DIY Jacob's Ladder

Here is what you'll need!
SUPPLIES
½ x2-inch wood board, about 2 feet in length
17 ¾-inch wire nails.
9 feet of ⅜-inch wide cloth or polyester ribbon, any color you want!
Small hammer
Ruler
Straight-edge
Pencil
Hacksaw or power-saw
Scissors
Sandpaper
Vice
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mark 8 3-inch blocks on the wood board.
2. Saw the pieces into individual blocks. It’s ok if they’re not exact.
3. Sand off jagged pieces and all surfaces.
4. Lay blocks end to end with ½-inch spaces in between.
5. Measure 3 lengths of ribbon to the length of the end-to-end blocks.
6. Place wood blocks in a vice with the heads and tails facing out.
7. Use the ruler and pencil to mark three points on each head and each tail.
8. Remove blocks from vice.
9. Take the first block and place the first ribbon end on the left most mark on one of the ends of the first block.
10. Nail the ribbon-end in.
11. Take a separate ribbon end, and place it on the rightmost mark on the same surface of the first block, and nail it in.
12. Flip the first block to its opposite end.
13. Take the last ribbon and nail in one of the ribbon’s ends onto the center mark.
14. Lay the block on its largest surface and cross the ribbons over the top of the block.
15. Place the next block flat atop the first block sandwiching the ribbons in between.
16. Continue this patterns until the final block. Make sure to leave some slack off the edges of the blocks.
17. Place the blocks into the vice.
18. Hammer the rest of the nails into the ribbons as the cross the heads and tails of the blocks.
19. Cut the excess ribbon.
20. Enjoy!

Just fyi, it still works if the ribbon/rope/trim/etc. is all the same color, so if you only have one color you can still totally do this.
