was to me, a stunning example of how the JW society views women. The incident has stuck with me for the past 35 yrs or so and will never forget it - such was its impact on me.
Its a fact actually in JW world that a women cannot be placed in ANY position of authority or supervision above any available male in ANY role.
They say this is the headship principle spelled out in the bible where males are always prioritised over females in roles of authority and teaching. A "sister" therefore would NEVER be allowed to make a public announcement to a JW gathering unless there were literally NO brothers present- even male children it now seems.
What an interesting an very telling experience that was. Yes, I can totally understand the reaction and the compulsion the speaker would’ve felt to explain everyone why a woman- horrors!- would be allowed to use public address system at a convention.

Yeah, it reads a lot worse if they say, " Please find an unbaptized MALE, or MALE CHILD to do these tasks." As you said, they can't be "brothers" if they aren't baptized, so they are really saying "small male children would be preferrable to using women."

This has been happening at my hall long before this announcement, women have never been allowed to do anything, but over the years unbaptised publishers who are men or boys have been given training with microphones then video conferencing and sound and zoom…. The women and girls have been offered ZERO.. one reason I knew that the JW’s were an organised religion ruled by imperfect men who don’t follow gods word in the bible :(

What makes me wonder is this. The JW's are shrinking and you would think they would be happy to have women picking up the slack. For example they did have women caring the microphones in the past and in light of shrinking congregations it would only make sense to keep them doing his job. What happens when they shrink to the point that they have not enough men and boys to do those jobs. Well they might have to look to the women or have even more overworked men do those jobs.

At Bethel I knew a few sisters who had advanced degrees in medicine, engineering and law. But they all had immediate supervisors that were "brothers" checking their work even if the brother had no formal training in the field. And if there was no work to do in their field (because really they were just being used for their licenses in their particular field) guess where they went: housekeeping! So basically untrained brothers would do most of the work, then they'd go retrieve the sister from housekeeping to sign off on it using their state license. One scary example was Frank Lewis who had medical training in the 1950s in the military, but held no medical licenses. We had a sister at the Farm that was a real RN and could prescribe medicine. Frank would literally write out the prescriptions, then the sister would have to transcribe the prescription onto a legal prescription pad to make it legit. I think they sent him to school to be an LPN st some point, but nevertheless, he was the boss of all the nurses, physical therapists, radiologists etc. There was one Gynecologist and one surgeon that came in as needed but Frank was the one you saw 90% of the time.

All denominations will have sheep within them and Christ knows them. I understand your hangup with Watchtower but your being away from the halls for a good time now seems to be embittering you. These are not important issues and to try to put some creepy link between young men being exposed to abusers is not Christlike. Christ calls us to freedom. Only common sense along with clear scriptural direction are the necessary tools needed to affect the conscience of a follower of Christ, not creepy insinuations and nit picking. Some of your other videos have been outstandingly enlightening and some very encouraging, this was not one of them.

Because many Jehovah's witnesses claim they don't follow men, but in reality they do and this is proof along with the wearing pants permission for sisters and beard wearing permission for the brothers.
You might not feel that way if you had been one of the thousands of children who've been abused over the years by men in the organization who've been protected, and whose deeds have been covered over.
In Australia, it was a requirement that any person in any institution who had children in his/her charge (as a teacher, for instance) should register with the government. But the thousands of elders and ministerial servants were never directed by the organization to do so, and they were sued as a consequence.
In this letter, where is the Scriptural Direction from the godlike governing body instructing elders to take steps to ensure that minors who are being trained by them have adequate supervision?
Is it an insinuation? The fact is that the Governing Body continues to pay millions in court fines rather than surrender their list of known pedophiles to the Government authorities, "God’s minister, an avenger to express wrath against the one practicing what is bad.” (Romans 13:4)

I guess you don´t understand the signal this kind of a letter gives to the congregation members and especially women. This video is anything but "nitpicking". Do you think that it´s a small and unimportant thing to devalue, underestimate and treat woman as seriously retarded due to their gender?
