What do you think about the four remakes?

What are the chances the first two protagonists both starred in the Star Wars holiday special.

I remember watching the German pilot with Jochen Busse (the E is to be pronounced ;-) ) on RTL, right before "7 Days 7 Heads", a satirical news show hosted by Busse. I was not aware of the original back then (I was only 12) but I read that in the 90s the original was shown on the competitor station Sat.1. I didn't really find that remake very funny. Later Busse starred in "Mork and Mindy" ripoff on the same station and it was also not funny. It is a shame as Jochen Busse is actually very talented.

Interesting to hear from someone who's watched the German pilot. Perhaps you could be so kind to translate the German dialogue shown in this video so it can be correctly added to the subtitles?

@@SeriousClassics My pleasure. I would like to mention that a few Things were adapted for the German audience, not only the Location. The equivalent to the Spanish waiter Manuel is Igor who is from Kazakhstan (Viktor Stein keeps calling it eaither Kazakhstan or Russia, as for many people all former soviet countries are considered Russia, keeps referincing that they throw glasses at the wall, in reference to the song "Moskau" by Dschinghis Khan). Anyway: Here are the dialogues:
10:26 Viktor Stein: Igor! Nyet! No! (Nyet is "No" in Russian)
10:42 Viktor Stein: Wine list. Wine … list! (you had this already)
11:31 Viktor Stein: Hold! Igor! Not you! Leave it! (you had this too.)
The other footage you showed is basically adapted from the first Episode of the original. At 10:35 Viktor asks Igor to take the luggage from the White Audi to the room 7 but Igor doesn't get it. Victor apologizes to the guest, explaining that Igor's ancestors are from Germany but he was born in Kazakhstan, in Russia, and the guest tells him in Russian and tells Victor that a few lines in Russian are not hard. At 11:38 Viktor screams to the guest who kept asking for a Gin Tonic and a Whiskey sour: "Sour! The Gentleman would like a Whiskey sour. Nothing easier than that. I can sour. With pleasure." (smashing the painting at the guest's head)

Payne could have worked with better writing.
But overall the differences between US and UK can be seen in the TV shows
    Sometimes it works, but…

WHAT ever happened to originality??? George Lucas always complained that Battlestar Galactica was a rip off of Star Wars (Valley Of The Dinosaurs is very similair to Land Of The Lost).

Having been a big fan of Faulty Towers when it first came out, I recently watched it again.
It hasn't stood the passage of time. It's very dated. With cringe worthy stock characters, much over acting and silly corny jokes.
It just isn't funny now. In fact most of it was cringe worthy
