I gotta say you and Steve Stine have helped me me immensely. I fell off the wagon after high school due to personal issues, but because of you; and Steve Stine helping learn to play either certain songs or chords I have begun to feel more comfortable playing again. Thank you dude!
So glad to hear that you're doing well! Steve is awesome - such a great guitarist and I've heard he is a super nice guy as well :) And I'm really glad the at the videos have helped. Stay well dude and have an amazing day!

You're most welcome Pedro! Took some months to get to because the list is so long but thanks so much for the excellent suggestion! Enjoy and have an amazing day dude 😊
I also didn't necessarily think this was a great song until I actually really listened to just George's guitar licks and solo. Then I really respected the song for it is...A really well designed song but surrounded by some really good songs i.e. Unchain the Night, In my Dreams, Will the Sun Rise etc Dokken had some great albums but this was the first one to really expose them to the mainstream. Don's singing went up a notch on this album along with George's great licks getting better also. Thanks for sharing Jay
Totally agree with you! I didn't get into it until I did this video! lol! I liked the song but only in passing. The solo is incredible to play and the flow and lick choice is beautiful. Glad you enjoyed. Have an awesome day :)
My Friend You Slammed It !!!! Thanks for Teach my the Lynch Chord ! His Chords should be Patent as Intellectual Property!
absolutely beautiful jay i look forward to seeing these u rock my friend
Thanks so much Dave! Great song to do! I did the solo yesterday and man that was a blast! Coming up next week! Yay! Have a great day dude :)
Thank you. Amazing playing but always is from you. Great stuff, you really give a lot out to other guitarists. I would love George to meet you. He would be so honoured in what you do. Cheers Jay, God bless, good man.
Thanks Martin! Glad you enjoyed it dude 😊 Fun to do this one! Its a really cool song! Have an amazing day!
The George Chords are the same as the beginning of highway star.

I love your tutorials Jay thank you
Thanks. Glad you enjoy them 😊 Have an awesome day!
Thanks! I LOVE this song 🤘🤘
Damn Bro - you did a perfect job on a song that's really got a tough rhythm to play - I can't even keep up...but I'm having fun learning...thanks for posting this one so we can keep rockin with Dokken !!
usually none of us can keep up....until we can. Admittedly, George is tough to play. I can play it but not smooth like George. But I'm determined to get there.
Thanks for sharing, these are fun to play and sound killer.
You're most welcome John! :) Thanks so much and have an excellent day dude!!!! :)
Hey Jay great job.. I was really happy to see you put emphasis on the harmony an even mentioning the key of G minor.. So man time we see so much attention to the solo.. but.. the harmony gives life to the solo... Thank you 👍
Thanks man! Really glad you enjoyed it 😊 And glad that the harmony and key info helped too 😊 Yeah the rhythm section is so so important. its 90% of the song and creates that foundation right? Always, enjoy and have an amazing day! 😊 🤘 🙏
@@jayguitar Jay it's important that young guitar players understand what roadmap the artists might be using to create these amazing solos .. songs extra...I've always wanted to get inside George Lynch's brain and see what choices he was thinking about... The harmony sort of opens that window.. I would love to see more analysis of solo to harmony choices.. 🙏
Great lesson Jay ! Love your Channel, your a guitar shaman !
Thank you for you show me how I can play my favorit Dokken song!!!! :-) Thanks again.
You're very welcome 😊 Glad you enjoyed it! Have an amazing day 😊 🤘

Great tone. Well done. Thank you for this.
Great lesson!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it 😊 Have an amazing day!!!
@@jayguitar Thanks you too! I have subscribed and will be back to check out more of your great content! 🤘
For couriousers': Mötley Crüe's Mick Mars also plays that type of chords.
As I know, those are cleaner chord positions than the natural ones, 'cause theorically this chords are played by this way: the lower string voices are placed on thesame pitch as the higher voice strings, so this plays 2 notes with their corresponding octaves at the same time.
AH, thats interesting about Mick Mars using it also! Its a beautiful chord voicing and one that i use when I'm layering up guitar parts - regular chord one channel, this one other channel gives a nice thick sound :) Enjoy and have an amazing day Diego!!! :)
Man you’re such a good teacher 😳 ! Loved your vid’
Thanks so much 😊 Glad you enjoyed it and it was helpful 😊 🤘 Have an amazing day!!!
hey Jay!!!...glad you did this!
Me too dude :) Great song to play! Have a great day man! :)
Jay Parmar you too bro!
@JayGuitar I been checkn out a lot of George’s recent live shows and Your channel popped up, teaching my favorite Dokken song! I definitely subscribed! I am a Bass Player, but write a lot on guitar. I write/play to drop B, with older bands like Dokken, I know they don’t tune real low, but do they mess with different tunings or tune to standard E? As a teenager, I never knew about lower tunings, I found out the hard way, lol! I tried out for a band called TORQUE, which was members from the Thrash band Vio-Lence, I’ve known Phil Demmel for 25+ years, he went on to play with Machine Head now in Kerry King (Slayer) new band. Anyways,Phil told me, You nailed everything, BUT! You were tuned to E!🤣I know you posted this 7 years ago, but I’m gonna check out the rest of your videos, Thank You for what you are doing!✊
Hey dude, thanks so much! I really appreciated it 🙏 humbled by Phil's comments too! Wow! Thats kinda blown my mind this morning! Thank you! I was having this exact same conversation about the tuning over the last few days with a couple of cats! So, story goes that when the album was recorded, the guys tuned to piano pitch, which is why for some Dokken albums our guitars sound out of tune when we try and play along to the songs! Lol! The pitch is somewhere between E and E flat. Some years ago Jeff Pilson explained that in the studio they just used to play a middle A on a piano and tune the guitars and bass to that. Crazy story right? Anyways, welcome on board 😊 Its good to have you here. Enjoy the videos and be sure to check out the latest videos - my skills have grown quite a bit since Lynch Lycks days 😊 🙏 Have an amazing day!
That guitar looks good on you
Much appreciated 😊 I picked it up for recording again last week. Felt great to play that one again 😊 Enjoy and have an amazing day!!!
your tone is so amazing
Thanks so much! I have a video of my full Lynch sound set up if you'd like to check it out :) ruclips.net/video/Bf7datORaqs/видео.html - Enjoy :)
What? It’s a top ten-er maan ! Lol
The hunter !
I know right! 😂 I fell in love with the song after doing these videos though 😉 Have an amazing day!!!
Robbie Blunt used that George chord all over the place in the Robert Plant tune" burning down one side" way back in 82 83 ish
Ah! Thats so interesting Heather! Thanks for letting me know. I'll check that out for sure! Maybe thats where GL saw the chord being played :) Have a great day :)
For sure Robbie is a great little known player all around solid player spread the word cheers
I love.your channel. I hope you have a good Memorial Day weekend! Keep safe! I hope you're doing well!
Thanks so much! So glad you enjoy it 😊 Really appreciate it and have an amazing day!
This was really helpful. I was always trying to play this song in E (never really checked to see what key it's in and never tried to play along with the record) and obviously that doesn't work out quite right.
Really glad it helped. Thats interesting about playing it in E - yep, G minor for this one. Its that one "George" chord that does it :) Have an awesome day dude!

Great job, thank you!
Thanks so much Rich! Much appreciated and so glad you enjoyed it! 😊 🙏 Have an amazing day!
Awesome letter..much respect
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it 😊 🤘 🙏 Have an amazing day!!!
On the record, like most Dokken songs, they technically do tune down but, They tune to standard at about 430-432ish as apposed to the typical 440.
Hey Lucas, thanks so much of the info dude! Yeah I figured that they must be tuning to maybe 432 or something like that - I've heard it on a few records from that era :) 432 resonates really well! There are some great vids on RUclips about that :) Thanks man and have an awesome day!!! :)
Great lesson, thanks!
Thanks so much dude! Much appreciated and a pleasure to do :) Enjoy and have an amazing day!!! :)
Man, that sounds amazing!! Are those stock pickups, or have you upgraded them?
Thanks man! Much much appreciated :) Whole guitar is custom built - pickups are an Arcane Mr Scary in the bridge and an Entwistle XS62N in the neck - this is my desert island guitar. Sounds and feels fantastic :) Have an amazing day dude!
Excelente explicación de la canción 🤘 me sirvió de mucho gracias!
De nada, amigo mío! Me alegro de que haya disfrutado Que tengas un maravilloso día 😃
Beautifully played and explained! And a great tone! Awesome! :-D Keep it up. What about a tutorial on 'Don't lie to me' ?
Thanks so much Matthias! Very much appreciated dude 😊 Absolutely, I can add that song to the list - its a great song man! Have a fantastic week dude!
Jay i have been lusting after this guitar for years..where can i get that pickguard? Want to build something similar
Great playing .
Thanks so much Mike! Much appreciated 😊 🤘 Have an awesome day!
I'm 3 years too late, but thanks man, awesome job. LTDKami4 on the way and thought I should learn something on point while I wait for it...🤩 Fantastic videos. All the best fella. 🍺

yes there are a bunch of versions out there, but yours is better!!!!! nice vid!
Thanks so much my friend! Really do appreciate that 😊 Have an awesome weekend! We gotta finish our video soon😃😃😃
Just found ur channel bro but I've already learned some shit... good lessons. I've just started studying George Lynch and he is becoming a favorite guitarists of mine easily. The book I bought is a George Lynch book so it has stuff of dokken , Lynch mob and George Lynch solo. Although it doesn't have just got lucky... which I love that dokken song.wow it dont have the hunter in it either hmm
Wecome to the channel Jesse. Glad you're enjoying the vids. It was fun doing GL lessons - he's an awesome guitarist. Have an awesome day man!
I'm definitely going to check those wireless units out, I got nothing but noodle wires all over the place in my studio👍
Very cool Joe - its a really great unit. So small and rechargeable which means less wires adapters power cables, etc - just plug in, switch on - BOOM! Done 😊
sounds like what I'm looking for 👍
Your George chord was played by Ritchie Blackmore in Highway star..🎸🎼
Yes you’re totally right! I learnt that years after I hade this video. It’s the Ritchie chord 😊🙏🏽🤟🏽 Have an awesome day!
Thank you also, and this lesson is so inspiring and your cool snake guitar is simply amazing.. keep on rocking..🤟🏽🎸🎼Thank you so much
Great job! Do you remember what your string gauges were making this video or which strings they were? Lately, I've been using Cobalt strings by Ernie Ball.
Thanks dude! Glad you enjoyed it 😊 strings - always 9-46 - that’s my preferred set. I think I was using Daddario NYXLs back then. Either those or regular Daddarios would be my guess 😊 I use Dogal handwound strings now - they are exquisite to play! Hope that helps! Have an amazing day!
Great tone
Thanks dude :) Have an amazing week :)
Thank you bro!
Really glad you enjoyed it Eric 😊 You're most welcome 😊 Have an excellent day man!!!
Nice lesson🤘🏻 how do you get your trem to stay in tune?
Hey dude, The locking tuners that I use keeps everything in tune - the combination of the bridge plus the tuners works great for me 😊 Hope that helps. Have an amazing day!
Amazing lesson and your tone is spot on.. Sorry if this has already been asked earlier but what are you using to get such a "George" tone?
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it! :) Sure - I have a video on that - ruclips.net/video/Bf7datORaqs/видео.html - thats my full setup still. Enjoy and have an amazing day and so glad you enjoyed this one! I loved playing it!!! :)
Hi Jay,,,excellent lesson, excellent playing. You're lessons are way better than the books !! You're a cool cat 😁 Love all that way cool gear you got too !! Btw,,,any chance for a lesson on the song ''Quiver'' from George Lynch's screaming new instrumental album ''Seamless'' ?? It absolutely smokes,,,his best Ever !! 💘 🎸🎧🎼🎵🎶
P.S. You're playback tracks are very, very good !!
Glad you enjoyed it Stephen. I stopped doing Lynch Lycks 4 or 5 years ago now I'm afraid 😊 🙏 Enjoy the other videos! Have an amazing day!
thx... i always wondered how that was played.
You're most welcome 😊 Really glad you found it helpful 😊 Enjoy and have an amazing day!!!
Hey Jay. Todd Markle again. This video for the The Hunter was amazing. But as I always do can you show the rhythm under the solo? I know this might be to late for the video for the solo. But when ever you get the chance I would appreciate it. Thanks again!!!
Hey Todd, great to hear from you my friend! I'm including the rhythm parts under the solos every week with the solo lesson dude - check out the solo lesson, I think I covered the rhythm before showing the solo on this one :) Enjoy buddy and have an amazing day! :)
Hi Jay! Somewhere out on the horizon, could you present "Tierra Del Fuego" from George's "Sacred Groove" CD to us, please? I absolutely love that instrumental with its Cuban, salsa-like, rhythm. George showed a lot of class on this one. It's one of my all-time favorite George Lynch pieces (and I'll bet I'm not alone on this one). Just sometime out in the future, if you have time, would be terrific! Another one for "the list"? Thanks buddy!
Hey Barry! Thanks so much for the awesome suggestion dude! It is on the list....but I decided a few months ago to shelve all instrumentals (except for Mr Scary which I will do sometime this year). My schedule has gotten very full and instrumental lessons take longer to shoot, record, edit, etc - hence the decision. Love love love that song though! So if I do get back to doing them then I shall do this one also - I can teach it one-to-one as well my friend! Enjoy and have a most excellent day!!! :)
I completely understand, my friend! I used to teach guitar as well (not nearly as good as you do however!) and I know an instrumental requires MUCH more time. And I imagine you must be extremely busy these days. (Sometimes I even feel guilty that I occasionally add to all of the comments you probably feel obligated to reply to.) Can't wait for Mr. Scary! I'm sure it will be astounding! Thanks, Jay, for all you share with, and give to, your fellow guitarists! Peace and love!
Thanks so much Barry! I am always happy to read your comments so please do so my friend as it gives me a chance to connect with you which I'm thankful for :) I'm gonna love doing scary! I have two versions up - one live and one improv for an ESP contest - but have never done the original :) Gonna be fun!!!!! Have a great day my friend!
Such amazing work, Jay! There is no better George coverer than you!
I won't get a "like" for this, but I want to say it anyway. On the main riff where you go from the G dyad to the F, I think it would be closer to the way George does it if you slid the G dyad down to the F right before the downbeat rather than hitting it right on the downbeat. Such a tiny detail to nitpick, but it's always been one of the most interesting things about the riff to me when I first heard it as a teen in 1985 (if memory serves).
Thanks man! Very kind of you and much appreciated. I appreciate the tip about the phrase too! Looking back I know I got a few things not 100∞ on some of the songs 😊 🙏 Have an awesome day!
Please make a guitar lesson on joe satrianis goodbye supernova
Really great song dude 😊 I'm afraid I'm no longer doing song lessons on my youtube channel though 🙏 Enjoy the other videos dude! Have an amazing day!
Hi there, what is the name of the song playing in the background while you talk at the beginning of the video? Thank you kind sir.
Hi David 😊 That would be 'When Angels Cry' 😊 Its from my album Circle of Fire and George Lynch plays the intro and main solo on that song 😊 You can check it out on iTunes and band cam etc 😊 Here is the iTunes link - itunes.apple.com/us/artist/jay-parmar/272207153 - Enjoy and have an amazing day!!!
@@jayguitar would it be possible to get the backing track for "when angels cry"? i started playing along with it and it pulled out of me some of the best playing i have ever done . I would love to not have to compete with you and George while playing along.
I don’t play guitar and I’m watching this.
Thanks! Very kind of you 😊 Have a great day!
Awesome video, what’s the intro song it’s insane 🤘🤘
Thanks so much man! Really appreciate it 😊 🙏 Glad you like the track - its called 'When Angels Cry' its on my album 'Circle of Fire' and George Lynch did the intro and main solos on that song 😊 You can check it out and purchase on band camp - jayparmarguitarist.bandcamp.com - Enjoy and have an amazing day!
Where can I find your backing tracks? They're awesome!
Thanks dude 😊 I create everything from scratch for the videos so that I can track the guitars whilst recording the playthroughs 😊 Have an awesome day!
I'm the HUNTER!👍🎸🍵🎸⏰✊👈☝👍✌
Coffee + Guitar.... Its that time again dude 😃
Love it!¡!!
Thanks so much Cindy! Much appreciated :) Glad you enjoyed. Have an amazing weekend :)
I love the song and tone u got, beast guitar !.. what bridge is that ? Model, please...
Thanks so much dude :) Very much appreciate it! Bridge is a Wilkinson VS50MKII - I sometimes upgrade these with a brass block that somebody makes for me as a custom order. Great bridge - in-between Fender and Floyd :) Have an awesome day!!! :)
What pickups do you use here?
Hey Nikita, this guitar has an Arcane Mr Scary in bridge and an Entwistle XS62N in neck - you can find out all about it on this video: ruclips.net/video/gyojP4ZnraI/видео.html - enjoy and have a great day!
Hey man Great Job! (as usual) Is there any way you could teach Mr Scary or if u already have perhaps direct me to it? Im sure there are millions of lessons for it but I am confortable with the way you teach. Thanks
What model is that guitar?? Looks like a typical lynch guitar! Great vid, thanks
Hey dude, I built this one myself - you can check out all of the details on this video - ruclips.net/video/gyojP4ZnraI/видео.html - thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed this one :) Have an awesome day!!! :)
your one cool dude
Thats really kind of you 😊 🙏 thanks so much and have an amazing day!!!
Your guitars are stunning! Gotta love ESP as a brand. Any chance of Just Got Lucky before you wrap up Lynch Lycks :D?
Thanks so much man! So much appreciated!!! Yeah love my ESPs! This one will come to NAMM with me this year :) I'm afraid Lynch Lycks is all wrapped up now :) Have an amazing day!
Awesome video. any tabs for this song
Hey dude, doh! The link had expired - here is the new link for you - drive.google.com/open?id=0B0f40AfLF4_3OWpfTWZ3c1VMaEE - enjoy and have a great day!!! :)
awesome thank you.
wow man this is one of my favorite Dokken song, hell yeahhhhhhh, what did you use to get this tone?Kuassa?thank you.
Thanks so much dude!!! 😃 I used my Friedman BE OD pedal into my BluGuitar AMP1 and the direct out going into my audio interface - then running Recabinet 5 and a couple of Friedman impulse responses - it's become my go to recording set up - absolutely adore the tone! 😃
wow i really like the BluGuitar AMP1 but is a little expensive here in the usa,so you dont use the cabs from the BluGuitar?
It's great - so portable and unbelievable sound! I sold a bunch of stuff to buy mine - glad I did 😊 Only reason I didn't buy the cab was because I already have a couple of 1x12 cabs - a blackstar which started as a 10 inch cab and I modified for 12 inch neodymium celestion speaker and ported - and a line 6 DT 1x12 - which is amazing as it thinks it's a 2x12! Lol! Then I have a Randall 2x12 and Genz Benz 4x12 so figured I had everything I needed 😊 For recording though the direct out if a god send - straight into interface and cranked sound with all the dynamics without the volume. I have an isolation booth at my studio but don't need to use it now as the IR cabs sound so good 😊
yeah in these days IR CABS is the way to go,right now im using the 11 Rack ,Positive Grid appa and the Kuassa(by the way i liked all the presets that you share)i was thinking to get the AX8 but i dont play as much as before, with the 11 rack i can get good sound, but man G.A.S is always there jajaja and the BluGuitar AMP1 want to come home.
Jay tudo bem com você pó ensina a tocar Breaking the chains do Dokken acho essa música muito legal muito obrigado ❤❤
Hi there, the lessons are somewhere on my channel - if you search for Jay Parmar Breaking the Chains you will find them. Enjoy. Have a great day.
awesome lesson!!. ..killer tone any tips on the tone?
Thanks so much Jim! Really glad you enjoyed it dude! Tips for tone - you know, I dialled in the same way I do - Marshall style amp - I used the freedman BE OD pedal for that - Bass around 4, mids about 7 (fills out the sound), treble about 6, just a touch of presence - that always works for me 😊 Hope that helps dude! I'll be doing a video on that GL tone when I get a chance 😊 Have an awesome day!
Jay Parmar sweet I gotta try that pedal bro.thanks again
Love that guitar! So sexy!
Thanks Kevin! MY desert island guitar - love it - just works so well and looks super sexy! 😊 Have an awesome day man! 😃
Native American with an English accent?!?...okaaayy.....
Actually it gets a little more complicated dude 😉 my heritage is actually Indian as in east Indian (from India), I was born and live in the UK hence the accent, and I have an affinity to the American Indian ways and teachings 😉 Anyways, hope you enjoyed the video - have an amazing day! 🤘
