Try using "Pine needles" instead of Hay. Most fanciers use it and also use " Tobacco stalks and Stems". They all keep bugs/ mites/fleas etc. If you put them inside the loft in a corner. Then parents will pick and grab at them and take it to their nesting bowl. I am new to this Hobby (3+years) Had rollers in the 8th grade but only for maybe a year. Never knew about the NBRC and Competition. I was lucky to meet a guy that I called finding his number thru the Web when I was in Sanger Ca. picking up my boat from repair. We had a great conversation and once I told him where I was from. He hooked me up with a Master Flyer in my area. To fast forward. Yes my first hawk attack was a white racer and I had rollers up at the same time! I have 3 whites that just hatched!! Also have a bunch on pairs on eggs. I enjoy rollers very much Mike - @ Rocky Ridge K&L

Whites are hawk magnet. I've loss most of my whites but 1. I like white racers myself. I have rollers too.
