"Hondas clever answer to German Engineering." Was to go to Britain and ask AustinRover to develop a new luxury car as they actually knew what they were doing. After this initial co-development they did another with Rover to develop a new small hatchback/saloon. Ultimately resulting in the R8 Concerto/200 series. In exchange for other work with the Rover they helped resolve the issues and damage British Leyland had done to Rover. While Rovers first cars in this period had quality issues they got resolved pretty quickly and ultimately they ended up producing cars for Honda. Unfortunately this excellent era for both Honda and Rover came to an end in 1995 when BMW paid off BAE to sell their shares in Rover so they could take control. BMW asset stripped it to death. Hondas greatness peaked with the 90s. This was my first car in high school. Same year, manual, but differnt light brown paint. Still best car ive owned. You were laying in this car not sitting in it and driving position so low. Felt solid too like those Mercedes as if they put metal beams instead of sheet metal. They dont make cars like, this anymore. This was ultimate luxury.
My dad used to have a 1995 Acura Legend LS, it drove fantastic, and today i have a 2019 Honda Accord 6-speed, and they feel very similar, 25 years later!
Always loved Hondas older wrinkled leather inserts on the door panels. Something about the wrinkling that just made it feel more classy. Not sure if they still do that these days on their leather interiors.
This 1992 Acura Legend is really truly impressive from an engineering point of view as explained in this video. It is not just a more luxurious and loaded higher priced Honda Accord.
Awesome video! I've grown up with my dad having a '95 Legend LS, and I've always loved it. It's now the car I drive, and I wouldn't trade it for really any other car. It is an automatic, and you definitely feel those shifts sometimes, but it's still so fun to drive.

The coupe version seems quite rare because every other one is a sedan. I wouldn’t mind getting one myself one day. You’re absolutely right about the manual gearbox!
Great video. I remember liking this car as a kid before I even got into cars. Random fact: the Old Buick’s steering wheels also have buttons that control the volume knob.
Great car! Yes, you can still get an Accord with a manual (6-speed). I have a 2018., and so far, they haven't dropped the manual. You have to get the Sport trim, but you can get with the 1.5T or 2.0T (2.0T replaces the old V6). I have the 2.0T and love love LOVE the 6-speed. The 2.0T adds a fair amount of features, too, including a moonroof and power driver's seat.
Bought my’92 Accord LX, two door, 5 speed, white with blue interior, new in 1992. Finally had to get a newer car because of rust that just got out of control! Had 256 K on it. Never let me down. That was a fun car to drive !! N.E.OH Bob
Cars like this just aren’t made anymore. This is when the details and the feel mattered. This is what made Acura so good in the 90’s. I would absolutely love to do a road trip in that car and would enjoy every second behind the wheel.
For those wondering, yes, you can buy a manual Accord. The 2.0T makes 252 hp and you can buy the sedan with it, too. Been wanting a sedan with a stick shift for a while now, but I haven't got around to getting rid of my 2012 Civic due to it being such a solid little gas sipping commuter.
I didn’t know anything about Legends until I was in the market for a cheap daily driver a couple months ago. I found a first gen 87 Legend with the 5 speed for $1000. It’s super fun to drive!
Years of driving and learning to adapt to different engines and throttles. Also driving on camera forces me to really dial it in and not accept bad matches because I’ll look like a dope 😂
I'm able to. I feel like its a sound thing. You just hear it and know. I grew up with my father owning too many stick cars/trucks to count. Same with my brother. So I feel I just grew into understanding it by sound.
@@TedwardDrives Become one with the car. That car is meant to be driven by someone who appreciates and knows how to drive a precision machine. It's a Zen thing. 👍😉
Specifically, the Acura Legend was Japan's answer to BMW. It was a luxury car built with driving pleasure in mind rather than all-out refinement. The commercial for the launch of the 2nd-gen Legend in 1991 actually lambasted the Lexus LS for isolating the driver from the road too much while pitching the refreshed Legend as an enthusiast's alternative to the Lexus LS.
I've owned a 1993 manual SC300 with the 5sp and a 1991 Acura Legend Coupe with the auto. They are similar and yet different. The SC was ultimately quicker, but the Legend just felt so torquey. If I had to pick one based on the whole package, I'd probably give the nod to the Legend. But they are both absolute classics.
I had a friend who has one in a 5 speed back in 98-99 it was a great car. I had an 95 integra gsr in high school man still my favorite car I’ve owned and I’m 43 now.

As a previous 1994 Legend GS owner I really loved this video. The coupe design look ahead of it's time. Look like R34 GTR because of those headlights.
Just seeing a nice manual car being driven spiritedly is enjoyable, makes me want to drive legend someday. I have an audi a6 with a 6spd and it always fun to drive even on my daily commute
My mom had this exact same car! I grew up riding in a Legend that looked exactly like this, and I cannot wait to buy one myself.
My dad used to have a 1995 Acura Legend LS, it drove fantastic, and today i have a 2019 Honda Accord 6-speed, and they feel very similar, 25 years later!
watchig you drive takes so much stress off of me since i cant drive, i really love this channle
Great car and great video! Have always dreamed of owning one of these since I was a little kid. Also anyone else notice the 90s Dodge Caravan woodie pass at 3:50?
Acura isn't luxury. It's premium. And I appreciate it for that. 🙏
I love this. I’ve owned 5 legends in my time. 3 auto and 2 of then were manual. I absolutely love them especially the four-door with the manual
One thing I really like of your vids is the scenery always looks beautiful. I would love driving down those roads, i'm so used to driving in the city :/
Audi, Saab early Cadillacs, had longitudinal engines in front wheel drive cars. Not to mention Subaru. Also Eagle premier.
Early fwd Renaults, too. Oh, the Toronado...
What an etertaining video
Not into cars at all, but something about the way you speak and the demonstration of how the car runs makes this appealing to me. Quality substance
Wow! That interior looks great!
OMG WHAT A CAR 😍 WOW SOOO MUCH CLASS I HAVE 92 ACCORD EX 5 SPEED MANUAL ITS AWESOME TO DRIVE AND ITS A ONE OWNER CAR WHICH I FEEL LUCKY TO OWN. 16 valve engine SOUND AMAZING !!!
I have a 91 coupe without the spoiler. I love these cars. Thank you for sharing
WHAT A LEGEND
LEGEND owner here 1995 l (in good shape /bbs rs rims) i really agree with what you say about the feel but if it was a rear wheel i think the front end is too light but definitely a keeper !
Beautiful coupe! This is Acura in its prime! Great video!!
Great car here! Thanks for doing a great demonstration of it! My brother had the same exact car except his was black. I only got to drive it one time.
The 2.0T adds a fair amount of features, too, including a moonroof and power driver's seat.
doing the lords work
Unfortunately, Honda recently canceled the manual in the Accord.
This is the perfect name for the car. Acura LEGEND
Bought my’92 Accord LX, two door, 5 speed, white with blue interior, new in 1992. Finally had to get a newer car because of rust that just got out of control! Had 256 K on it. Never let me down. That was a fun car to drive !! N.E.OH Bob
Love the product line! Your reviews are great! All the cars I've owned and wanted to you seem to get your hands on...and your on my old roads.
I will own one before I die. Such a neat car.
omg best car ever and i want one now
Cars like this just aren’t made anymore. This is when the details and the feel mattered. This is what made Acura so good in the 90’s. I would absolutely love to do a road trip in that car and would enjoy every second behind the wheel.
I love the BMWish front end design, mated with the rear and rear quarterpanel that has whispers of Prelude. Gorgeous!
Really underrated Channel
Thanks 🙏
For those wondering, yes, you can buy a manual Accord. The 2.0T makes 252 hp and you can buy the sedan with it, too. Been wanting a sedan with a stick shift for a while now, but I haven't got around to getting rid of my 2012 Civic due to it being such a solid little gas sipping commuter.
I didn’t know anything about Legends until I was in the market for a cheap daily driver a couple months ago. I found a first gen 87 Legend with the 5 speed for $1000. It’s super fun to drive!
Last year I bought a 2000 1.8l Accord relatively well kept and not really driven much, I am glad with the luck I had finding this
The design of these cars still look better than the newer ones. Its amazing.
How do you hit all our rev match perfectly?
Years of driving and learning to adapt to different engines and throttles. Also driving on camera forces me to really dial it in and not accept bad matches because I’ll look like a dope 😂

I'm able to. I feel like its a sound thing. You just hear it and know. I grew up with my father owning too many stick cars/trucks to count. Same with my brother. So I feel I just grew into understanding it by sound.
I’d imagine the slightly opened window helps, I always drive with open windows when the weathers nice for that reason.

Become one with the car. That car is meant to be driven by someone who appreciates and knows how to drive a precision machine. It's a Zen thing. 👍😉
Sounds as smooth as butter.
After watching this I’m gonna be taking my 1993 acura legend 6 speed coupe out for a rip!!
One of the most beautiful cars for all time, that's also practical.
I can feel the smoothness just by watching the video😁😁
I wonder how this compares to a sc300 5 speed.. not too many people fighting over them yet
Sc300 better cause rwd but both are good more rear seat space in legend and i think the legend looks better
For a turbo/modding project, the manual SC300 fits the bill. But to keep and enjoy for a long while, the Legend by far. My humble opinion anyway..
I absolutely love these cars, it was my first car with a 6 speed manual, I’ve never seen any rear window roll
Down in any other cars
That Legend makes Cadillac look like Yugo in comparison. This was Honda at its very finest hour.
Aged fine like wine, my grandma used to have a Acura legend manual shift my grandma was a tough ass cookie tobacco chewing person, had a road rage she would flip people off when I was being picked up by her haha.
Lmao!
Nice car and really healthy sound!
And I guess the longitudinal engine layout eliminates any torque steer. No difference in driveshaft lengths :-)
That. Makes. SENSE!
I have little torque steer unless I’m going fully WOT.
every time i see these, they're so clean
