I've met TM in person, severally, and I can boldly say that she's such a sweetheart. Faaaaaaar from what social media thinks she is. That moment when Toke laughed out loud hearing poverty was an adventure, I nearly fell off my chair at the office😂. I really didn’t know this part of Iyabo. I guess we’ve got a lot of broken people out there from broken homes dealing with that trauma. Hopefully, we all move past that and tell our stories too. In my case, I’ve forgiven my parents but looks like till date they are not remorseful! Sad truth. Thank you for sharing your story. It tells people like me that we are not alone on this kinda story we were born into. And to think you became both parents for your kids till about 15years or so you said? This forgiveness that Aunty Iyabo is talking about is extremely hard to do especially when you’ve been traumatized by the carelessness & poor choices of irresponsible parents. I know my lack of forgiveness is holding me back but I also don’t know how to get past some memories
Truly, forgiveness is hard. I struggle too but I know I've come a long way. A friend once told me that forgiveness is not for your offender, it's for you (your peace, your mind). People who offend us rarely ever asks for forgiveness and waiting for them to come to a realization of how much they've hurt us would be waiting till eternity. Pray to God, tell him exactly how you feel about your offender and tell him you desire to forgive for peace sake.
I know it’s hard - but in order for God to forgive you, you MUST forgive them. It goes hand in hand, if you don’t whatever sin you’ve committed hasn’t been forgiven.
Her childhood sounds quite similar to mind. It's uncanny. Truly. The way she framed her sentences to explain how no one told her anything, or how she wrongly titled her Father and Grandmother is exactly my situation. It is too identical, it is scary.
