Thank you so much you’re one of the most respectful bodyboarders thank you for sharing your skills and allowing us enjoying more waves big up and peace up
this is awesome! for us at a medium level especially, small but very important details. can't wait to hit the beach tomorrow! Best to you, keep them coming!
Lmao @ 'proper barrel face' 😂😂😂 thanks for your videos man been bodyboarding for ages but never figured out how to do tricks in that time, I'm determined to get out of my comfort zone and figure it out!
This one and the speed video have to be at the top few on the list for technical based vids on how to ride. We may even combine the two vids because body control is a crucial part of speed/speed control/etc. In any wave type. Love that our well spoken 🏆 is also our simple everyday guy we can all enjoy a coffee/tea with🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I almost never comment on youtube, but i got into bodyboarding about 2 weeks ago and have been going everyday since. Been watching your vids and slowly improving my posture and positioning on the board, here now because i realized im sliding down the wave to the bottom almost instantly, also not pulling up the nose or putting weight on my elbow. Your videos have helped me alot!!
Controlling your bodyboard is advance but really helpful to use. That was first key thing I really needed to learn in my younger days. Getting this technique done with help with your movement and how you approach the wave. It also helps with timing. Thank you so much Iain for sharing this to the next gen! Stay safe!
So glad I found your channel recently. Videos like this are GOLD. Thank you for taking the time to break down everything you know and sharing. Your delivery is so clear. PLUS you can sell Manscaping, with a straight face! Respect 🤣 I guess the clippers I use will be known as the lawnmower from now on 🤣 In all seriousness though, you have earned every second of this life. Respect 🙌✨️🤙
Amazing footage ! 🌊 luv ur videos Dude! Grew up sponging in Central and Northern California. Getting back in the Ocean after about 15 years of not paddling out. Your vids have helped tremendously. 🤙
😂🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽This is the stuff! Remove the hair on the balls first, this makes the hips shift swiftly and maximize momentum and there we go! Thank the Champ! 🥊
Once again you have outdone yourself! I have been riding off and on since '93. It's funny how I have been doing things differently and never knew why I was not progressing. I am far from a pro rider more like a soul surfer! LOL 😆
Great description and video. Did you ever think of showing a dry recreation shot from above, and side too that would give us a better visual of exactly how you are moving on the board? I surfed for years and understand waves but mastering the body board is much harder then I expected. Thanks!
I just started using my couch cushion on the floor for muscle memory practice. It's 2' x 3' x 5" thick so it allows me to bend my knee to make the bottom turn (I never thought of that till this video). It should translate and i'll do it without thinking. I move to the other edge and practice going the other way with other knee.
Fucking incredible video. Keep it up man, I’m a huge fan having just recently discovered your videos. So chill, so respectful, and so incredibly talented. Also thanks for your commitment to teaching! The pole mount was SO helpful to understand even better what you’ve been describing in other videos 🤙
Epic video Iain and really helpful, I will use it at the wave Bristol next time. When are you heading over to the UK to show us how it's done SA style?
Thanks Ian. Yet another awesome vid, love it! Unrelated to this video; I've seen quite a few quad channel (or variants of quad) bodyboards coming to market. What's your take on these, does Sniper have a similar thing going, have you tested one? Sometimes difficult to navigate past good marketing and to understand whether these "new" innovations are in fact useful for riding.
Hey Ebert. I have yet to try quad channels but I do know we might have something coming to sniper in the future 😉 but not too sure if it’s just a marketing approach or if it is the actual thing.
Question: Sometimes when I paddle over the back of waves my board kind of slips out from under me, but if I wax it, it will be too grippy on my stomach to do tricks. Is this a normal problem that happens to you?
Try and keep one hand on the board if you’re paddling over waves like that. Will just help you keep the board closer in to yourself. But light wax will help too as someone has said above.
Awesome video Iain. Thank you ! Do you put wax on your board around belly area ? I find it very slippery if I don t have a bit of a wax on it. But I guess I won’t be able to move my body on my board as you with the wax on ?
Glad you enjoyed it. You can put some wax on the belly but as you rightly said, it does slow your movement around the bird a little bit. I prefer to have no wax to make it a bit easier.
@@iaincampbell_ Thank you so much for your respons. I should maybe try to ride a 42 instead of my 41.5 maybe…Do you think a bigger board will help me to get more stability in that particular zone due to the fact that there is more flotation with a bigger size board ? I’m 186 tall for 70 kg. Thank you 🙏
@@ranxer642 I really think that the 42 will be okay for you. If you feel that the 43 will be better then go bigger. My thinking is that this is very much personal preference...

Hi iain
i would like to have that knekt gopro stand but i am in Portugal and to get it is tricky, you can get me a way to buy it here for Portugal
No idea to be honest. I have ordered mine direct from Australia when I was in South Africa and I had no problems.

Question: Sometimes when I paddle over the back of waves my board kind of slips out from under me, but if I wax it, it will be too grippy on my stomach to do tricks. Is this a normal problem that happens to you?
Try to lightly wax the chest area when u paddle. And the elbows to forehand
Yes I feel like there is a “sweetspot” to how much wax I should apply to the stomach area.
A light coat is perfect for me when wearing a wetsuit.
Try and keep one hand on the board if you’re paddling over waves like that. Will just help you keep the board closer in to yourself. But light wax will help too as someone has said above.
what mount do you use for your recordings? it's a really awesome angle, and second question, does it affect riding the waves?
The mount is from Knekt. And yes it definitely affects your riding.
