If we ever invent time travel, or if it's possible, they should go back in time, get someone from the 1800s who thought 20mph was too fast, and put them in this jet car.
Well Thrust 2 had a passenger seat, so if you took them to the 1980s you could do just that
Bro you are literally gonna give them a heart attack from the amount of speed and g forces
If we ever discover time travel you would have already known because someone would have already travelled to the past.
@@prophetfuture9225 unless time branches out to an alternate timeline, like sum theories propose....
@@josephruizdepaz5061 Possible, but at least with current physics the only travel that is even theoretically possible is to go back in time by moving faster than light. So even then getting trapped in an alternate timeline in the past would kind of blow.
3:07 "right foot control the throttle pedal with a total of a 100.000hp" and every petrolheads just wet themselves...

How is he the only person in history that hasn't had the opportunity to hear a car create a sonic boom? Pretty sure I didn't get that opportunity either.
Yeah. I think that statement came out somewhat wrong.
No, Hes right, you could have been there when that car went supersonic and heard it. Very unlikely but possible.
What about Abraham Lincoln?
That is the only car that went supersonic. Ever. As the sole driver, anyone alive at that point had the OPPORTUNITY to be there, but he didn't because he was in the car. That's what he means
What about deaf people?
nah my uncle's Chevy pick up is faster
My honda civic is faster
But, but, but, my Ford Fiesta with Supra taillights and a rally wing is faster!!!!
@@Gangsign-dp6zl thats trash...
My Reliant will beat your Chevy six ways to Sunday.
One word. I have an Evo X .
Imagine traveling at the speed of a bullet. Andy Green the Bullet Man!!!
Imagine how much you have to train to get used to that acceleration
That's why he was a raf pilot
He's had enough training to reach the rank of Wing Commander in the RAF.
Wing Commander.
I mean, I have to play sci-fi video games to be a wing commander and Andy Green is one in real life.
I KNOW! They did not even mention that part. The G forces!
@@Crimsonedge1 Video games suck. Not real. For saying that, now you will be the next one to try for the real speed record!
00:47 never knew that’s how jet engines worked...
The internal combustion enginge builds speed first then the jet boosters take over.
Huh?
Work by a million hamsters running around on little wheels really fast.
@@aspenrebel hamsters, gerbils or guinea pigs, depends on what country built them. some use ferrets.
@@liamgboothNope. Its jet powered. The Cosworth V8, later changed to a Jaguar V8 is used to power the fuel pump for the hybrid-rocket engine's oxidiser fuel line. They get her up to speed using the Eurofighter engine and then they throttle that V8 to maximum revs and engage the drive which in turn powers the fuel pump which dumps a few tons worth of oxidiser into the rockets combustion chamber and boom, the rocket fires up. Its actually the rocket which gives the top speed and maximum thrust. The jet/hybrid rocket combo gives even more power than the twin-speys from Thrust SSC without all the weight of having two massive jet engines.
The coolest thing about this kind of record is that there really is no limit. The ocean is the limit.
John Daniels or maybe the end of flat ground
that too
John Daniels or c even.. ho ho
***** "billions" this comment will haunt you for the rest of your life proving that you have no idea what money is
+Rekikz Well, on average it takes about 10-15 million dollars to build a mile of roadway (a lot of this cost is red tape bureaucracy which would still be present for this project). So, Andy Green used about 13 miles to go supersonic. So let's triple that for a new hyper-sonic roadway. So for this hyper-sonic highway we are looking at 468 million dollars. 39 mile track at 12 million (average) cost per mile.
5:42 V-tec kicked in yo...!!
turbo lag
Imagine just walking through the desert and you suddenly just disappear out of existence
So it’s basically a jet, very close to the ground, with wheels in the body. Nice!
Justice Boofer I’m not talking about airplanes, I’m talking about jets... airplanes are powered by a propeller, cars are with a engine. They’re nothing alike.. big enough hill and the plane will roll back down the hill.
are many videos like this? when i see fastest land speed, i expect to see it, not just hear people talking about it

0:26 ...Maybe according to Guinness the X-15 went 2,905, but according to the US Air Force, it went over 4,500 miles per hour.
NASA's page claims 4,520. In interviews, pilot Pete Knight, who flew the record setting run, claims 4,550.
It said land vehicle
@@youngthirtyeight it proceeded to show a spaceship so I don’t think they were referring to land vehicles in this segment.
This is on wheels= landspeed
763 mph..... that is nearly 13 miles in 1 minute.
0:38 Me going back to mcdonalds bc they gave me a girl toy in my happy meal
Got out of my taxi at the Peppermill in Reno 1997. Thrust SSC was sitting on it's trailer after breaking the sound barrier. I was speechless as I looked it over. Thoroughly blasted with dirt.
That's a damn fast taxi.
How is it even possible?why didn't the car try to lift off at the speed? Its simply amazing!
Lift occurs when there is excess air pressure underneath something rather than over it. Excess pressure over something creates downforce. Try sticking your hand out a car window and changing the angle. Feel how the wind pushes your hand down when the hand is angled downwards. It's the same concept here.
1. The car is heavy asf on purpose to not lift off (the car still has an insane horsepower of more than 100k to hit that speed) while modern jet fighter focus on being lighter
2. It doesn’t have that kind of aerodynamics to lift off
You know it's serious when a car needs a pilot
Terrifying but utterly brilliant!
So if my math was correct, going 760 mph you would travel a mile in around 5 seconds crazy
I imagine a true Batmobile to be a bit more advance (i.e. can turn/maneuver) than this glory of a vehicle.
And it still hasn't happened yet.... so looking forward to the new record! HOOAH!!!
763 mph? That's about how fast I have to go to get away from my ex-wife.
cubans are in love with speed !! :DDDD
Lol that's what I thought

More in Love with rowboats.
This is really lovely , world fastest car with best rated , world record
Nothing is more thrilling than seeing records made at Bonneville, the isolation of the site, just racers and support staff, there is such a purity to the place Speed is everything, competition with respect. I can recall the front page, above the fold reports on the record breaking efforts Breedlove breaking Campbell's record, Art Arrfon (so?) in his natural gas powered car and so many more. Unfortunately the coverage isn't what it was in the past, today people have no clue who holds records in any classification. "Indian" the film, says it all, the draw to get to the Salt, the respect of the drivers have for each other, the history, and the rush from achieving your goal, the thrill from seeing it happen
that... WAS FREAKING COOL!
His wife must be very brave knowing he risks his life every run.
T523 His wife was the coms operator.
She paid his life insurance, before the 760+mph run attempt!
Se me hace fantástico la adrenalina que fluye ala velocidad siempre y cuando se tomen las de vidas precauciones
it went so fast it broke the sound barrier thats crazy
Staggering
Fighter jets do that daily
Take a fighter jet ➡ Tear off the wing ➡ Boom! land speed record
@PANKAJ SHENDKAR Wow, someone is so smart even jokes cannot fit in his head anymore
How about you just kept the fighter jet on wheels on the ground wouldn't that go faster?
@Rooneyluvz93 s Killjoy!!!

+Gohot229 oh yes, when i was at university...
When your late for work😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Andy is the man! im 56 and highly doubt, ill ever see the record broken.
These cars are in the coventry transport museum they have 2 there and there huge they also have a simulation machine that's fun to go in aswell we'll worth a visit there both there also its free entry my son loves it there
I am excited to see them break the record. This is fascinating!!
i remember seeing nobal testing at blackbush many years ago...and he crashed! Its funny years ago the yanks just stuck bigger and bigger motors while the british went for areodynamics and a motor a fraction of the size. Then backwards and forwards across the pond the record stood.Theres even a car that crashed so hard on daytona beach that it buried itself and bits of it are still deep in the sand as far as i no....
man it's almost as fast as my civic.
Nah bro the Ford Aventador IS300 is better..
Nah bro, my walking speed is better
Deers when a 1 whole ton of metal is coming at them: 2:26 Deers when they hear someone slightly burp: 2:33
What is the shortest ever measured time between 2 events? Answer:. The time it takes for a NYC cab driver behind you to blow his horn, from when the light turned GREEN!!!
100,000 horsepower Jesus christ thats insane
5:40 I wonder what the piston graphic is for? I’m very curious about the wheel bearings, to me that’s probably the most stressed point on the car the amount of RPM’s is obviously unbelievable, how does it not heat up extremely quickly and just sheer right off?
made in England, thats why
Ive always wanted to know the bearings too.must generate extreme heat !!
The piston engine is used on the bloodhound to pump fuel quick enough to run the hybrid rocket if you didnt know already
Idk
My question is why are they showing an internal combustion engine from a car? The thing is jet powered.
Believe it or not, they're using a supercharged Jaguar V8 it's the starter motor and fuel pump...
Will Hall Here's hoping they have spares.
They're sponsored by Jag so i'm sure they'd be getting them for free anyway.
Will Hall The thrust ssc does not use a jaguar V8. it uses 2 standard rolls royce built jet engines. The bloodhound ssc, which still hasnt been finished will use a jaguar v8.
martinshoosterman I was talking about Bloodhound, which is what Bobpeter100 was referring to.
And the Jag V8 is only the starter motor and fuel pump, Bloodhound will get it's thrust from a combination of a jet and a rocket engine.
Earth holds the record traveling at 65,000 mph around the sun
@4:46 lower right corner, check out those bumpers!
Imagine standing just a meter away from that thing in its top speed...
Yeah... you would explode so... no
I understand the desire to always go faster, but once the sound barrier has been broken, it feels a bit empty now.
Yeah. Cause there's no more to break.. We'll feel the same boredom when we break the light barrier.
@@kato_dsrdr unless there's some funky new technology that comes around in the next few decades that can change the state of matter then faster than light travel is physically impossible as it would require infinite energy to reach that speed. The only reason light can attain it is because photons do not have mass so don't require infinite energy to reach the highest possible speed.
Andy Green is my hero. And I'm a 47 year old doctor.
That definitely deserves a Thumbs Up!!
I was there, it was awsome
"-Do you know why I pulled you over?"
"- I was going a bit too fast?"
"- Mach 4.2 my guy"
Andy Green is not afraid to speed
What an epic day for the driver
Learnt this is kept in Coventry.
How true is that
I have seen cut aways of some designs of landspeed racers. You know your in for a hell of a ride when just the fuel pump is a big butt, V-8.
Man the speed of this thing in km/h is bigger then the views on this video.
Any video recording of this moment?
This is what I need to get to school in the mornings
02:24
I'd love to see Andy Green on the Joe Rogan podcast.
Why not put an old Saturn rocket on its side and stick some wheels on it. 7.5 millions pounds of thrust! :D
it would probably carve a ditch in the desert and bury itself :) the new car being designed to break the record _is_ rocket powered, though.
The Saturn V wouldn't be able to support its weight if you put it on its side. It probably also wouldn't stand the aerodynamic stress, because it was designed to be subsonic until it was more than a mile up.
It would tear the ground apart
Everybody gangsta until batman socks are on sale and mom starts the Skoda.
A Jet plane with no wings!!
So cool
My favorite is the the lack of real footage
Well one thing you don't have rely on is speed measuring devices. You know when you broke the speed of sound ..... BOOM!!! No one can argue with you.
2024 still here put a like 🎉
Is it as fast as the blue bird car? Idrk, bc the blue bird can travel at 403.1 mph (648.7 km/h).
Thrust ssc : 763 mph
amazing brains went into them cars n drivers!
You have the so called super power houses of the world in the modern era with all the financial clout, but yet again its English craftsmanship, ingenuity and know how that comes to the fore!! Makes me prouder be English!!!
fine but the Nissan GTR is faster

Your Uncles pickup was good for about 45 mph, downhill with a following wind, perhaps he didn’t have it in top gear.
I don't know why people call this a car..
This a fighter jet without wings
Yeah yeah yeah, I wanna see the video.
i am watch in year 2020
I cry when i look at Britain now.
It's a prototype podracer only thing, it doesn't levitate at least 5-8 feet off the ground
Yes

why is it idiotic? it's true
i dont rembemer typing such a pretentious comment my apologize
I'm sure thats some sort of british humour
Andy is smarter than you.
what gets on my nerves is they keep saying "it will make its run at X time" and then they delay, and delay again, and again and again. like just recently. they were supposed to run sometime in October 2016, yes i know we're in November. they have still yet to make the run.
SUPER COOL!🎉
This is the future of racing guyz! Star wars style all over again back to the future! lol
When VTEC kicks in

It's going to be very, very difficult to beat SSC....
I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t heard a sonic boom from a car 😂😂😂 did he not get to watch the video?
Right that statement was so dumb. I still ain't heard that shii yet as i'm typing. Wait does that mean i'm a legend?
I was there and touched it- saw it run- awesome- BOOM BOOM
Don't quite get this.. there was the sonic boom, so yes he did break the barrier...however the times shown in the video are 1224km/h....or 763mph... this is NOT the SOS at sea level... it is 1234.8km/h, or 767mph...
Depends on the temperature. The speed of sound is equal to the square root of Gamma*R*T where gamma is the ratio of specific heats (1.4 for air), R is the gas constant, and T is the temperature. If it was a cool day, then the speed of sound could have been lower. This is also why you can be supersonic at altitude (say 40,000') at Mach 1.1 and no boom reaches the ground because yes, you are supersonic in the cold air at altitude but not at near ground level. The shock stops propogating.
I wanna go FAST
So funny, that guy at the beginning taking about how fast everything goes...yet he does not look like he was built for speed at all! Unless the Mr Whippy van is going by...then he would run like Usain Bolt.
