- Coming out of high school, Hudson Card was a borderline 5 star quarterback and was the future of Texas Longhorns football. Sadly, his first three seasons in a burnt orange uniform didn’t go as planned, but now he is headed up to Indiana to play quarterback for new Purdue head football coach Ryan Walters and he could save his career there. Today, we are going to talk about his insane rise, his Texas career and why he could save Purdue, enjoy!
What do you think of Hudson Card? Purdue football for 2023?
Card is the real deal. Purdues Offense is going to be something else this year.
Purdue wins 6 this year. First year for Walters, but 2024, Purdue will win 8 or 9.
Has Card learned to throw vertically yet? Seriously he had huge issues with his accuracy in the vertical or deep passes. His best attribute could very well be his feet
Meh. He's okay.
Bad QB -- he can not get over his deer in the headlights-- not good
He's not saving Purdue football. He's gonna continue the Cradle of Quarterbacks.
Purdue stole a good one that could have gone anywhere.
Hudson led the B12 in QBR and completion percentage with a bum ankle in an offense that didn’t allow him to run, yet he had 2 great comeback drives against Bama and Tech where he bailed out the Horns.
The donors paid for Quinn, and he was always getting the job, there was big controversy about the announcement of the starter in’22, Sark got bulldozed by the BMD’s.
His deep ball is great, and Graham needs to use it.
Super glad for him. I’m a Texas fan and he was really solid player who developed each year with huge nfl upside, but even more was a fantastic kid and teammate
Wish nothing but the best for Hud! You got this bro 🤘🏽🤘🏽
My granddaughter was in Hudson Card's class at Lake Travis High School. Not only is Hudson an outstanding quarterback, but he is an even finer human being. Purdue is very fortunate to have him on their team.
How about a Devin Mockobee Purdue Video? Set Purdues Freshman Rushing record and is one of the most underrated players in the Big 10.
Also a walk-on
Card completed 69.1%, 6TDs & 1int in '22. Had a QB rating of 79.3 & pass efficiency of 158.1. Those stats would both rank as top 20 QB last season if he had more snaps to qualify! Card also has quickness to extend plays and speed to run for 1st downs. Smart. I've seen every college snap and many of his HS snaps. Card has improved every year. Believe Card will have similar qb ratings or better than last year. Purdue got a really good and improving college QB. Believe Card will ultimately be drafted into the NFL.
Dude was always there when needed 🤘🤘 good luck to him !
He’s ok if he has protection but gets easily rattled if protection breaks down even slightly.
He is DEFINITELY NOT Aidan O'Connell. There will be a huge drop-off through the air. A million 5-7 yard screens this year in Harrell's offense. Will throw 35-60 times a game. Very little vertical passing. O'Connell was composed, could sling it all over. Card seems like a great kid and is way more mobile than O'Connell but can Card throw vertically? Harrell loves WR screens so perhaps they wont throw deep much.
Said the same thing about Tayven Jackson
As of August 15 - Dallas native QB Sawyer Anderson commits to Purdue
Card is solid but don’t expect him to be some sort of savior
I hope he does well, now I will watch Purdue football.
Congratulations.
Hudson is a winner and will always be remembered with thanks for his contributions at Texas. HookEm & go Boilermakers!
Texas guy here,, All the best for Hudson and Purdue this year,,, really hope he has a great year!
Hudson Card is the real deal. If the Horns didn‘t have Ewers and Murphy, Texas fans would be very pleased and excited to have Card starting in 2023.
This dude and his "clickbate" titles... Lmao.
Card sucked and lost us the bama game
Card will do well for Purdue. There were times last year where Ewers struggled badly and Card should have been given a shot- Sark stuck with Ewers so Card saw the writing on the wall. Good luck to him with Boilermakers.
Agreed. Hope Card kills it for Purdue!
Sark’s obsession with sEwers is why he will never amount to anything for Texas, just like he never did for Wash or USC…I hope whoever comes in after he gets fired this year will give Arch that same treatment rather than “bring in my own guys”
@@collegebro85 He's not getting fired even with a down year in 2023. If Sark is fired, the 2023 class led by Arch will hit the portal. The AD knows that and will give Sark an extra year for that reason alone. With that said, it's put up or shut up time for Sark, he needs to break through the 8 win regular season ceiling or he never will.
@@thekat77 thing is, Del Conte did that exact thing with Herman after a 10-2 record and NY6 Bowl win! We lost Ehlinger for one more season and really had to reset the program (especially with Sark’s overhaul of coaching and “his guys”)…however, and unless we have some magical run, Sark will end up with a worse record than Herman and thereby SHOULD be held to the same standard! If not, as you say, then that will further prove our AD is incompetent and the program is truly in shambles of mediocrity…
@@collegebro85 fair enough. I think the big difference with Herman was that he lost the team. There were rumors that the current players were telling recruits to not come to Texas. I don’t think CDC had a choice, but to get rid of Herman (which felt premature at the time).
Sark may have a worse record if he doesn’t turn things around, but CDC also needs to make sure this job is still very attractive long term. That means making it a stable job (e.g. 4+ years to get it right) that attracts rather than scare away future coaches. My $.02
This will be graham harrell’s test at developing qb’s. Getting them seeing eye to eye with his offense. It’s a bit of strip of sorts with anyone that isn’t familiar with leach’s style. Graham has deviated from it, slightly, but key cogs are what key cogs are in the air raid. How’s the reaction to space? His ability to read defenses and play calling. Hot reads.
Wellllll that did not age well did it? Either Card's performance was poor or the rest of the team and staff compensated for his greatness. I believe it was a little of both.
Got the chance to watch Card during his time at Lake Travis High School and Texas. He is much more than a QB, he is an excellent athlete and has WR speed. (Note he was a WR at LTHS before moving to QB) If Purdue runs a pass-happy offense he will flourish. Texas restricted him and limited him from rolling out of the pocket. #5 LTHS in the videos above is Garrett Wilson (NY Jets)
Hudson was a part of great receiver tandem with first round draft pick Garret Wilson. Hudson was recruited at wide receiver as a sophomore at LT before moving to QB where he hooked TDs up with Garrett wilson.
Remember watching him play in state his legs were insane
Gonna need a lot more than him to save Purdue football 😂. Jus sayin
Hard to tell. If the offensive line is respectable, the offense could be quite good. Hudson is not the only good player Walters got, but the Boilers do still seem thin at a lot of positions.
Hudson has a high ceiling, but he just couldn't settle down as a freshman. He was solid relief for Ewers when he got knocked out. He just got buried behind better talent down in Texas. He should do very well up in Purdue
His RB a former Walkon out of nowhere is on the Doak Walker Watch List
Mockobee
I see Texas fans leaving more comments than Purdue fans
As a TX fan I wish Card and Purdue nothing but the best of luck. Card is a class act and did right by the Longhorns even when he might have gotten the short stick or just bad luck with timing. I think in a new, fresh environment he should shine.
Wish him the best, great team player. Played thru injured ankle, just got over recruited when Sarkisian brought in Ewers. Ill be cheering for him this season. He showed improvement last year before Ewers came back from injury. Purdue got themselves a good one there 🤘.
I’m a Texas fan and he was balling for us last year, even playing on a bad ankle and almost beating bama on it
Texas Longhorn fan now I gotta root for the Boilermakers! Good luck Hudson & Purdue!
Good time to get on board the train. Think the program is about to take the next step up.
He’ll definitely tear up those big 10 DBs
-Purdue got a winner. Best of luck, Hudson. Hook ‘Em!🤘
lol, don't count on it!
Die hard UT fan here followed Hudson Card his entire career in high school. Games too fast for him but he has all the talent in the world.
Card played in 8 meaningful games (less than 1 season) over the last few years. He looked better in 2023 than in 2022. Card has less meaningful college experience than Quinn and we know Quinn is going to improve. Card could easily progress into an above average QB next year and then all-conference by his senior year.
@@thekat77 agreed entirely man he’s always had the physical tools he just has to put it together between the ears his processing is slow and his decision making is far too conservative he just needs to get acclimated
Do u mean Tennesee go vols.
@@gracepuckett6506 Someone is trying to be cute with the Tennessee reference when the discussion is clearly about Texas and former Texas QB Hudson Card.... SMH
@@thekat77 I’m
Sorry because my team school is ut you need to watch us play when you song don’t play go vols.
Hook em. This will be a great fit at Purdue.
Go get it Hud!! Can’t wait to watch some Purdue games this year! 🤘🤘
Go Hudson, the Longhorn nation loves you! Thanks for your sacrifice.
As a lifelong Purdue fan, I couldn't be more excited about this season and watching Hudson play. Boiler up!
…oof
Purdue, from a Texas fan. Please take care of this young han. Super talented and heart of a warrior. I'll always root for Hud
No, a single QB will not "save" a football program. But, give me a break. Purdue football is fine. They don't need to be saved. They have plenty of money.
I'm glad to see him at Purdue where they have a track record of developing QBs and letting them air it out. I think he'll be a pro. Should be fun to watch
We don't need him. He's used.
🤣
I’m a Longhorn fan yes we all want the best for Card. I hope he has a great year
Purdue fan with a good bit of family down in Texas. When the news broke that Card was transferring up to us, my aunt was quick to mention that she knew a lot of people around Austin who preferred him to Ewers. Hardly empirical evidence or anything, but I'm definitely excited to see him line up for us. Keep up the great content!
I live in Austin. Nobody here will miss Hudson Card... I promise
@@djhdz3928 Hudson did everything we asked of him. Even if he doesn't have the ceiling of Ewers, Murphy, or Manning, he was a team player that stepped in and played well when needed. It will all depend on how Ewers and Maalik Murphy perform.
@@djhdz3928last year he probably WAS a better option than Ewers. When Ewers returned, he wasn't the same.
Horns up for Card. Wish the kid nothing but the best.
Something tells me, he won't need any of our wellwishes and will pull it off himself.
@@djhdz3928Be nice !
He’s a good kid….but no….makes decisions too slow
There are some really classy comments here. Hook 'em🤘
Card is the real deal , kinda got the wrong end of the stick at TX . He played thru a injury and toughed it out but in the end Sark wanted the 5 star Quinn Ewers , Im defintinly gonna keep and eye on Purdue this year .
Texas alum here and longtime fan going back to the 1969-70 national championship season... yeah, I'm old!
I was impressed with Hudson Card on several levels... he's smart, athletic and very tough physically.
He had earned an important QB role on his hometown college team, but he had a couple of nagging injuries which he played through and the Longhorns got the transfer commitment from Quinn Ewers and the pressure was on Card. For Boilermaker fans who may not be familiar with Ewers, he went to the Ohio State Buckeyes with a monumental reputation from Texas high school football...he had been committed to Texas but ultimately signed with Ohio State because of the fluid coaching situation Texas was experiencing at the time.
It would have been very difficult for Coach Sarkisian to choose not to play Ewers, given his outsized reputation. Ewers does have intriguing talent...as they say, "he can make all the throws."
Card played well, especially against Alabama when Ewers was injured in the first half of the game. Card very nearly engineered an upset versus Bama and wasn't the reason Texas fell just short.
Card is an excellent QB and I think he'll do well at Purdue.
Absent the situation with the coaching change and Ewers at Texas, I believe Card could have developed into a conference champion -type QB...if he had been the starter in Austin without having to look over his competition at a legendary five-star, he could have settled in and developed. I think his Junior and Senior years could have been outstanding. Maybe that'll be the case for the Boilermakers with Card leading the offense.
.
@@jdobbs7700 dont forget sark sat him in favor of casey thompson... I think Sark isn't the brightest and hudson cards consistency with a strong ground game like the texas of old would've been very good with bijan and co. I suppose we will see this year if Sark can win with one of our most stacked teams probably ever. I love card and have been very dissapointed with how he's been handled with such a short leash and ewers seemingly endless like that dude seems like some stoner that just stumbled on the field half the time
@@jdobbs7700 I appreciate the briefing. Purdue fan since Alstott's reign. Sounds like a man I'll enjoy rooting for.
He got the wrong end of the stick by having to sit behind Casey Thompson when he clearly had a higher ceiling. The fans also vilified him after the loss against Arkansas when the receivers had hands of stone and there was no OL to be found.
Great video Mr. Scott
I am a big Texas fan but I think they made a big mistake losing Hudson. I dont feel like he got a chance to establish his game. Quin I am not sure about as I feel Malik outplayed him during the spring game. That being said, I hope sark will do what's best for the team and not what's best for politics.
He got rae deal at Texas, coach Sark recruited Ewers and he was gonna play. Even though he only completed58% of passes. Ewers had terrible game against Oklahoma state with 4 inte6 but Sark would not replace him.
A talented kid and a team guy. Underrated athletically and tough as nails. This Texan knows y'all got a good one. Best of luck.
Love Card hope he excels at Purdue, Texas Fans have Msd respect for the young man.
Awesome Vid!! Love Hudson Card
I think the key to Card coming to Purdue was that Texas Tech legend Graham Harrell is now the Purdue OC. Harrell will be running a Mike Leach-esque system.
Sure going to miss Mike Leach. Fortunately Mike left a legacy of great coaches. Wishing the best for Hudson and Purdue. Hudson was classy all the way, even in leaving. A great example of how to carry yourself.
I’ll be following him closely and rooting for his success. Hook em! 🤘🏻
Wishing nothing but the best for Hudson Card. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🐂🐂🐂
Was pops wrong for this
Card was just a victim of timing, a new coaching staff, and circumstance.
Sark should've gone with Thompson from the beginning and let Card develop more.
Oh well, I am sure he will do great things for Purdue.
Get a Texas QB at Mizzou
Tanner Mordicai!
I dont want to knock Purdues pick up here. UT fan, he could be solid, but he lacks "it" whatever "it" is. When you see it you know....
Hudson Card to the Cardinals
You have a really good QB in Hudson Card! Good leader, talented & tough! Best of luck to Hudson & to Purdue this year...unless,of course, we "somehow" end up in a bowl together. Hook 'em!
Hudson Card and Casey Thompson are two of the better QBs after Ehlinger, and both being Herman recruits just shows how truly talented they are compared to the bust that is sEwers…nothing but success for Purdue w/ Card and Herman’s FAU w/Thompson this season!
Casey Thompson is a D2 caliber qb. The other two are D1 draftworthy qbs.
Bruh the title is hilarious ☠️☠️☠️
