Bob is turning himself into Salvadore Dalí, and in a good way. I found my way into a small Dalí museum in Montmartre a while back and began go rethink everything I had previously thought about Dalí. He found things that delighted him and kept exploring their every angle. Whether it be elephants or a woman's gaze, he would stay at it until he had fully satisfied himself that he understood it. Dylan takes the simple tools used by a folk artist and he keeps hewing away at it over and over until something new happens. Every live performance is a testament to this heartfelt pursuit to extract more meaning from a simple turn of phrase or a well trod melodic line. Where others eventually come to a stand still, Dylan trods along finding more hues and colors to explore. It's the nature of his artistry and the nature of the man.

52 years on the road. Bob Dylan doesn't really have a home. He lives in hotel rooms and tour buses. He once famously referred to himself as a "song and dance man". But truthfully, song and dance men don't impact whole cultures and influence people the way Dylan has. He's still revered as a prophet and a saint. He just doesn't want prople to treat him as such. He's a genius with a strong ego and strong opinions. But he's never been arrogant. He's no snob. He's a wonderful observer of people, events and life itself. And he turns those observations into remarkable lyrics rich with poetry and wisdom that surpasses every other songwriter in the history of the western world. And while he does possess a unique personality to go along with that unique talent he just wants folks to treat him like "Bob", a man like any other. If you approach him as if he's a God he won't respond. But if you approach him like a normal person and a friend you'll find him to be very cordial and happy to stop and talk for a moment. Just don't be surprised if your conversation finds its way into one of his songs. That's where so many of those amazing songs come from. They come from the hopes and dreams of folks like you and me. He's always known what we're thinking. Since 1961 he's employed those insights to create songs that tap into our subconscious. And that's what makes him appear to be a prophet.
I don't care if Bob is 132 years old. I would listen to him sing anything the best he could. What an icon.
❤️
Amen
