Don't feel bad. I was changing a tire on my car when in my dad's driveway when I got a phone call. I put the car down and drive off. Never torqued down the lugs and made it about a mile down the road before the wheel came off.
It happens Louie, I completely rebuilt a 1976 El Tigre when I was a kid, Slp Clutch, Pipes, bored to 533cc, big carbs, etc. I didnt change the 20+ year old carb boots and one leaked, leaned way out and blew up 20 minutes into its first ride.
The wife used to call and ask when I'm coming home. Then she started asking me to pick shit up at the grocery store, pharmacy, and kids from after school programs on my way home. I get home to no dinners and a messy house. She's gone now.
hi I watch you vids all the time great vids I have a question I got my first efi snowmobile its a 1996 indy 500 efi 2900 miles its mint and its hard to start I put a new battery and I hear the fuel pump runs it only STARTs when I add throttle its pissing me off I tested the compression its 120 psi each cylinder let me know if you have any Ideas and also I put new plugs
Yes I have a question I was wanting to know how I could get stickers of your power mods I was also wanting to know a couple questions about some sleds I have Arctic Cat 2005
More or less, not as much suction through the carb due to effectively leaking behind it, the wrong side. Thus you are not only getting unmetered air into the cylinder, you are also not getting as much fuel because you have lost vacuum/airflow/pressure in the carb. On an old low hp engine, possibly would have survived, just ran poorly, high hp 800, meltdown!
get rid of that cover on the intake tube.. if you hop on our hcs forums you will see everyone say not to run it. it will kill airflow to the intake. i ran one as well then i read some things on there and i took it off.
Well wanna play got to pay. I have done my share of those F****K ups !!! no shame its all in the game, all we have to do is pull out the check book and keep going !!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Something does not add up, a lean out does not crack a cylinder. Maybe ingesting the reed valve caused the mechanical damage and then coolant leaking caused the sieze?? Let us know what ya find out.
well......it seized, and unseized, then i drove it out.....and it seized two more times - i kinda pushed it a little - we were in a bad spot and towing wasnt an option:)
PowerModz I was just trying to rap my head around how a lean out could crack a cylinder. Are you going to get a replacement from Dan? Maybe he has seen this type of failure from a lean out?? Either way, please let us know so we may all learn form this :-)
I Oval raced an indy 340f and the throttle cable came out of one of the carbs and leaned the cylinder at WOT and it literally locked right up, if you seize them hard enough something will crack :P
decided to put a bikeman durability kit into my 12 assault 800 at 750 kvms. why? cause like Louie i can't help myself and take sh!t apart to try an make it better, at any rate it found both cylinder skirts crack when i tore it down. nothin would have led me them cylinders other than pure tinkery. plenty of cross hatching on both holes aswell!?
If your working mistakes will happen. Nobody’s perfect, just spent 20-minutes looking for my XL 10mm wrench, it was in my coveralls. Pretty stupid, gotta laugh at yourself. It’s all good Louis.
i have a iqr 440/600. the 600 motor is a carbed, oil injection motor. would i need to change connecting rods if i wanted to do a stock 800 top end on the 600 bottom? would love a response cant find anything on this
Hey bud them aren't stock polaris cylinders indy dan welds 45 degree angle gusset on them to beef them up compare it to the stock ones you can fit only one finger between yours on 3 fingers between the stock
I’ve seen that with the type of playing them cylinders have you will never notice that as long as the rings are not catching ,hone it out put it together and send me them junk cylinders the. Please I’ll donate them I swear
Its actually your wife's fault, because she had to call you at that moment, but you're probably not the first or last one who has forgotten something important with a snowmobile
And you dont like the weight of a Yamaha .. i would rather the weight than a rebuild over and over and over ..Oh wait ,- you 2-smokers dont keep them that long _________/
JDRTRM JDRTRM I don’t deal with rebuilds over and over. Just buy a skidoo 500ss (592cc) all the light weight and fun of a 2 stroke and they last forever. My dad has had 2 of them, 1 he bought brand new. Both made it about 10,000 miles, yes ten thousand. Without any other engine work than carb boots and reeds.
Good videos my friend. You are an inspiration and your demeanor keeps us all wanting to watch and be a part of the same things you are doing.

That's just such a beautiful sled
Thanks for sharing! Sucks that problems are had and sharing problems puts your vids in a whole new level of "greatness". Keep up the great work.
Ahhhh it happens. Its refreshing to see your honesty
As my 2013 Backcountry X sits in the garage TOTALLY apart, bins of parts all over, it's 3am and now I'm creeped out hahahah
Thanks alot Louie 🤣
Dont beat yourself up to much. I ran mine out of oil last year :O... Welcome to the club :)
your eye said it all well when you found that crack!! ha well least there always a cold brew to look forward too!

love the show, but it makes me laugh when you use a 5 foot extension when you need a 6inch extension haha
lmao
he does that so we can see .lol SMH
Louie You should build a rev 440/800 With twinpipes and some porting, Would be awesome
The wife used to call and ask when I'm coming home. Then she started asking me to pick shit up at the grocery store, pharmacy, and kids from after school programs on my way home. I get home to no dinners and a messy house. She's gone now.
Well at least when your wife asks you why you bought more sled parts you can say it's her fault😂
Hey Louie , I think you should put teflon coated piston in her !

Is the angle of the steering post noticeable when you're riding the IQR?
Camera man NO TALKING
Yes I have a question I was wanting to know how I could get stickers of your power mods I was also wanting to know a couple questions about some sleds I have Arctic Cat 2005
I have a 2005 SaberCat 700 EFI I was wanting to know if I can make it into a mountain sled what's the best way to pull power out of it
big bore kit, rktec with his pistons and head
That is a cool Polaris
Where are you ordering your mono block from, turns out I will need one for my 800
yes its diferent you can just take out the exaust
Can you guys please be honest what is the best long lasting and fast snowmobile?
Can you explain what is going on when a sled is leaning out by a cracked or lose reed valve boot.

What are the things he removed at 11:10?
thank you, now, what do they do?
ok, and what does that do for the snowmobile?
ohh cool. thanks for educating me :)
Rigid tools?

Brad J. Sounds good to me, he will have it next week.

How about you call it The Jet Cruiser !
Its actually your wife's fault, because she had to call you at that moment, but you're probably not the first or last one who has forgotten something important with a snowmobile
Shame on you Louie ;)
that could have been welded and replated. smh

If you ask me that’s incredible for a 2 stroke. Ive seen tons of arctic cats and poo laris sleds that needed top end work before 5k miles.
Typical Polaris Problems.
Lame sorry man.
