You need a good camera and a good lens for that. I mean sure export settings are a part, but sometimes gear matter, you need a sharp enough lens enough megapixels to have sharp images. His camera has 61 mp and yours probably 24mp. I am not saying you need a good camera, or you need it to take good images, but if your gear is not sharp enough you can tweak the export settings as much as you want.
Siam Exporting the image street from Lightroom to Instagram is the best way to have the photos looking sharp however remember to crop the photo for the 4 x 5 ratio that Instagram crops with you that way you could rearrange your composition before you posted because if you export it straight from Lightroom to Instagram your compensation will definitely be way off

for me i export everything in raw , even for my Instagram , and i see better improvement in the quality , sorry for any bad English
