Ancient Maples in the Cold

- Hi folks! It's been a minute since I posted, but here's an outing from a few weeks ago.
I do apologize for the wobbly filming. Either I had the wobbles, or the stabilization somehow got switched off on my camera -- it could be either ... I liked the painting, though, so I tried to edit out most of the worst nausea-inducing moments while trying to keep a narrative to my rambling.
What might have not come across is that it was in the 30s F (0s C), so the paint gets really stiff. If I use much thinner, it doesn't sink into the canvas as it would in the summer and stays on top, creating a soupy mess. So it's all about scrubbing paint on, straight from the tube!

Thank You for posting this video. I struggle with trees and the ground. This is showing me to just paint shapes without all the clutter of detail. Of course your tree looks amazing. Your strokes are lovely.
Thank you for sharing that, Judith! Isn't it great how all the detail can just be rendered with some blobs and dots? 😆 I'm glad this helps. I still struggle with trees that have leaves. I'll have to work on that this summer... 😁🙌
Really lovely and calming,thank you
I'm glad it was calming. Thanks for watching! 🙏😊
Very nice!! I have painted plein air in winter, for years--BUT you have to put systems together, that allow you to stay warm. The small, packet, warmers, that come to life, when you crush them--hand warmers and feet warmers. Good gloves a necessity and a balaclava for the head and neck.
I love your comment about " Jennifer jumping in" and ruin it all. I recognise it so well😂
Thanks again for sharing
It's so true though!! 😭😭 If only there was a way to shut our conscious brains off for a bit...😆
🍷🍷🍷😂
Well done Jennifer, the painting is lovely and your narration is as lovely. I hope you share again! Grateful, H
Thanks so much for the kind words, H! (And sorry for the late reply!)
Love your humor and your art. The comments you make sound like something I would say. And after making that remark about wearing orange in hunting season I expected to see you on an orange vest doing the warm up excersizes. Fun video.
Ha! No, I was very close to town on a road with a house nearby. I don't think people can legally hunt that close to a house, so I felt safe. But I will wear my hideous orange hat when I venture off road!
I like that pump the blood move, very smart...
Lol! Thank you. But I must warn you -- it is a highly technical set of movements best performed by a trained professional...🤣
Isn’t it a great feeling when you do something fabulous on top of an abandoned painting? Somehow I get extra joy when that happens. Your trees are fabulous! Thanks for the video.
Thanks! Yes, it makes me feel so thrifty! And like I've redeemed a painting... 😁🎨
I just got the RUclips suggestion for me to watch this. It’s helpful to see someone else paint. Looks good to by the way.
I love watching other people paint! Glad the algorithm connected us. 😊
G'day Jennifer from Sydney Australia. My Mate recommended you're channel for me to check out. You're tone's and colours are spot on. A beautiful painting Jennifer you did in this one. Thx for sharing 🎨
Hi Tez! Greetings to Sydney! I used to paint at Georges Heights on the weekends. Such an amazing view and colors. 😍🤩 You have some great light down there. Happy painting!🙌
@@Jennifer_Sampson_Art G'day Jennifer, Thanks so much. Yeah that area is awesome. I love Mosman area to paint. Yeah great light for sure. Happy painting Jennifer 🎨🎨👍
I have painted for many years, but I always painted by intuition and had no patience to paint by observing objects. Now, late in life, I finally see the beauty of painting in nature and try to create something as beautiful as your painting. You are an outstanding painter. I hope to find the inner peace to be patient. Thank you for sharing your skills! ❤🙏
Thank you for watching and sharing! I don't have much patience for anything more than plein air. May we both find the serenity to be patient! 😁🙏
@@Jennifer_Sampson_Art Yes, thank you! 🎆🎄☃🙏
I was just searching to see if you posted another video and here you are. Love the commentary as it warms my heart laughing with you while you’re standing out in the cold sunshine painting.
Nice one !
Glad to bring the painterly cheer! Thanks for watching! 😊🙏
I love your way of painting! Very, very good!😊
Thanks so much, Gianfranco! 🙏 😊
Beautiful and so well done!
Maura! Thank you. I was very sad, though--I couldn't find my super socks for this one. 😔 (I found them later: in a bag with cleaning supplies, of course! 🙃) Hope yours are working well!
Great painting!
Thank you! 🙏🙏
I'm thinking that painting on a blank canvas is difficult enough. I'm not sure how you managed to work atop an earlier work. It would have confused the heck out of me. The result is stunning and, as always, the colors and light are perfect.
It was very confusing at first! 😭 But the neat thing about having something underneath is that happy accidents happen when bits of the underneath peep through. 😍
I could see that, but only at the end. I admire your ability to see the tree as it emerged from confusion. This is a beautiful painting.
Good effort and you just about saved the main tree from yourself. You had it good well before you stopped messing Commentry is annoying. Ifyou are going to say something just say it not mumbling to yourself. Otherwise let the painting say it for you Very promising work keepitup
