Now that's a rare spotting! Those were awesome cars in their day, and a big seller.

One of my High School classmates had one of these. Great running car. We had a lot of fun ripping around town in the car. Thanks for video.
    Happy New Year 👍

I owned a Capri 1600 GT in the early 80s in the UK. A really nice car.

I owned at least 7 capris, they're highly collectable now, if that can be saved it should be.

We had these in Australia quite a good car, they were raced and did pretty well. We even got the German built RS 3.2 litre. GMs subsidiary Holden had the locally assembled Vauxhall Victor, it was called the Torana.

Nice, when we were in England 86-91 my Father bought one about a year after being there, 1600 gt 5speed BLUE. Four banger was a little rocket!

In Australia, we got the Mk 1 which was locally assembled from CKD kits via UK. This meant that we got UK spec engines in the 1.6 Kent, 2.0 Pinto and 3.0 Essex. we did not get the Mk 2 or 3.
A popular engine swap here is the 302W, which slots in nicely and weighs about the same as the Essex. Makes for a very potent car.

Nice find. Such a shame there wasn't another junked 70's legend nearby - Opel 1900 coupe (aka Opel Manta A). As for the Capri mk1 - it was a very capable car.

Yeah, a Manta would be a great find, I don't think I've seen one anywhere in at least a decade. It's interesting the Manta was available at the same time as the Vega which of course outsold it by a considerable margin and then imploded. Thanks for watching!

My first car was a 1974 Capri. It had the four-cylinder engine with a four-speed manual transmission. Good car. I sold it in 1987. A few years back, I was able to find one that was almost 100% identical to mine. This one seems to be worth saving. I've seen a lot worse. Does the junkyard sell whole cars or just parts? Great video.

Thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting! No, this yard only sells pieces, not whole vehicles once they are inside the gates, i.e. you couldn't take this whole thing away as one item. They do publish an inventory online so it'll be noticed on a club page or another and some people will come and save some parts to keep others on the road. Feel free to share this with any club or forum you may belong to that may be interested, it's in the Aurora, Colorado U-Pull-And-Pay yard.

Looks like someone left a socket set by the left hood hinge. Anyone else see that? That Capri has the "decor group" which was a deluxe interior and included a bucket style back seat, clock and a map light (seen on the right a pillar)

hi nice video these were real boy racer material in the uk. Now its only middle aged quys reliving their youth that can afford them. This one looks in much better nik than the rot boxes found over here nowdays

The metal looks surprisingly solid on that car. Too bad US specs made them a lesser car than in the UK or Germany.

A combination of no rustproofed bodies and our wet and salty climate finished all cars off after less than 10years in the 70s my uncle had a Granada mki 2.5 74 model scrapped by 84.😊

I inherited one of these from my marriage in the early 80s. The model year was late 70s. We called it the crap-ie, an absolute piece of engineered garbage. The front end was junk, the engine was junk and a 2 piece drive shaft - why? But the body metal was thick - weird. This vehicle is number 1 on my hate list of cars I have owned over the last 50+ years.

It doesn't look that bad in terms of wear and rust, seen worse. Could be restored IMO.
