Thinking about getting an adapter for a 20v dewalt battery, trying to find a good motor to replace this one. Also not sure how the board will handle 20v.
Good video! My favorite New Bright RC is this yellow Hummer H2 I got when I was 10. (I'm 29 now) Played with it a lot as a kid and even early in my adult hood, but pulling it out again yesterday, it still runs however the battery was darn near useless now. (not that I am surprised) Naturally I have considered seeing I can mod it to use my 3S lipo I have and that's actually how I found your channel! I should note I am not in the RC hobby, but I know a thing or 2 about electronics just from modding Nerf blasters over the years.
Was at Walmart on last Friday and Picked up a 1/5 scale NewBright Polariz. Thing is HUDGE! Got it for a great deal since it was from 2002. But... As I got it home? The Battery and the Charger were "Missing"... I could of returned it. But nah. So I hooked up my Car Battery Jump starter that had a 12v DC plug on it. MAN this thing FLIES! The car is alredy pretty broken up, but whatever. I can glue that stuff back on. But what gets me is that the body is held on with the TriWing security bit. So I have to get some long reach security bit bolts. I figure its already a 12.8 volt pack on there. SO just the 15 or so volts with voltage drop ran to the bottom works out pretty good. Plan to mod some REAL LED lights on the body and go from there.
I have a dodge challenger with a stock 3.7v battery, And a speedy demon alkaline battery only rc car. I hope I can get another new bright rc car on Christmas!
I just use the 12.8 new bright battery. Works great. Once the electronic board fried. Bought a new truck a and vented the box around the electronic board then added a makeshift ram arm system to the board. Haven't had any issue since. Oh this is the "Rebel Pro new bright"
What's a ram arm cuz I have the new bright crawler with the blue chevy metal body and I'm trying to get it to crawl better so I want to do a battery up grade and still use the same power chip
I really like New Bright RC's but the problem is that they're too slow out of the box; i actually have 3: a red Vortex, a silver Mustang and a black and yellow Dodge Ram HEMI. And i'm going to do this same upgrade on all my New Bright RC's.
I put a 12.8V on a 30 dollar new bright buggy that originally came with a 6v battery. Its speed quadrupled. The acceleration was not crazy but steady. On the cement the motor was fine, but on the grass the extra power ate the motor teeth up. It was worth the experiment though.
Yes, you need to run a low voltage alarm on the lipo balance plug or you may end up draining it past 3.0v per cell and puffing the lipo. My 5500mah lipo would probably last around 45min, so when I don’t use an LVD, I just make sure I don’t run it more than 20min or so before I throw it back on the charger.
you should do a full hobby swap it the only way you can get any performance out of a new bright but then again the gearbox would probably explode lol i know a guy who installed a 7200kv brushless set up in his new bright but think it had a much stronger gearbox than your model
Hey here just looking for info since I’m thinking of Putin’s in a 4-S in the new bright Polaris 4x4 1:5.. the 12.8 doesn’t seem to have much power want to see what it can do
jmoney262 Personally I’d probably give a Tamiya 380 motor a shot, but I’m not sure the stock ESC could handle it. Also, the stock pinion may not fit into the Taniya motor’s shaft. It would be a lot of experimenting and tinkering.

Can't without just replacing the rear end it's a pain in the azz because motor. Ain't that big if you try and replacing it with a bigger one it won't work
Jason Gaudet I don’t know much about upgrading the servo in toy grades, but for Lipo batteries, my go to has been Zippys or Turnigy from Hobby King. Depends on whether you want 2s or 3s as well as the size you need. You may need a small battery with less capacity if there isn’t much room for a battery underneath the body, or you may be able to fit a nice big battery like I did in this truck. You’ll have to do some measuring and then check specs online for what battery will fit. Good luck with your project!
Correct. The motor is quite weak. The two biggest reasons New Bright does this is #1, safety. The slower the truck is, the less likely it will harm a child and cause a lawsuit. And #2 is that a weaker motor is less likely to damage the cheap drivetrain components. Unfortunately New Bright’s largest sector of customers is children around 4-8 years old, so their products are often tailored toward that age range.

If you can figure out the general load current of this motor on 3s lipo maybe you can find something that upgrades the torque significantly while not overloading the electronics on voltage or how much current it drains.
waste of a 3s battery if you ask me. That car prob costs at least 80 bucks maybe 70 just because it is so big. a you can get a brushed 1:10 hobby grade for the same price that will go 20 mph right out of the box. adding the 3s battery to the $80 hobby grade will get it to do 30mph or close to it. a 3s battery may run you about 20 bucks. For the price of a few pair of 3s batteries, you could get a 2s 1:10 hobby grade, rtr with 2s batteries. This truck in your video should be used to play with bigger motors or something.
There isn’t a direct drop in replacement that I’m aware of. You’ll need to modify the car to accept a different battery. In that case, any basic 2s lipo battery on Amazon will do that has decent reviews.
