Its nice to see Giancarlo Esposito not be typecast as an antagonist like in Breaking Bad or The Boys, which if you havent seen The Boys, definately consider doing reactions to that. Considering one of the main characters is now a DLC character Mortal Kombat, which is considered horror-adjacent, I'd definately consider The Boys to also be horror-adjacent
Okay so hear me out because I've got a crazy theory. What if Maxine was actually Pearl's unknown relative that she didn't know about. This explains why Maxine's need to be a movie star, her dances, her kills; they all mirror Pearl's. But the only difference is that Maxine is more determined and free-willed than Pearl. She was able to get away from an abusive religious father (who turns out is also crazy) and succeed in becoming a Star. She surpassed what Pearl didn't, which is why Pearl's ghost ends up in the "Psycho" mansion. The whole movie was a perfect ending to a bloody awesome trilogy because it was not just a love letter to Filmmaking throughout history, but also symbolizes what Women had to endure in these daunting environments to get to their goals. Mia Goth is awesome in all three!!

Ya'll are the first reaction I've seen that 1) knows about the night stalker case previously, 2) acknowledges that Kevin Bacon AND Giancarlo Esposito are in this movie, and 3) acknowledge Maxine's father's makeup/the way he plays things up for the cameras. Maxine's desire for fame and notoriety likely came from him, as we see that he's already a well known televangelist from "X". he wants to be a star as much as Maxine (and Pearl) do.
The third act is where the movie started to lose points for me but other than that I still enjoyed this movie but it just wasn’t on par with Pearl and most definitely X. Mia Goth has put her stamp on the horror genre and her amazing performances will be remembered forever like damn she’s amazing.

I don’t care what they say about this being the weakest in the trilogy, to me it is THE BEST. It’s atmosphere brings me back to my teenage years in the 1980s and that is always good. I saw it in the cinema and I had the time of my life. They really did a remarkable job on the set design. Most movies situated in the 1980s look like how people nowadays think what those days looked like, but Maxxxine is spot on. Like X, it could have been made back in the day. And I should know. I was there ❤

I like how the movie is corny and predictable like an 80s slasher would be. And that the other two movies were also period pieces. I also realized that this was the only movie of the three with actual songs instead of instrumentals, which shows how the other movies were true to their times.

what Maxine does in the alley scene is what all of us who belong to a minority and have no one to define us should do. Maxine is not just a fucking final girl, she is an example of what needs to be done.
So the coroner that was talking to the detectives about Halsey's and the other girls bodies, he's who I thought played the father when I watched X. So him popping up in MaXXXine was wild for me! I've been rewatching Bates Motel, because right after the season 2 finale of House of the Dragon I wanted to remember liking a character played by Olivia Cooke. I now wish there could have been a Pearl and Norma Bates crossover. Remake Thelma & Louise with those 2!😅
Everytime I see a movie where someone is being suffocated with a plastic bag I'm always thinking just take your fingers and poke some holes in it. But it's good horror, and I absolutely loved this movie.
some plastic bags are hard to put your finger through though and plus when your in a situation like that, having one being forced onto your head would make you freak out and you’d probably not be in the right concentrated mind to try to poke holes through plastic that doesn’t rip so easily
I don’t understand why some people felt mixed about this one (and I mean as a generalization). It ended in a way where we see Maxine get what she worked so hard for, whereas Pearl got what she unfortunately had to settle with. It was a nice way to end this trilogy of the message it was trying to send about youth, grandeur, love, and striving to get ahold of that light at the end of the tunnel, so it was a very pleasing ending.
The final act did Maxine dirty imo. She was so bad ass and full of fight earlier in the movie, but right when it matters they made her weak and had to be rescued by the cops. Much like in X she only survived just because the gun backfired. Maxine is a great character but I don’t think she’s a great final girl because of how much they fumbled with her character’s agency. I also wanted more of Halsey and Lily Collins.
