It helps that Destiny has actually thought about this before and has a solid argument here. But X optically losing the debate when Destiny took the optics suicide position is hilarious. Don't know why X was pretending he cares so much about this position when the only reason he thinks 18 is the cutoff is because of some nebulous cognitive deficiency everyone is miraculously cured of the second they turn 18 that X couldn't even put into words if he tried (he definitely doesn't just think it because that's what everyone else thinks).

@@ThingsAreGettingTooSpicyYeah, but we are not talking about law at this point, but the morality or "caring", that's why "you magically get all this things in x age" argument makes sense. Obviously at some point you have to make a rule, it can be more sophisticated than it just being certain age (example: Romeo and Juliet laws (if somedy is underage, but it's up to 3 years of difference)), but there needs to be a rule nonetheless. It is not necessarily the same with moral judgement tho - you could absolutely take different factors into account, which can influence your judgement. And that's why this sentence you used is a valid counterargument, because it shows how ridiculous this black and white approach is, both judging actual scope of harm done to minors, and potential "legal harm" done to young adults.

Argument/Debate Analysis (almost no personal opinion)
The argument wasnt whether or The Doc was in the wrong, ofc he was but destiny wasnt that interested or invested in it since there hasnt been many specifics that have been released on it so he said he didnt care. X's take is you should care the same amount for every sex crime case no matter what the context is behind speaking inappropriately or sexually to a minor and when destiny provides hypotheticals like 20 to 17 year old X thinks its just as bad 35 to 17 year old ( 38:40 ) and at the same time thinks that 50 to 20 year old is fine unless the 50 year old is targeting very young people consistently and there is a pattern of behavior. X believes that there is an arbitrary cutoff at 18 because there is likely some science behind the age of consent law and biological markers that makes the age of consent is 18 ( 39:20 ), this however doesnt make much sense because some places have laws where age of consent is lower and the same argument can be made about those places and this also fails to answer destiny's question to why 18 is the moral cutoff. X does this thing a few times where he leans back on the saying, "I draw the cutoff at 18" ( 1:37:28 ), and also the legality of the situation like the drunk driver scenario where he claims it is better to drive slightly intoxicated (under legal limit) as opposed to sober with an open container which is a crime. Also, he claimed that driving drunk on an empty road in the middle of nowhere is as bad as driving in a populated area such a city. He then says they are all bad, however one of them would still have to be worse and he never went back to clarify.
Then when they talk about sexual leverage destiny makes a claim that someone who is underaged can have sexual leverage over someone who is of age and it isnt always the other way around, when X is given a hypotheical he decides to self insert himself MANY TIMES and says that no underaged person could have sexual leverage over HIM specifically, while that is fair enough, the discussion isnt about him, it is about how a 17 year old having 5 "bodies" could have sexual leverage over someone who is 20 and this could be made more clear if there were other circumstances like if the 20 year old was homeschooled or didnt have very high emotional intelligence, in this case the 17 year old would likely have leverage, X here would say no one underaged could have sexual leverage over him and that completely dodges the question. Going back to the 18 year old and 50 year old example, he claims that there could be a 50 year old who lived and worked at a sweatshop for 32 years and how they could now know less of the world than the 18 year old and the relationship would be morally okay and there shouldnt be blanket rule of it being bad, but if they are underaged there should be a blanket rule ( 1:53:48 ). This would make sense if he was speaking on legality because there should be blanket rules because on average people would be deviants, however he didnt explain morally why there should be a blanket rule for under 18 but there shouldn't be one be if they are over. Destiny, for some reason, doesnt bring up the fact that this scenario of the 18 and 50 year old could be changed to 17 and 20 year old and how a 20 year old could done nothing their whole life and interacted with no one and how the 20 year old could know "less about the world" than the other person, which is the point that seemed to be important to X during the 18 to 50 example.
In the end X claims that it is better to always treat like the person who is of age as someone who should know better than someone who is under age and how there should be "black and white off limit zones" ( 2:03:55 ), this makes a lot of sense practically and when creating laws because on average it is likely very true but it still completely ignores the moral part of the argument and doesnt answer destiny's whole argument that is WHY or HOW exactly are some of these cases worse than others and how even if the reasons for why it would be bad are put into adult relationships now it is suddenly okay, or if both are underaged its suddenly morally okay. I missed some things but thats basically it.
tl;dr/conclusion
X spent a lot of time just explaining his personal world view instead of actually talking about the morallity of the scenarios which is what destiny was trying to get at. X would say the HE draws the line at 18 and that HE could never do something like talking sexually to a 17 year old while being 20 but the argument was basically why would doing something like that be wrong and his responses completely dodge this question. When trying to explain why he draws the line at 18, and i assume why he believes others should also draw the line there, is because there are "biological markers," which he doesnt explain in detail, and also the possibility of the person who is of age having leverage and being at an advantage over the person who is a minor, and when a scenario was brought up where a minor could have leverage over the person who is an adult, this question was basically dodged by X when he brought himself into the argument when he says there is no scenario where a minor could have leverage over HIM specifically, but then he doesnt go on to elaborate on the specific scenario and they move on. X believes that every sex crime case should be seen as equally bad for example if 17 and 20 year olds and 17 and 35 year olds having sexual relationships are both equally bad while destiny believes there is more nuance which causes him to care about certain cases more and some cases not as much which is why he doesnt care much about the Doc case rn because there arent many public details on it.
Overall, when speaking practically i agree with X's take and world view, but when looking at this like a debate on the morallity of these actions X completely ignored the point and basically failed to answer the question effectively on how some situations are worse than others by giving his world view on his personal hard cutoff at 18 with no other justification other than he believes its wrong without properly explaining why. if you guys want let me know if i'm wrong or just say i aint reading allat.

I believe some things are objectively inherently wrong like if a person intentionally does an action to cause people or animals harm with 0 justification, and this is something that I likely couldn't ever imagine someone having a morally good subjective reason for. But there are likely some things like the topics discussed in this video where I would say its more nuanced, like where and how you were raised and maybe other societal factors. I dont believe its a moral truth that EVERY relationship where someone is in their early 20s dating a 17 year old is morally wrong and the person is a deviant, like X believes. One example I was thinking of is what if a 19 year old is blind and through a mutual friend meets someone who is 16. In this case there is basically 0 physical attraction from the older person and lets say that after a year of hanging out and talking they start dating and now they are 17 and 20 and in a sexual relationship. Is this 20 year old a deviant? I would say probably not and even if the person wasn't blind, based on the information given I wouldn't be able to say for a 100% fact that the relationship is morally wrong. On average though someone is who is older than 18 and dating a minor is more likely to have factors they can't control that creates an unhealthy and potentially (subjectively) morally wrong dynamic and overall i agree with the laws put in place to prevent this.
I think it important to make a distinction whether you are looking at something case by case like how this is looking specifically at the Doc case and when you are looking at the bigger and broader picture because I think on average people couldnt be trusted not to act like dumbfuck deviants if potential consequences werent in place, but in case by case basis or hypotheticals it might be different.

Debate could have been better if 1) xqc interpreted destiny’s “idc” attitude with good faith and 2) if destiny clarified his “idc” attitude to prevent the whole debate from happening. 8/10 very entertaining, xqc should not be debating lol.

ultimately it just comes down to culture. the reasons around age of consent are blurry and nobody really knows them anymore, and at the end of the day, the age of consent does just come down to culture of a country i'd say. good proof of that would be that somehow a 17 year old can turn from illegal to legal just like that on their birthday. I find that strange if we're appealing to morality.
Fucking so true, I have these convos with freinds that live in other states about the age of consent and weather 16 17 or 18 is the best but that you can’t judge people for their belief of what’s right if that’s the age of consent they grew up with
the laws of the age of consent for sexual stuff is targeted to ages 8-14 where hormones starts to rage.
The reason the cut-off is 16 17 or 18 is to give a buffer zone for people who are a bit delayed in development. Since the massive flow of these hormones are new to them they haven't have enough time to learn how to handle them, they become curious and explore without knowing repercussions of the acts that the hormones is making them do. So places that require 18, it's not that you magically turn mature mentally/phsically on your birthday, it just means that there's absolutely no more doubt that you are of age.
But these laws were decided and based from a generation who mentally mature early during their era. Modern era has kids who become physically mature yet still think and behave like a child. Should be pushed to like 20 in my opinion.

well the thing is that 18 is, pretty much, just an arbitrary number decided. not completley arbitrary, but it could have very well been 17 or 19 or 20 without much of a difference. its just there for legal discernment, not as a moral guideline. basically everyone will start being considered "potenitally attractive" after they finish puberty. the problem is that age is a bit different for everyone, and everyone looks a little younger or older respectively.
you really have to use your discrection to decide between scenarios. is 35 and 17 pretty creepy and kind of a huge red flag? yeah, of course. is it illegal and warranting a conviciton? well, that depends on the situation. the problem is people use "minor" which is a hugely loaded term, making people think that they're like prepubescent children.

Just because the age of consent in certrian places are +-16 doesn't negate the fact that it's still a child.
Those laws don't mean a 35 year old can sleep with a 16 year old. If Destiny had bothered to actually read the most basic details of the law he's citing he would have seen that it goes against his argument on multiple levels.
