I agree with you that Zoologist perfume is definitely not for beginners or those who wear perfume for compliments. They are unique as a niche should be.
After watching your video I subscribed to your channel. I totally do not agree with you but loved the video. I love Zoologist but can understand your opinions, I work in a court room and a judge once told me that if I ever wear Rhinoceros in her court room again she would give me 3 to 5 years in solitary confinement hahaha

@@rottenrebels Well, then it would probably take 3 to 5 years to get back to you hahaha, I wear a lot of different fragrances but find myself reaching for a Zoologist often. I'm working with that judge tommorow and will be wearing Cacharel pour l'homme, she loves it.

I actually love moth. Its so complex, its kaleidoscopic. The honey is fantastic, and it actually gives off the feeling of the warm glow from a dusty lightbulb.

I have just bought a second bottle of Panda as I've nearly finished the first. Testing it on paper really won't do it justice, I've received plenty of positive feedback. Its a nice safe scent but unique that people will remember you. I went to a party and the following day the host told my friend that I left her living room smelling amazing and that she could still smell my fragrance the next day.

T-Rex is one of the best "smokey" fragrances i have came across. Masculinity at its best.
Thank you for that video of my favourite house 😊 It’s difficult to grasp zoologist at first sniff. Elephant has quite a lot of coconut but you can smell it only about 20-30 minutes in. The scents develop so much! Great channel! 👍❤️

How d'you not smell coconut in Elephant? It's A LOT of cocoa and coconut (plus leaves and milk). Great video by the way. My favs of the house are 1. Camel (it works on skin, and it is really G.R.E.A.T., exotic, different), 2. Elephant and 3. Panda. Macaque Yuzu Edition is also pretty cool, as well as T-Rex and Seahorse (kind of challenging, but exciting)
Thank you! Yes, we had a lot of fun in this one and it was VERY interesting to discover the house of Zoologist! We had most zoologist perfumes in this one but some were missing and I don't think Seahorse or Camel were in this one. Will have to see if I can find samples of those 😊

Very interesting review with an interesting set of fragrences! In my opinion I feel like because this series is more of an artistic set of fragrences that tell a story more than they are meant to be worn practically with mass appeal, I would rate them 1-10 based on how well of a piece of art they are rather than how much I "like" it or would wear it, if that makes sense. Even if one of these is unpleasant, the ability they have to tell a story and immerse you into a distinct place I believe should be how they are rated.
"AND THERE'S THE BUTTHOLE!" Greatest phrase of all time! Applies to politics, people, perfumes......😂🤣😂🤣😂 Excellent Review!

Zoologist is perfumery as art and for that reason, it seems its wearability isn't always the point. If you read about T Rex, the founder says the perfume was based on questions like "What would terror smell like?" (I haven't smelled that one in particular.) Squid, Cow, and Bee are quite popular. Also, which Macaque was it - Apple or Yuzu? (There are two and it sounds like the first...)
...and Chipmunk!
I would love a revisit to Zoologist where you try some of the fragrances on skin and wear them through the dry down (to get the full experience). Also, I feel like some of the Zoologist fragrances are “scent experiences” and not so much tailored towards daily wear for your average fragrance wearer. I think the point is to capture the essence of the animals and their story. I’d like to hear your ratings based on how well you feel they reflect the story and the animal instead of how “wearable” they are. I did enjoy the video though, because I’m excited to experience the house for myself.
After you described what Tyrannosaures Rex smelled like, it brought back scent memories of that time in one of my past lives when I was nuzzling up to a T Rexes nut sack on a cool winters eve. So very comforting and nostalgic for me. Sorry...I had to, I had so much fun watching this. You two are amazing and my stomach hurts from how much I was laughing. The best was after you described that scent but then quickly tried to say things to not offend the lovers of this scent...but it just got more and more entertaining for me. Thank you for your honesty, I think you were more than kind in your descriptions. People need to know what they are getting themselves into with certain houses. Even samples can be expensive!

Scents are so subjective. Some might love what I did not enjoy (when it comes to these scents) and vice versa.
This was our first impressions of these fragrances, nothing more or less.

Agreed, I was reading through some other comments. Some people get so easily hurt or defensive about scents they like. It is too bad that you have to worry about others feelings when giving your opinions but I guess that just goes with the territory. It was the one comment making it sound like your noses just weren't experienced enough and that maybe some day you too can appreciate it like the "experts,' because you haven't yet fallen in love with the scent of butthole etc. Those weren't the exact words, but that is what I got from it. I guess that is what separates the amateurs from the pro's!
Don't worry about replying to this. It is too awkard in your position, but I had to say it for you guys

Yes, some people do get very defensive about scents they like which is an interesting thing.. 😁👀 Everyone likes different things.. That's just the way it is.
And that's the thing I mention in the video. While a lot of these were not to my liking, they might be something amazing to someone else. Different noses, different tastes.
Same thing with food where not everyone likes the same things.

These scents are more for artistic appreciation and personal enjoyment rather than wearing for the same purpose as traditional fragrances

For me it's my favorite brand. I only dislike Sloth and Dodo. My all time favorites are Bee, Civet and Koala followed by Moth, Hummingbird and Hyrax. 🌹

For people who are mostly into mass appealing scents, be it niche or designer, this house would come across as one of the most challenging one for sure! Even i find some of these way too weird or bold. This indie house aims to create art in terms of the fragrances rather than just doing business so to speak. you need to have better nose to detect notes and the DNAs they play with or the stories they create. Once you do u'll understand and appreciate them. you have to love the fragrs for urself without caring what others will say u know! Not everything we can love/like for sure but the ratings are LOL so much fun to see. Made me laugh. :) Rhino is my absolute fave, not the new one but the older version. A beautiful complex leather fragrance! Actually they started making more wearable fragrances lately. Squid, koala, bee, snowy owl, musk deer and so on. It's kinda sad that they loosing their signature uniqueness tbh!
I love the twist on Cow, it's kinda addictive, but I do miss their uniqueness, like what dodo (first version) make me feel, T-Rex, Bat (2016) I mean everything was challenging but mystifying,

@@rottenrebels I had high expectations but overall they are not that great at least not for me. Some are unwearable. But there are good ones - Panda, Dragonfly, Koala. But Hyrax is just horrendous. I read comment on fragrantica saying it is "Dog-friendly" and it made me laugh as much as your reaction.

Zoologist fragrances change drastically when applied to your skin. They are too complicated to accurately review without wearing them. I did enjoy your initial impressions though. I have Elephant and I found your review on that interesting. This perfume house is not for everyone, obviously. Many thanks.

Bahaha! Animal butt, ancient scrotum, musty abandoned house...😂 I've smelled a better beaver 😳😬 What an adventurous fragrance collection! Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. Surprisingly, some of them didn't have notes i would expect, like banana for macaque or bamboo for panda. 🤔 Thanks for sharing your thoughts, so much fun! 👌🌹

Zoo-lodgist: The one who lodges in the zoo. 🤭 Zoo-ALL-ogist? Favourites have always been Camel and Elephant, but I've yet to try Bee and the new Chipmunk. Actually, now that I think about it, layering Bee and Chipmunk sounds like a wonderful idea... The journey into the butthole was hilarious. But yeah, gotta have balls to wear T-rex!

I just bought Bee based on all the great reviews but I wish I had not. It was well crafted and creative but I wish I has spent the money on something else.

I LOVE scents that are "different" and I love polarizing perfumes, but these (zoologist) are in a separate category that I don't really find attractive. 😆 But like I mentioned in the video, that's just how I personally feel and there are people out there that will love these perfumes..
But.. I REALLY recommend to try them first (samples) to see if they enjoy them before committing to a full bottle 🙏😊

These are quite popular here in my country amongst the hardcore niche snobs. But i never got the courage to try it going by its name and notes. Idk it's just me that I always gets complement from designer's rather than niche. I am so happy to explore more designers rather than niche.
Yeah.. This is mostly niche niche.. And regardless of how one feels about the scents, they are definitely NOT scents that most people would enjoy on someone.. My friends would wonder WTF is going on if I would come with Hyrax or Rex on 😂 On the other hand.. If you feel that the dancefloor is too crowded then you´ll have an easy time clearing it with those 😆 In the end.. Wear what makes you feel good and don't mind anyone else.. 👌

I think when you critique these fragrances, you need to ask yourself if they capture the imaginary smell of the animal/habitat of each animal. Does the smell of camel/rhino/elephant etc, transport you to being in close proximity of these animals? Can you visualize each animal by the fragrance? Whether or not you would wear it on a date, or to a club, in my opinion, is not that important with these niche fragrances.
