Back in 2011 when a property manager tried to deny my service dog, I was told by an ADA attorney that if she continued to refuse me, I should call the FBI and have her arrested. The attorney told me this while on speaker phone with the property manager. When the manager scoffed at the advice, the attorney placed the call for me. Problem solved.

The first service dog I had we were denied several times while on a class trip while I was doing my PhD studies at one point we even had to threaten to get the police involved before they would back off and allow us to bring the dog in.due to ignorance they see a dog and they feel like it’s animal so they don’t want that in their store. Bullshit. The FBI isn't going to arrest anyone over an ADA violation. It is a civil violation, not a criminal violation. At most they'd receive a summons and face a hefty fine. Plus the the affected individual can file an ADA lawsuit.
An FYI, the ADA does not cover "emotional support animals". This I know because my neighbor and good friend owns a restaurant, and has been sued 4 times for refusing emotional support animals, and won each case.

Well, first off, only a complete idiot doesn't know the law about service animals, and the bartender was the first line of defense. Certainly, the owner should have known, being in that business and all. So, I really see no excuse here. Better yet, he can have the owner arrested. Like he said, it's a federal offense.

When they get out, the government and society tosses them away and treats them like a piece of trash! And that is sad! Retired Canadian pilot here, we dealt with this issue everyday. In Canada the rules for service animals is very clear and strict. A service dog will have the appropriate training and documentation provided by an approved agency. Emotional support animals for PTSD are documented and only approved for certain groups of people, usually ex military or first responders. Every day usually several times a day passengers would show up with an emotional support animal and a document/card which they paid $25 for off the internet. The vast majority of these emotional support animals were cats and small dogs that the people didn’t want to put in a cage and have to pay for separately

In the U.S., we’re allowed to train our own service dogs and there is no requirement for certification. In fact, the last time I spoke with an ADA lawyer, it was against the law to require certification. The law was written to allow those of us with disabilities to have access to service dogs without having to shell out thousands of dollars for them. Unfortunately, this means you get dogs trained only to the ability of the person training them. And you get dogs of every temperament.

The only way these people will learn that the laws apply to everyone is to boycott and sue. I have been told by 2 different stores that I can not have my federally protected dog with me when I go in. Solution I don't go and tell everyone I know about it. There was a time when I wouldn't stand up for myself but I am old and seeing what these entitled brats get away with, no more. I refuse to keep my mouth shut.

Food prep laws and people laws do conflict at times, but we should try to work together and respect each other. Service on the patio could work with out some one needing to check the other. I'm a combat vet and our service animals do keep us in the now state of mind. Staying out of a bar also works. Fur and food not a good mix and may cause eating customers to go elsewhere.

Yeah, and it was 40 degrees cloudy overcast rainy windy day that particular day nobody is going to sit out in that.
Believe me, I know I passed him while he was walking, and I was on my way to visit my sister, who literally lives in the same town that this bar is in.
They are also supposed to know the rules and regulations of the business they are running as well, but they chose to be ignorant of the laws which they could have simply looked up quickly and realized they were in the wrong instead of being ignorant rude and snippey with him.
There was the wrong crowd in that bar that day because most of the locals in the area, especially the older veterans, would have been sticking up for him and giving little miss stick up her ass an education about the rules regarding service animals.
My blood boiled the following day when I saw this video and how he was treated he was hiking the ice age trail with his service dog, and I felt bad as my father also hiked many long distance trails.
So I decided to go to Walmart, and I purchased a few different dehydrated camping meals and a couple of snacks, and then I drove out to a trailhead that was up ahead of him that he'd be reaching the following day and left it for him as a food drop.
I messaged him about it, telling him where I had left it, and a day or two later, he replied back, thanking me for what I had done.
I wanted to let him know that the locals in our area don't treat people like that and that this bar did not represent how the community on the Wisconsin and MINNESOTA border act.

Two, the lady behind the counter is an employee doing her job. If she has been instructed not to allow pets, wether a service one or a companion, as policy of the bar - restaurant, she must comply with such policy. Would you insist in been served, along with your service dog, knowing that she is going to be fired? Thanks.

Foremost, go to your state human relations commision or civil rights commision at the state level. File a complaint. You do not need an attorney. If you are successful you may be compensated with a cash payment. Also management will be apprised of both Federal and State law violations in writing. If, there us no settlement at that level, you will be given direction to file with the Federal Civil Rights Commision. This is the last administrative step, prior to civil court action. The law requires you to exhaust the two administration actions, before a law suit.
