    Everyone on Red Team I approached died for no apparent reason
    We easily capped first point without any resistance

    funny thing about a-posing. as spy, you can a-pose while disguised
    simply a-pose as spy, press B or your "last disguise" key to disguise as your last disguise, then press B again to switch disguise weapons, which makes your disguise appear a-posed.
    this works because switching disguise weapons uses the weapon slot you're currently using, and since you're a-posing, your current weapon slot kinda isnt there. switching to another weapon breaks the a-pose and the disguise's a-pose

    there is one usless heavy tech. you need to have 1 ammo in your minigun hold down m2 and tap m1. dont release m2 you fire infinetly but do 0 damage.

    Here're a few fun ones.
    - The command, "pda_click". Use it with the PDAs or Disguise Kit (doesn't show on your end, will show up on everyone else's). Does what it says on the tin.
    - iirc, you can spam footsteps (notably, jingle items and the Sprinting Cephalopod) by rapidly switching weapons while walking. Would need to double check that it plays for the rest of the server. If so, it combines nicely with Bonk/Crit-a-Cola.
    - Does holding M1 on throwables count as "tech?" Does it fall under the A-pose glitch? Regardless, I think it's funny to throw cleavers while still holding onto it indefinitely. It also seems to break the throwing animation when you hold it down long enough to throw a 2nd one.
    - When you turn, your feet will remain where they are up to a certain degree. In other words, if you look slightly left and right, your feet will remain exactly (facing the same direction) where they are while your upper body turns. If you jump, your feet will then instead face towards where you're currently looking. This, regrettably, is not *completely* useless to know. Why? Well...
    - It's possible to do the Equalizer taunt kill through (certain) spawn doors WITHOUT using a voiceline. It's stupidly precise, but knowing the above tech helps, as the position of his hand does slightly change based on which direction his feet are pointing. It literally works on the same principle of getting Soldier's hand through the door, it is just much harder. Cool people do it this way, though. B1
    - The BASE Jumper glitch is pretty funny, the one where you pick up a Grenade Launcher (or Shotgun if you're nuts) while parachuting, but that one's decently well known, right?
    There're probably a few other techs/bugs I know of that are useless or nearly useless, but those are the ones that immediately came to mind.
    Also, the M2 reload thing isn't totally useless! It's close enough to useless that I will probably never remember to use it, but the Force-a-Nature (and probably Soda Popper but that gun is boring) will basically always take 2 shots from your reserve when you reload, even if you only fire once, which completely wastes a shot. Stopping autoreload with M2 lets you keep and use your 2nd shot even if you don't fire for a while. How novel!

      p.s. If you include any of this in a follow-up post or whatever, can you also include vertical airpogos? You know, the ones that have you stickyjump straight up. At a basic level, they aren't that hard if you know the noob strat, but good god are they literally only useful in jump maps, even more so than that water tech.
      I'm definitely not coming back to this comment because I did a few stickyjump maps and remembered how I can't think of a single actual in-game use case for this

    "Breaking reload animations" works in HL2 as well, you may aim a gun at a friendly NPC, Gordon will lower the gun. Hold right click and the animation will be frozen. Also you can find the old crowbar idle pose when swinging and holding right click before the animation ends, freezing at the end pose

      I believe it's caused due to being able to aim down the sights of certain guns. When the game sees you right click, it tries to call upon the script for the aim down sight animation, but there's nothing there since the gun cannot ADS, so it restarts the default bobbing animation loop. Also why I think it freezes reloads

      @@whoislpj Half-Life 2 doesn't have ADS, but it does have alt-fires for a lot of weapons, and even those that don't, still have the code built-in for if they did (which is why it's so easy for a lot of mods to give the crowbar a charged swing on right click). And all alt-fires have animations tied to them, so if you try to alt-fire a gun that doesn't have an alt-fire animation, I guess it just.. gets stuck on the last frame of whatever animation it was previously playing.

      This can also cause strange behaviour when holding right-click with weapons underwater--usually produces a periodic or constant dryfire sound and/or cutting off weapon audio.

    Pretty sure the broken reload animations are because the game thinks you're using an alt fire, and can't reload while doing said alt fire. I haven't went to culinary school in italy to understand TF2's source code, but it's probably that

    4:00 due to source spaghetti sentrys will aim around the center of your chest. This seems fine, untill you t-pose which changes your hitbox, but not where sentry’s aim. So if you were to crouch and face the sentry, it will fire between your legs

      tf2 is a buggy game.
      I'm going to try to condense this info I barely understand.
      Sentry guns aim at center mass, t-pose changes the hitbox to standing completely upright to match the model. Crouching while t-posed will change the center of mass to below the pelvis hitbox and between the legs. This results in some classes being able to approach a sentry while both crouching, t-posed, and facing the sentry.
      I have done this in a vacuum environment and unless something changed sentries still fire between the legs.

    You don't need to do three tick perfect inputs to to do the water tech, if you just do a crouch jump and release jump before shooting it will work.

    6:50 I remember once my friend showed me this with melee weapons.
    When you are switching to your melee, hold right click while your character is pulling it out, and the idle animation won’t play until right click is released. As far as I know this works for most melees but won’t work for ones with right click functions, for example the Amputator and heavy’s fists.

    did you know that as the spy, you can make yourself look like the enemy team by pressing 4 and then pressing any number 1-9? However, it's pretty useless since cosmetics break and its really easy to notice you.

    Some of my favourite NEARLY useless techs in TF2 include the Airblast Spam and Infinite Blanks Minigun. This video totally deserves a sequel because there's so much niche crap you can pull off in TF2.

    That rocket tech might be good on Venice. I’m pretty sure the water there at the 3rd point is pretty shallow, as well as maybe a bit of the first point.

    The reason the broken reload happens is because the game is given a "fire" command, even if it isn't primary fire, and it obviously won't auto-reload when you're firing your weapon. I would imagine this same thing happens with it resetting the bobbing, but I'm not entirely sure why it freezes the soldier reload. My best guess is it's something to do with how TF2 handles animations and times, and it says to play the first part of the reload animation, but not the next part where he actually reloads, so it just sorta gets stuck at the end of the initial reload.
    (I unpaused the video, and I guess I'm cursed now.)

    Hold up. If the scorch shot glitch persists after death, can you shoot a different flare type, die and swap to the scorch shot, taunt, and shoot the other weapon's flare?
    Or maybe if it doesn't work through death or resupplies, can you pick up a dropped scorch shot and do the glitch?

    The first tech is actually pretty useful in the 2fort moat, lets you market garden people on the inside and setup balcony gardens :D, the area to do it is tiny though, around the sewer entrances on each side

    Glidestepping isnt a useless tech, it actually comes quite in handy for being that much more nimble in combat and being able to get to places faster. The inputs become second nature overtime

      Agreed, the amount of times I've gotten killed by being too slow to climb over props with a regular crouch jump vs the times I've been able to dodge attacks thanks to glidestepping are not insignificant

      nah it's basically useless, i try to use it when i can but the time save is almost non-existent and if you fuck it up you can get stuck on places

      @@legobatman2248 Playing around ledges you know that you can glidestep on and off of makes it so much easier to react to things with faster response time. It can make a difference when you gain walking movement half a second faster compared to a predictable crouch jump

      @@PoutyBun tbh i came around to thinking it's not that bad but in general i still think that it really doesn't matter, it adds possibility to fuck up your movement and at max works as a crutch for bad positioning. but like the time you have to use to learn some glidesteps (some of them look glidesteppable but are not) could just be spent like learning wallbugs and in general you'll probably have something a bit more useful up your sleeve.
      also depending on the ledge you could probably bunny hop it and while you wouldn't have the advantage of fucking up splash damage close to a ledge, you would be probably faster if you hit it, and training bhops is a skill that's way more transferable to game use than glidesteps

      also i can't think of any good position to stay in as a class that doesn't have good movement options that you can glidestep to make yourself safer.
      now if you are the best player in the game and can hit double jump glidesteps (i think they are possible but really hard) then that would be much more flexible and could make your movement way cleaner (but fuck that's kinda hard, in trying to use it randomly i still haven't hit it one time, maybe skill issue but in theory i think it would be hard)

    You can also move really slow (piss walk) by binding "key" to "+strafe", then when you press "key" and move your mouse, you will walk slowly in that direction. (this is perfect for getting stuck in sliding doors)

      This was mentioned in the small caption in the video. You can also walk slowly if you have +movedown (or +moveup); this also makes moving taunts move like a snail.

    i know i know this just thanks to "shounic" but for a example sniper when sending packets to a server has rounded up angle numbers, so he can aiming around a corner but the dot is still placed on the corder... mabe too usefull.... okey if you sap a sentry on a same tick its upgrading you get perma sapped sentry (that cannot be unsaped) but it can still fire (so its just taking dmg).. mabe ill come up with something more, anyway thanks for showing me rainworld its a banger :D

    If you have the dead ringer out and disguise with the YER you can have your dead ringer out while it is out of cloak. It does not work though, so it is useless (unless that is involved in some other bug)

    On the topic of the Right Click Reload stuff, if you bind your mouse wheel inputs to +attack1 with Auto-reload, rolling your wheel a little bit will input a fire for one separate tick.
    If your ammo is full, it'll fire - but if your ammo isn't full, it resets the reload animation and doesn't fire your weapon. You can do this over and over until you allow the reload animation to reach a certain point.
    Flicking your mouse wheel further in one stroke will fire the weapon as it'll register at least two server ticks in a row.
    Doing it on something like the Soda Popper is funny because you can just repetitively adjust your mouse wheel and the bullets that slot out just sloppily recoil back in as the animation reverts to its starting point.
    Something I have yet to confirm is if the reload sounds you make constantly can be heard by other players.

    If you pick up a dropped weapon while it is despawning, the game will attempt to fill your weapon slot with an empty space, disabling that weapon.

    Badwater stuck launch is actually helpful for uber building if you're spawn stuck and have no self-injuring classes to build off, or if you're just stupid enough to want to go for that

    The reload Glitch could actually bé useful on the shortstop, as the autoreload messes up your shots. Is it possible to do it without the shove animation playing?

    Glidestepping works at alot more heights than you might think, it works anywhere between 19-50 hu and the inputs get more precise at lower heights. Its also not as difficult or precise either.

    The right click reload thing used to have some uses. Long ago, the engineer could "store" the gunslinger melee crit by holding right click until he needed to let go of that third punch. You could even build up the combo on teammates for crit farming. Also, if we go even further back, the heavy used to be able to fire blanks by firing his minigun, holding right click, and letting go of left click. Surprise, now the firing animation, sound effects, and shells all continue without any actual bullets being fired or spent.

    "Water tech" is known as doing a "Water Rocket Jump," and is a tech used in jump maps (Like Htwo said.) Jump academy 2 has multiple jumps using Water that can be practiced, including:
    Easy Jurf Last
    Medium Sync 6
    Hard Walls 6
    Easy Strafe 6
    Also, a Water RJ is a bit tricky to pull off, but if you can crouch, jump, and shoot at the same time, usually you will hit the timing easily with this tech :3
    Another thing, holding Right Click to pause a reload animation also works in other source games. Countestrike 2 (And csgo) has a quirk with shotguns where holding right click makes your model look very funny while holding a shotgun mid load

      The water tech he showcased is very different in execution, and where it can be used. The water rocket jump you're talking about only works in shallow water (water you can't swim in) and the tech he's talking about only works in water that is slightly deeper than that.
      Also if you want to do the water rj, make sure you do a crouch jump, trying to press everything at the same time makes it harder, so just press crouch earlier to ensure you get a good jump.

    I think the reason on why pressing mouse2 breaks the reload animation is that instead of deleting the entirety of the alt fire function on weapons, the devs just deleted the code inside of it. This results in the auto reload thinking you’re using the alt fire, when you’re really not (it’s triggering the alt fire and nothing is happening).

    6:14 this is something that can actually happen in Half-Life 2. I don't think it works for reloading, but if you look at an ally and your weapons moves to a lower position, then if you hold right click and look away, you will continue to hold it at a low position.

    Very important useless tech notice: you can a-pose as every class using the simple trick of picking up a weapon while standing inside a friendly dispenser.

    Don’t forget the tech where very specific depths of water allow you to jump while scoped as sniper. The only example I can think of this is on the first point of pl_swiftwater, under the bridge with the first control point on it opposite of the small health and ammo pack. You can go for the famed jump shot into tunnel.

    i actually found out about flare jumping from playing on the practice servers for the Torchlight Tango event by Fortress Faceoffs, some madlads grinded out a sick-ass flare jump that served no purpose but was really fucking cool and i still remember that to this day (the event wasn't that long ago lol)

    dude... the very first tech I use it to rocket jump out of 2fort sewers and was like "oh this is really high" (I'm not really sure if I'm landing the frame-perfect tech or maybe the water is just regularly making my jumps higher) and I do stand on the ground since I do the tech near the entrance of the sewers where the ground elevates.

    The Water Tech rocket jump can be an ok-ish thing in Swiftwater 1st point. Granted not all parts of the canal work. I tested it and its inconsistent,but maybe Im just bad. Also If you have some velocity and a vertical wall next to a pool of water(any depth) the water tech works,but your player character cant be submurged in the water. So the water tech also works on Powerhouse middel. Fun to fly with the Beggars Bazzoka,Market Garden,then jump to the window where snipers usually camp.

    Another broken animation is if you press f to inspect and then right as it's about to reach the point where you hold the weapon in a small looping animation you then again press and hold f it will feeeze the animation entirely for about a second

    8:01 It's in Half-Life 2 as well. Bwfore you get the airboat, there's a piece of metal where you can easily get stuck on and it often makes the person die immediately when they are released.

      Also occurs in Left 4 Dead 2. Before the elevator part in the finale of Dead Center, there's some boxes and a broom or something. You jump in there, slowly descend, and eventually you'll die from the velocity impact from building it up. Apparently there were enough people also figuring this out that there was a patch in that one spot to add extra collision to prevent doing this.

    For the frozen reload, it’s not completely useless. When I play Mann vs Machine as soldier, I can pause either of the banners until a good time in case I blow it too early. 👍

    Water tech is useful on Well, as you can jump off the exit pipe at the end of the canal all the way across middle. If you've ever played that map you'll see several people do it per game. Also works on soldier. Almost every map with enough water has a spot you can do it, and it's not as precise as you claim it is in the video lol.

    I won’t ruin the magic of ghost tech, primarily because I also have no clue how it works, but I do know that it comes from a similar issue in HL2, one that can be mixed with cutscenes and other complex mechanics for some very goofy results.

    My favorite bit of niche tech is actually rather useful in the right circumstances. If you land beside somebody with the thermal thruster, it gives a little knockback. If you airblast somebody upward at the same time, it will combine, and can often send people to the skybox. Airblasting downward can work as well but requires different timing and can be a bit finicky. On any map with a cliff, it becomes incredibly viable.

    You can also do the piss-your-pants walk by holding Alt and moving your mouse up slowly, no keybinds needed! Alt locks your camera position and moves your character around instead. I assume it's either something to do with accomodating alternate control schemes/devices, or maybe some sort of holdover from the ancient Quake mechanics of yesteryear, I dunno.

      A water jump is when you do a normal rocket jump out of water and dolphin jumping makes way too little sense. Jumpers like to make VERY literal names for the techs they use, getting stuck in an angled wall is called an angled wallbug… if your rocket hits the floor on the same tick as you, you will get propelled by it without losing any speed to friction, this is called a speedshot… you could probably call this a shallow bobbing jump or something but although that’s more descriptive, it’s just too much to say compared to water tech

    Glidestepping is nowhere near useless. It is a legitimate advantage if you are being chased by someone or need to squeeze out a little more speed for whatever movement you are doing. It is also pretty consistent once you get used to the timing.
    It's probably just as "useless" as rapidly air strafing back and fourth to get a little extra distance on a tight jump.

    The reload breakage can be used in some niche cases. I use it all the time with the Force-a-Nature and Soda Popper (exception of when holding Hype) so I don't chew through my ammo faster than intended by wasting every other shot.
    What makes me curious is if the reload animation breaks in 3rd person too. If it does, that could be great for soldiers to throw off pyros trying to time a reflect

    There is a fast way to set up a reference pose by yourself. If you kill bind in the spawn room to drop a weapon, you can switch to another class and switch back to avoid the respawn time.

    I think I *MIGHT* have an explanation on the broken reload thing. Sense the Spy can cloak it's probably because the game is trying to dictate if you're a Spy or not in cloak, but sense only the Spy can the game gets confused causing the broken animation to happen and you to not reload as the Spy can't reload while cloaked. While you only need to press M2 remember, the way the game takes commands is that if typed into the console it'll rapidly press it. If bounded to a button you can just turn it on or off, so that's a possible reason.

    The right clicking thing is a quirk that originates from Half Life 2, where the same thing happens with the weapons in that game. Weapons act extremely weirdly and incorrectly when holding RMB. It’s some spaghetti code in the source engine itself.

      i literally watched another video that talked about the bug. Also, weapons do relate to the engine itself. the game has to interact with the weapons in order for them to work. also the glitch explained isn't exactly what happens in HL2, so something changed because in hl2 weapons only break after firing, weapons don't rest properly or in the case of the AR2 and SMG, the firerate gets wonky (most likely due to the alternate fire stopping the primary fire still)
      And yes, i know that code is often reused. I literally code myself, jeez.

    Oh man I've been using this one for at least a year and a half, I'm surprised it took so long for a youtuber to bring it to attention.
    I've got a lil' theory about this bug. *coughs as if to clear throat ahem ahem asterisk:
    TF2 weapons (and all source weapons by extension) have 2 modes of fire, some have 3 but that doesn't matter since we're not using the mouse wheel. The second attack (refered to as attack2 in the code) activates the weapon's secondary function, like Uber on the medigun, detonating stickies, charging with shields, revving up and using your right hand with heavy, throwing stuff with baseball bats, etc, etc.
    What I THINK the game is trying to do is activate the weapons' attack2 mid-reload, so the game thinks "Oh, the player is using attack2, better use attack2", but since attack2 doesn't exist in most weapons (and even when it does it's not meant to work in a reload state) the game just kinda freezes the weapon's state.
    This doesn't just work with primaries, as far as I know, if your weapon doesn't use right click for anything, just taking a swing and holding right click before the animation finishes will 100% trigger it, I remember using this in MVM mann up and trying to convince newer players that it was some big brain strat called "Damage storage" or something, like if you hit a crit and then held right click your next hit would also be a crit. Placebo and pure luck has officially convinced 5 people so far that "damage storage" is real.
    BUT HEY, THAT'S JUST A THEORY
    A SOURCE SPAGHETTI THEORY.
