It was also a direct response to some more anti-men sentiments by some of the hardcore feminists at the time (in the 80s). At least that's how my feminist parents exlpained it to me, and why they always tried to teach us gender issues as a matter of equality. There's actually some really cool stuff from that time highlighting the need of feminism for men in direct opposition to those voices. The "Männer sind auch Menschen" ist sort of the line that to me was always directly aimed towards them.

"Mit 18" means "at 18" and he is singing about how he founded a rock'n'roll band at the age of 18 and how he "struggled" with it!
Great performance, great show, great audience, great sound, great lyrics, great location, ...!

Herbert is an institution in my country Germany. He is a singer songwriter, also was an actor in 'Das Boot' as a military journalist on the submarine during their mission. He is seen very smart as he is reading books. In an interview he once stated, reading gives him ideas about what to sing about and also how his verses will be formed and even some single words give an interesting twist to the story he just told.
And 'Männer' is more or less THEE 80´s hymn in Germany while feminism started to gain influence.

This song was initiated by Anna his wife that died of cancer. She and Herbert had a long talk about what men was all about and many of the lines in the lyrics came from her rant. He spunned it around from a rant to a ironic song from his point of view. Actually its also a critical eye on why we are deviding mankind into geners at all. The first verse and the refrain should be interpreted as its ok for a man to be vulnerable and not so tough guy. The rest of the lyrics are a bunch of exaggerated and stupid stuff men think they need to do to become a true man. Herbert Grönemeyer himself feels like a man but would never ever like to be such a tough guy, he is a true softie.
Myself being an autistic woman think that gender norms are really stupid, most of it is based on the ideas of "stay in the group and don't ever think about why you do the things you do". I have never found a song so on the point of what I feel about genders as this song.
And people who want to transgender themselves and need to should get the needed treatment. And be happy. Perhaps we should give them a little bit more mental health checking so its not done "to easily" and church should stay out of it and don't try to change the people who need to transgender. This song is also for that group of people.
To be a human being should matter the most. And to me Herbert Grönemeyer is one of the finest proof of what it takes to be a caring, warm and open minded human being. He might be voke, but in the best way possible.

    • @tinisunblue
      @tinisunblue 3 месяца назад +3

Above all, he is willing to learn. He always says that he is a child of his time. Of course, he was taught certain things that are no longer up to date or are simply wrong today. And he has done things that he didn't think about at all at the time he did them. Precisely because nobody thought about it. But he is one of the "old white men" who don't behave like old white men. Who don't rail against the LGBTQI+ community. Who are open-minded and say that we have no chance without migration.
He's only so "loud" because he's so famous in Germany. Of course, the obsessively male or proudly German pigeonhole thinkers don't like his attitude. But that shouldn't be his problem or the problem of those who share his attitude. An attitude characterized by tolerance cannot be wrong. But he also takes the tolerance paradox to heart and clearly opposes people who are intolerant.

Was sagte er konkret?

I think you've got something mixed up. He simply tells the truth, even if it's uncomfortable from time to time. During the pandemic, he called for common sense. And he was right. He said that the better we stick to the measures, the sooner we can see each other at concerts like this again. And he was right. The fact that he only "wanted" to let in vaccinated or recovered spectators for his tour in 2022 (which unfortunately had to be canceled because he and his band members all had COVID themselves) was not his decision alone, by the way. He had the choice to do it this way or there should have been 1.5 m distance between the individual spectators. Can you imagine a concert under the latter conditions? No? Me neither.
He grew up in the Ruhr area, a region that grew up through immigration and could never have been so successful with only organic Germans. And when he says that we as a society have to show "those up there" and set an example of how we imagine living together in a diverse society - then he's right.
There are exactly two possibilities as to what you are: either a person who is not entirely averse to the right side of the political spectrum (to put it mildly) or simply a lateral thinker who has still not understood that vaccinations save lives. They may not prevent the disease, but they do reduce the consequences.

But he didn't want to be forced to launch a superspreader event either. That was HIS choice. But lateral thinkers can't accept that.
