  • In this episode of KRPC, Kahn adds more to the riddim section, shows how he re-worked the skank guitar, the bubble organ, adds a percussive organ, and "background" organ.
    Also covered within this episode is an an in-depth look at the drum fills Kahn added, including the timbale used which is featured in the "Cuba" plugin by Native Instruments. Kahn then shows off his 4-part horn section using "Session Horns Pro" also by NI.
    To finish it off, Kahn records some live tambourine, cabasa, vibra slap, and flex-a-tone, then he shows how to EQ and compress each track to fit in the mix.
    Stay tuned for next episode where we introduce Kapena Mokiao's smooth vocals!!

    This is amazing stuff. Sounds fantastic, the level of work, attention to detail, sense of groove, dedication and ability to craft the sound creatively and so precisely is pretty amazing. Thanks for the master class. You genuinely seem to enjoy creating good music and your enthusiasm to shows in explaining your composition, production and arrangement techniques. I never realized how carefully crafted and textured Reggae is, it reminds me of old Santana productions like “Dance Sister Dance”.

    if you use a 7th chord in the progression for example on the piano, do you play the 7th on the guitar or organ, or just the standard major or minor variation?

    • @DMKahn
      @DMKahn  7 лет назад

      Gunshow Riddims Productions bless up and thanks for the question. The minimum you need to have the seventh on is the piano, but you can definitely play it on the guitar and organ. I wouldn't do it on the bubble organ though, usually it gets muddy if you use more than two notes (root and third) on the bubble. Hope this helps! You don't have to if you don't want to on the guitar, but it doesn't hurt!
