I don't know who I will play, they all look perfect. How would you order them in terms of difficulty? Do you find the difficulty rating on their character mats to be pretty accurate?
Hard to say. DW definitely looks very fun to play, but out of the three I've played (Gem, Drift, Bone), I would prefer Boneshaper. It's hard to judge the remaining three, though, because they all look so intriguing!
Looking forward to playing the bone shaper! I really appreciate getting a look at where the death walker is now; she has come a long way from the first play tests and looks much more viable. Have you tried builds focusing on her summons? Or do you know anyone who has and how did that go for them?
I watched your video 6 months ago when I was a wee little L1 deathwalker and here I am again today rewatching to see what card I want for my L6 shadow wielding mega death dealer! she's close to retirement but i really love this character so much.
I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate these videos!! You’ve made getting into Frosthaven with these new classes much easier. Love how you present them and give clear ideas on what they’re strengths and weaknesses are. You’re the best!😁
Great review and specifics on the specific build types! This class really stood out to me as well as the Bone Shaper from the starting six. As I play tested this class, on occasion I did find that you can catch yourself where there are not enough shadows on the map and this class can be difficult to rebound from and be effective for your party if that happens. Really looking forward to reanalyzing my approach with this guide and becoming more effective with this class in more Random Dungeon deck draws- Love the review!!!
Not enough Shadows happened in two instances - Not enough ramp up for the melee build in fast paced scenarios, in which case I wished I played Eclipse's top earlier. Certain scenarios with finicky mechanics where I had to abandon shadows with the range build to move between rooms and often with fewer enemies. It wasn't as common as you'd think though. I usually just try to plan some generic or infuse/spend dark attacks to get stuff rolling at first. With Call to the Abyss and Medium at level 5 though, my melee build spends 90%+ of the scenario inside a shadow and/or with shadows adjacent. It was quite easy.
A great many thank yous for this most excellent overview of and guide to the Deathwalker! Playing this right now and the Deathwalker has a lot of promise but is, to me, a bit unclear as to how to operate properly. This helped me a lot in getting some ideas in order for the future, now all I need is some time to experiment a little. Thanks again!
I selected the death walker as my starter. I frequently get exhausted during my scenarios. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, so I definitely appreciate this video.
great build guide, I just retired blinkblade early and started DW the other day. I missed a few things you pointed out, especially marking monsters everytime you or your summons attacks to create more shadows. I was shadow starved my first time playing and this would have been great to have out early. I had to stop watching before you went over level 2 cause I like the surprise but at least i know i can come back and review later
Woot, great one! After trying all FH starters on GH scenarios in TTS, I lean towards the Deathwalker as my starter. I wanted to go Blinkblade initially, but this one somehow "clicked" more and is really fun to play.
Hi I’ve a doubt about Call of doom. I thought that you could do multiple attacks from a single hex, containing a shadow. But maybe it could be multiple attacks and each one as you were occupying a hex with a shadow… the second is much more stronger
Ranged is safer and easier, so if you're struggling a bit trying to manage a squishy that's generally the best option. The higher damage ceiling is the melee build.
I dont uderstand the flow of melee build. Of course it sounds good with a lot of shadow, but I cant imagine how it works in the first room. What is the typical turn 2 and 3? I only see atacks 3. It dosnt make sense for a 6hp melee character. Big risk for low damage. Anyone can explain me the first rounds?
First, great guide, thank you for the detailed Video :) I agree on the choices for the two builds, but for me, I like the hybrid build even more (just to use the strongest cards of both versions) my card choices look like this: The 3 cards remaining: Call to the Abyss Forceful Spirits Into the Night The picks: Restless Spirits Deepening despair (greedy to not take Dead bolt, because of shadow management) Fleeting Dusk Medium The Night Takes Shape Proliferation of the Abyss Lashing Tendrils Black Lance What do you think?
So most of the time I did a kind of hybrid build anyway to optimize attacks and try to get as many of the high hitting attacks as possible. The hybrid builds often did do well if only due to less dead turns. I think that could work, absolutely! I'd still take Pulled Across if you're getting close to melee though.
Anger of the Dead - I'm not that sure that you get an experience for every shadow vacuumed up. Because both attack and range are prefixed by a '+', while pierce and experince are not. It's confusing because it also states "for every shadow removed".
This class looks so fun! Clarification on Proliferation of the Abyss: did you say the 4 hexes is total across both shadows moved? So you can't move both 4 hexes, you would have to split it 2/2 or something?
@@RageBadgerGaming Do you? I thought the wording meant that you consider your mini to be in the shadow hex for all intent and purpose, but that would indeed beg the question "what if an enemy is already in the shadow?". Good to know thanks.
@@enomiellanidrac9137 I mean it's a weird situation for sure. It doesn't occupy the hex but basically like if you performed a Heal 2 range 1, who could you target? There are 7 possible hexes someone could occupy.
Interested in the Deathwalker? Which starter do you want to play as?

@@joshuamarcus5810 I haven't done a summon heavy build but I wager it would be better as part of another as a hybrid build

Yeah, Blinkblade initially made me hyped but I like it less now and Deathwalker much much more.
Oh god, playing that mission where you had to survive 9 rounds was so hard! Really rewarding though.
Thank you, very helpful video!

@@RageBadgerGaming yes, probably wise, I'm used being the tank but really want to learn new roles so Ranged is probably wise to start! Thank you!

Are you saying you'd take the short rest consume dark and curse perk third in the melee build?
Somewhere early. Your dark generation is mostly wasted so it's an easy pick. The stand in a shadow is good as well as cleaning up negative modifier.
First, great guide, thank you for the detailed Video :) I agree on the choices for the two builds, but for me, I like the hybrid build even more (just to use the strongest cards of both versions) my card choices look like this:

Lashing Tendrils
Black Lance

Nope! You get 1 xp per shadow, there's usually a comma divider between effects and xp gains!
Continue to enjoy your vids on the classes , any chance will see more classes soon ? Really keen on coral and kelp hint hint :)
Trap is next!
My first scenario of Deathwalker was disastrous. Hopefully this will help! Haha
I really hope it helps!!
In my cards I read Fluid Night bottom does not give experience, can you confirm please?
It does not give exp, this was one of the later changes and I was using pre-final cards (oops).
You’re so pretty!! Thanks for the help

each shadow can move UP to 4 hexes each.
This class is so rad.
A radical class!
Tough to watch a 44 min video, are your range/melee builds documented in written form anywhere? Great vid though

Call of doom: wouldn't that be six attacks max?
Why only 6? All the six adjacent hexes plus the shadow's own hex.
