There’s also a picture of Pee Wee with his arm around Jackie in a locker room, which he actually received death threats for when released. I sometimes can’t wrap my mind around the fact that this was in 1947. In 73 years, majority of people went from literally wishing death upon a black man for playing baseball, to majority completely boycotting people and companies for any display of racism whatsoever. In 73 years the tables turned that drastically, and I genuinely think Jackie Robinson had so, so much to do with it. He was one of the first dominoes in the chain. So much respect for this man and his family. So much respect for anyone with as much resilience, strength, and heart.

Interesting irony; Robinson was college educated, unlike most major league players at that time. He also was a registered Republican for those believing he was a bleeding heart. A man of great intellectual brilliance( president of Chock full of nuts coffee) and exceptionally kind to those who were unworthy of kindness. I was present during the first 1955 world series game when he stole home and had been to dozens of his games during the course of his career. I'm proud to say I own his autograph. If Barack Obama were one tenth the man Robinson was, America would not be as divided as we currently find ourselves.

I'm just curious how many people actually knew who Jackie Robinson was before the movie came out?

America's original sin...has not been corrected to this day, and America suffers for it every year...

    Sad stuff.
Experienced (and still experience, to an extent) a ton of racism when I was a child. Early to mid-90's.
    Really changes you.

African Americans should be proud of Jackie but instead some still deny that Jackie didn’t really steal home that they threw the ball late on purpose some still believe Jackie wasn’t all that good like cmon guys I’m not white or black but i admire Jackie!
