Happy to see so much participation by Renee. Obviously she is much more ready to participate and doing a great job. HUGE job to get the door and frame restored!
That for sure, but to my defence, I spent way more time at the cottage than before. I even will be there again tomorrow. What can I say I love the tranquility over there....
That bloody paint stripper these days is so weak you could almost drink it and it and a curry would do you more harm. The manufacturers have been sued so many times the product is now more or less useless. I have a project to start today that watching you use a sander made me realize, just use the sander! Nice project and great end result. Well done!
You're so right, it's why I've sanded everywhere, where it was possible, because all the coves on this door was a pain, so I've uses paint stripper but this took forever. I usually use a hot air gun, but with cedar this was a too risky, so we used weak paint stripper. I remember that I once I had old "real" paint stripper from my dad, I didn't noticed that I had one drop on my arm, When I started feeling it, you couldn't believe the time it took me to run to the pool to put my arm inside, I would have won an Olympic medal. This paint stripper didn't make me nervous at all
@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker I grew up in the UK. I remember using a brand called "Nitromors" and this stuff would burn a hole in you in no time if you got it on you. Stripped varnish and pain in seconds. Also, I used to come up to Quebec on business often. I worked with a company called Strongco as my dealer for machines used in the ports and railroads, steel mills etc. Made many trips to Montreal (I miss the smoked meat) and Quebec City. I love Quebec City and miss my trips there. Also miss Halifax. Had many great nights in all of the above!
It's been a while since we went to Quebec city. Like I says to people we rather take the plane and go to Europe than the car and go to Gaspé even if it's the same time. We had a Swiss friend in Montreal last week we went to meet him over there. We often have visitors from Europe at home. But one thing is sure, we don't miss going downtown every day, the trafic is awful in Montreal. My father stripper was CIL industrial, he used to restaure antique, mostly from the UK and had quite a lot of chemicals, I almost used them all

WOW! That looks absolutely stunning!
Thank you
Ok, you convinced me. I'm heading to my cottage. That was the point of the video, right?
You figured it out 😂😂😂
I think you are working harder in retirement than before you retired! 😁

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker I was assuming you were in the Province of Quebec. Being French and all.
Yes I'm living 50Km west of downtown Montreal.
The sanding of old paint or paint must have been annoying. At least I don't like doing it very much.
